Abstract

Road infrastructure is a link between regions in Kurik District. However, due to several factors the road is damaged. The purpose of the study Describe the impact of road infrastructure on social, economic and educational conditions in the Jaya Makmur and Anumbob villages of Kurik District. The type of research is qualitative. Data collection techniques interviews, observations, and questionnaires or a combination of the three are Triangulation. Analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The number of samples is 60 people. The results of the study The impact of road infrastructure on social conditions is that it hinders people from carrying out mobility during important moments such as the fasting month and Eid al-Fitr. However, on the other hand, the community has a very high value of mutual cooperation, namely for the initiative to repair roads independently by filling the road with excavated soil. While the impact of road infrastructure on economic conditions is hampering the distribution of agricultural products considering that most people earn a living as farmers, and the impact of infrastructure in the field of education is affecting the number of teacher and student attendance, as well as affecting the psychological state of students

Abstract

The implementation of the Sea Alms in Tambak Lorok Village is carried out in the months of Apit and Suro, this year the sea alms will be held in June. This study aims to examine the process of sea alms and analyze the impact of the sea alms ceremony. The method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection in this study through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documents. The location of this research is Tambak Lorok Village, Tanjungmas Village. Sea alms have cultural values of mutual cooperation, sharing by feeding marine biota, there are disaster values, and there are cultural values of loving the surrounding nature. The positive impacts of sea alms are as an effort to preserve fish and marine biota, as an effort to reduce plastic waste, strengthen brotherhood, and create economic impacts in the form of increased income due to boat rentals at the sea alms ceremony. The negative impacts of sea alms include throwing women's clothing items that are very difficult to decompose, so they can become trash on the seabed and can damage coral reefs. Makeup items such as vanity mirrors that are thrown into the sea are also very dangerous for marine life, as glass is a sharp object and can injure marine life. Glass embedded in the seabed can also be dangerous for divers.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning achievement of students in Papua caused by the gap between the national education approach and the local socio-cultural context. Therefore, this study aims to: identify the implementation of transpositional mentoring in Catholic schools in Papua; analyze the factors that support and hinder its implementation; and test the effect of transpositional mentoring on improving student learning achievement. This study uses a mixed methods approach, with a descriptive qualitative and quasi-experimental quantitative design. Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and focus group discussions in five Catholic schools in South Papua, Highland Papua, and Central Papua with a total of 85 informants. Quantitative data were obtained through a Nonequivalent Control Group design on 150 students at the Santo Mikhael Catholic Junior High School in Merauke who were divided into experimental and control groups. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model and descriptive and inferential statistical tests. The results of the study indicate that transpositional mentoring has been implemented practically through contextualization of teaching materials, the use of local language and culture, relational mentoring, experiential learning, critical reflection, and curriculum adaptation. Key supporting factors include teachers' pedagogical commitment, cultural proximity, relational culture, institutional support, and community involvement, while inhibiting factors include limited conceptual understanding, administrative pressure, limited resources, cultural distance, and low learning motivation. Quantitatively, transpositional mentoring has been shown to significantly improve learning achievement. Thus, transpositional mentoring is an effective, contextual, and transformative learning strategy for improving student achievement in Papua. This approach needs to be systematically integrated into education policies and teacher professional development.

Abstract

This study investigates the geometric thinking levels of university students using the van Hiele model as an analytical framework. A total of 85 students from four academic programs—Mathematics Education, Primary School Teacher Education, Agricultural Science, and Informatics Engineering—at Universitas Musamus participated in the study. The Van Hiele Geometry Test (VHGT), consisting of 25 multiple-choice items across five cognitive levels, was administered. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, including percentage distribution and level classification based on students’ mastery of at least three out of five items at each van Hiele level. In addition, an item-based diagnostic analysis was conducted to identify patterns of misconceptions in students’ responses. Comparative analysis across academic programs and gender was also performed to examine subgroup differences. The results revealed that most students were operating at the lower levels of geometric thinking: Level 0 (Pre-recognition), Level 1 (Visualization), and Level 2 (Analysis). Only two students reached Level 3 (Informal Deduction), and none achieved higher levels. Diagnostic findings indicated persistent misconceptions, particularly reliance on visual prototypes and difficulties in property-based reasoning. These findings highlight the need for instructional strategies aligned with students’ cognitive levels to promote higher-order geometric reasoning. This study contributes to the literature by providing insights into cross-disciplinary differences in geometric thinking at the tertiary level.

Abstract

The teaching of Civic education in primary schools is still dominated by a rote-learning approach that overlooks the development of student character. This issue is compounded by the use of monotonous lecture methods and the limited ability of teachers to connect the subject matter with local contexts. This study aims to develop a textbook for the Basic Concepts of Civic education course based on Deep Learning at the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Musamus University, which is feasible for use. It also seeks to test its effectiveness in enhancing students' conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills through the integration of Pancasila values and the local wisdom of Papua. The research employed a Research and Development approach utilising the 4-D model, involving subject matter experts, media experts, learning experts, and students through individual trials, small-group trials, and field trials. The results showed that the textbook obtained an average feasibility score of 75.9 per cent across all validation and trial stages, categorised as 'feasible'. User responses provided positive assessments, with an average score of 71.5 per cent, indicating the practicality and effectiveness of the textbook in promoting deep conceptual understanding. The study concludes that the Deep Learning-based textbook is feasible for use and is capable of strengthening students' national character. It is recommended that the textbook be implemented more widely, further developed by incorporating digital technologies such as augmented reality, and supported by institutional policies to ensure the sustainability of this learning innovation.

Abstract

The availability of systematic teaching modules integrated with local wisdom for the Instructional Media course in the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program remains limited. As a result, the learning process has not fully supported students' creativity in designing contextual instructional media. This study aimed to develop a project based learning teaching module integrated with local wisdom and to examine its feasibility in enhancing students' creativity in designing instructional media. This study employed a research and development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research participants included 8 students in the small-group trial and 28 students in the large-group trial from the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program at Musamus University. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The findings revealed that the developed teaching module achieved a mean student response score of 3.52 in the small-group trial, categorized as good, which increased to 3.86 in the large-group trial, also categorized as good. These results indicate that the project based learning teaching module integrated with local wisdom meets the criteria for feasibility as an instructional resource and has the potential to enhance students' creativity in designing contextual and meaningful instructional media.
