Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of physiotherapy programs on injury recovery and prevention among gym and fitness users. Injuries caused by intensive physical activities in the gym can hinder training progress and reduce quality of life. Physiotherapy, as a rehabilitation method, offers benefits such as accelerating recovery, reducing pain, improving mobility, and preventing recurring injuries. This research employed an experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design, involving 30 participants who experienced injuries. The participants were divided into two groups: the intervention group, which underwent a physiotherapy program for 6 weeks, and the control group, which did not receive any intervention. The results showed that the intervention group experienced significant improvements in recovery parameters, including reduced pain, increased range of motion, and muscle strength (p < 0.05). These findings confirm that physiotherapy programs are effective in supporting injury recovery while preventing future injuries. This study is expected to serve as a reference for coaches and healthcare practitioners in designing more effective rehabilitation programs for gym and fitness users.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic condition that requires long-term management due to its strong association with an increased risk of serious complications when blood pressure is not adequately controlled. One of the key factors influencing the success of hypertension management is patient adherence to antihypertensive medication. However, suboptimal adherence remains a common problem and may lead to poor therapeutic outcomes. This literature review aimed to examine the relationship between adherence to antihypertensive medication and blood pressure control among patients with hypertension. A systematic search of the literature was conducted using the PubMed and Google Scholar databases with relevant keywords combined through Boolean operators. The selected articles were screened based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, including original research articles published within the last ten years, accessible in full text, and addressing the association between medication adherence and blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The findings of the reviewed studies indicate that most articles reported a significant relationship between medication adherence and blood pressure levels. Patients with higher adherence to antihypertensive therapy tended to achieve better blood pressure control compared to those with lower adherence. Although variations in the strength of the reported associations were observed across studies, the overall direction of the relationship was consistent. These results suggest that adherence to antihypertensive medication plays an essential role in achieving optimal blood pressure control. Therefore, this review highlights the importance of continuous efforts to improve patient adherence as part of effective hypertension management strategies aimed at reducing the risk of long-term complications.

Abstract

Diastasis recti is often characterized by a prominent midline following increased intra-abdominal pressure, thinning and widening of the linea alba, coupled with weakness of the abdominal wall muscles. Diastasis recti bise causes complications such as pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, umbilical hernia, incontinence, and prolapse of the uterus. To return the abdominal muscles to normal again, crunch free abs exercises or andominal exercises combined with bracing can be done. This study aims to determine the comparison of crunch free abs with abdominal exercises combined with bracing in reducing diastasis recti in postnatal vaginal delivery. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest – posttest design. The sample was divided into two groups, group A was given the crunch free abs treatment and group B was given the combination bracing abdominal exercise treatment. Based on the results of statistical tests with Mann Whitney obtained a significance result of 0.747 (> 0.05) so that it can guarantee that there is no difference in the effect of crunch free abs with abdominal exercises on the reduction of rectal diastasis in postnatal vaginal women.

Abstract

Physical fitness of a basketball player is an absolute requirement in running a game. Flexibility is one of the components of physical fitness needed by players to produce proper basketball techniques such as dribbling or dribbling techniques. This study aims to determine how the contribution or relationship of wrist flexibility (flexion) to dribbling ability in basketball games. This study was conducted on adolescents with an age range of 15-17 years. This research is a quantitative research without giving any treatment or training. The research sample consisted of 25 students who were members of the basketball extracurricular which were selected by purposive sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Wrist flexibility was measured using a goneometer, while the dribbling test was used to measure the sample's ability to dribble. To test the hypothesis in this study, using the Pearson product moment correlation test to determine the relationship between the two variables with the results obtained a significant value of 0.000 which indicates a correlation between the two variables and the correlation coefficient of 0.728 which means the relationship between the two variables is strong. The correlation coefficient from the results of data analysis is negative, which means that the resulting correlation is inversely proportional so that the higher the wrist flexibility, the better the ability to dribble.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with a relatively high rate of traffic accidents. Data from the Indonesian National Police in 2009 indicates that at least 57,726 traffic accidents occurred on public roads that year. This means that an accident occurred once every 9.1 minutes (Ministry of Transportation, 2010). The consequences for the victims themselves can include both physical and psychological effects. A patient named Mrs. Suhaeriah, aged 57, was diagnosed with a lumbar compression fracture at L1-T12. The physiotherapy issues identified included complaints of pain, muscle spasms, reduced range of motion, decreased functional activity in the lower back, and the patient also reported difficulty bending over, standing for long periods, walking long distances, and performing household chores. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is one of the interventions performed by physical therapists, utilizing low-voltage electrical currents to reduce pain in patients with lumbar compression fractures at T12 and L1. TENS can be used for acute pain with high frequency, high pulse width, and amplitude adjusted to the patient’s subjective comfort and perceived sensation. Core stability exercises are exercises that facilitate continuous isometric contraction of the deep spinal muscles at the lower levels, integrating into progressive functional training. Core stability exercises utilize motor learning principles to facilitate coordination of the deep spinal muscles.

Abstract

Hypertension is a global problem, and its prevalence continues to rise to alarming levels. This condition is often referred to as the “silent killer” because patients do not experience symptoms or complaints, so they are unaware that they have hypertension, and many people only find out after complications have already developed. Hypertension is the leading cause of death worldwide each year, particularly among the elderly. This is why the WHO has set one of its global targets for non-communicable diseases as reducing the prevalence of hypertension by 33% between 2010 and 2030 (WHO, 2023). Objective: This study aims to identify the factors influencing the risk of hypertension in the elderly. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted. Studies were identified through searches on Google Scholar and PubMed for publications from 2019 to 2023 using the keywords “Factors,” “Hypertension,” and “Elderly.” A total of 16,100 results were found on Google Scholar and 959 on PubMed, with 10 journals meeting the eligibility criteria. Results: Based on the journal review, the incidence of hypertension can be influenced by several factors, such as age, genetics, gender, excessive salt and fat intake, obesity, stress, physical activity, smoking, and alcohol and coffee consumption. Conclusion: An individual is more likely to develop hypertension if there is a family history of the condition. Additionally, individuals over the age of 65 with conditions such as obesity and kidney disease are at higher risk of developing hypertension. Once diagnosed with hypertension, an individual must adopt a healthy lifestyle as part of the management of blood pressure control. We can control hypertension risk factors through a healthy diet and lifestyle, avoiding
