Abstract

Vannamei shrimp cultivation has been carried out for quite a long time in Indonesia, the more advanced the era of vannamei shrimp cultivation techniques have developed very rapidly. The main goal of technological developments for vannamei shrimp is a high level of production. The vannamei shrimp culture system with the bioflox method can be interpreted as living organic matter that blends into lumps. The clumps consist of various aquatic microorganisms including bacteria, algae, fungi, protozoa, metazoa, rotifers, nematodes, gastrotricha and other organisms suspended with detritus so that the flocs in shrimp can be used for feed. While the Running water system is the movement of water needed to keep the particles in suspension. If biofloc particles settle, anaerobic slurry pockets often form which can release ammonia or sulfides; sulfide can be directly toxic to animals and can inhibit nitrification, thereby leading to a further increase in toxic nitrogen compounds. For Recirculation Aquaculture system is a shrimp rearing system using the recirculation method without any water change where the wastewater is managed with several filters. The RWS (running water system) system has the advantage that the movement of the water system makes it easier to collect nutrients so they are easy to dispose of and control. The second advantage of the process is that it facilitates nitrification and with a stocking density of 750,000 m2, initial weight of 3.2 grams, final weight of 11.4 grams, daily weight of g/day 0.745, total feed 7450 and survival rate of 85%, food conversion ratio 1.11

Abstract

Aquaculture activities cannot be separated from the availability of artificial feed, even 70% of the total production cost is spent on feed, so the availability of good feed, in terms of quality and quantity, is an effort to maintain the success of aquaculture activities. Feeds with high protein have relatively higher prices because some of their raw materials still rely on imports from other countries. The solution to this problem is to use alternative feed ingredients that have good nutritional content, are easy to obtain and do not compete with humans. Organic waste originating from food scraps and agricultural industry residues has considerable potential. However, it is necessary to have a fermentation process as an effort to improve the nutrition and quality of these materials. The purpose of this paper is to determine the extent of utilization of fermented organic waste as fish feed ingredients that can help improve fish growth performance. Keywords:Alternative feed ingredientsFermentationFish feedOrganic waste

Abstract

The high level of public consumption, balanced with the increasingly dense population globally, makes food waste more and more. Food waste is the second-largest contributor to waste in the world. Moreover, the lack of food waste management makes this condition even worse. This food waste can be found, one of which is in restaurants, school canteens, food courts, and others. Fermentation is the process of breaking down complex substances into simpler ones. A fermentation process can help process food waste into various products such as liquid organic fertilizer, compost, biogas, and raw material for fish feed. Through the fermentation process, food waste can be used as an alternative fish feed with high nutritional content to benefit fish cultivators. Fish need many nutrients for their bodies, with food waste that has been processed will meet the dietary needs of fish. The cultivators will benefit more from the cost of feed and the sale of fish that can meet consumer needs. Moreover, the demand for the fish market is increasing every year. Several factors play a role in the success of the food waste fermentation process and the quality of the resulting product to be converted into fish feed raw materials. These factors include incubation time, pH acidity, and microbial factors that can accelerate the spoilage of fish feed raw materials. Keywords:Fermentation,Restaurant wasteFish feedFactorsQuality of feed IngredientsLiterature review on fermentation factors of restaurant organic waste affecting feed quality

Abstract

Feed is an essential component in fish farming because it supports the survival and growth of fish. Provision of feed, one of which can be done through the utilization of organic waste. One of the efforts used to improve the nutritional quality of feed ingredients is the fermentation technology using probiotic bacteria. The probiotic microbes used in the fermentation will overhaul the structure of the organic matter and the complex bonds contained in the feed ingredients. This right will lead to an increase in the quality of feed ingredients, and in turn, the product will be easily digested and meet the nutritional needs of fish. Search results in several studies indicate several types of microbes involved in probiotic fermentation, either singly or in consortia. Some of them are derived from the Bacillus, Lactobacillus and Saccharomyces groups. Applying probiotics in the fermentation process of feed ingredients can improve their nutritional quality. Examples of some common feed ingredients used in the fermentation process are coffee husk waste, banana peel waste, peanut shell waste, rice straw and coconut cake.
