Abstract

Free radicals in the absence of antioxidants can damage important cells in the body so that they can cause degenerative diseases. Natural antioxidants can be found from plants that contain phenolic compounds throughout plant parts such as wood, seeds, fruits, roots, flowers, and leaves. One plant that has antioxidant activity is sea lettuce. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of purified sealettuce extract results expressed with IC50. The method chosen to make lettuce ethanol extract was the maceration used 96% ethanol solvent, then purified with a split funnel using 96% ethanol solvent and n-hexane. Purified extracts was screened for phytochemicals. Furthermore, antioxidant testing was carried out with the DPPH method by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. After antioxidant testing, data and statistics were analyzed using the SPSS Independent Samples T-Test. The results of this study showed that purified extracts contained flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, phenols and tannins. In purified extracts of sea lettuce, an average IC50 value of 47.99 ppm was obtained and an average IC50 value of 4,38 ppm was obtained. Based on the Independent Samples T-Test of purified sea lettuce extract and vitamin C showed a significant difference from each treatment as evidenced by a significance value (p < 0.05).

Abstract

Companies in the technology sector cannot be separated from this. Technology companies face complex dynamics, including short product life cycles, high investment requirements, and intense competition. Therefore, innovation is significant for a company's survival amidst competitive competition. Companies that constantly innovate their products can better survive competitive pressures and improve their market position. Technology companies often have to allocate large budgets for research and development, which can increase Leverage and reduce liquidity. The company could face significant financial stress if these investments do not generate sufficient income. This research aims to analyze the effect of Leverage and liquidity on Financial Distress with profitability as a moderating variable. The research results show that Leverage and liquidity partially influence Financial Distress, and profitability can strengthen the influence of each independent variable (Leverage and liquidity) on Financial Distress. Profitability is a moderating variable, which is a quasi-moderator variable. In the case of the profitability variable as a Quasi Moderator, profitability can be used as an independent variable that can stand alone and influence Financial Distress.

Abstract

Background: Stroke-associated Pneumonia (SAP) is one of the complications that occur in stroke patients and is associated with worse clinical outcomes. Risk factors for SAP and its impact on discharge status remain unclear.Purpose: This study aimed to determine the factors influencing the incidence of stroke-related pneumonia in the hospital and the patient’s discharge status. Methods: A case-control study was conducted at a private hospital in Surabaya from January 2021 to 2022. Medical record data were reviewed to identify stroke patients with suspected or confirmed pneumonia, after which risk factors (age, gender, stroke type, length of stay, stroke frequency, dysphagia, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, COVID-19, and discharge status) associated with the occurrence of SAP were examined. We excluded diagnoses of diseases with clinical manifestations such as tuberculosis-like pneumonia, lung tumor, pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary atelectasis, and incomplete or missing medical record data. Data analysis used the Chi-square test to identify the risk factors for stroke-associated pneumonia. Results: One hundred sixty-three stroke patients treated in all inpatient rooms were diagnosed with pneumonia; 52.8% of them had confirmed pneumonia, while the rest were still suspected of pneumonia. Most pneumonia occurs in ischemic stroke patients (93.9%), first-time stroke patients (87.1%), experienced dysphagia (55.2%), length of stay less than 7 days (55.2%), hypertension (55.2%), diabetes mellitus (57.1%), and discharged home (84%). We also found as much as 12.9% inpatient mortality due to SAP. Dysphagia, DM, and COVID-19 were significantly correlated with the incidence of stroke-associated pneumonia (p=0.000).Conclusion: Stroke-associated pneumonia is a substantial medical complication among stroke patients affected by dysphagia, DM, and COVID-19. Screening for dysphagia is necessary for nurses to prevent SAP in stroke patients.
