Abstract

This article examines the practice of Ta'zir, a form of discretionary punishment, within the context of Islamic boarding schools. Ta'zir holds a significant place in Islamic jurisprudence, allowing authorities to determine penalties for offenses not explicitly addressed in religious texts. However, the application of Ta'zir has raised concerns, particularly in the context of Islamic boarding schools, where traditional practices intersect with modern notions of human rights. Drawing upon a multi-disciplinary approach, this study delves into the historical, cultural, and religious aspects of Ta'zir, elucidating its evolution from its inception to its current manifestations within Islamic boarding schools. By analyzing primary sources, legal texts, and case studies, the article underscores the diverse interpretations of Ta'zir and its malleability in adapting to contemporary circumstances. Furthermore, the article critically evaluates the potential conflicts between the traditional practice of Ta'zir and international human rights standards. It examines instances where Ta'zir punishments might be perceived as infringing upon human dignity, bodily integrity, and freedom from cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment. The study also explores the role of Islamic boarding schools in shaping and perpetuating these practices, considering the interplay between religious education, discipline, and the protection of children's rights. The findings of this research reveal a complex landscape where tradition clashes with modern sensibilities. The article advocates for a nuanced dialogue between religious scholars, educators, and human rights advocates to strike a balance between preserving cultural heritage and upholding universally recognized human rights. It highlights the importance of reinterpretation and contextualization of Ta'zir in line with the principles of justice, mercy, and human dignity as emphasized within Islamic teachings. In conclusion, this article contributes to the ongoing discourse on the compatibility of traditional Islamic practices with contemporary human rights frameworks. It calls for a thoughtful reevaluation of Ta'zir within Islamic boarding schools, promoting an inclusive approach that safeguards both religious heritage and fundamental human rights.

Abstract

Learning Arabic is often considered difficult because of the challenges students face. The use of anime films as a learning medium has proven effective in improving listening and speaking skills. Arabic anime enriches vocabulary, improves pronunciation, and helps students understand intonation and accent in everyday conversation. The combination of visuals and audio makes learning more interesting and motivates students. Imitating anime dialogue can improve your speaking skills in a relaxed atmosphere. Facilities such as projectors and internet access are important to maximize its effectiveness. The anime also introduces authentic conversational situations and Arabic cultural context. However, there are obstacles such as limited access to quality films and technical challenges regarding audio quality. Excessive reliance on anime can also reduce the variety of learning methods, so it needs to be balanced with other methods.

Abstract

People who have mastered Nahwu often struggle to adjust to using technology. This research investigates the integration of Interactive Whiteboards (IWBs) as a transformative tool in Nahwu (Arabic syntax) learning, addressing the longstanding challenges associated with traditional pedagogical approaches. The study emphasizes the unique contribution of IWBs in bridging the gap between traditional Nahwu instruction and technology-based learning by incorporating multimodal strategies, such as dynamic diagrams, real-time feedback, and interactive sentence-building exercises. These features not only enhance student engagement but also simplify the comprehension of intricate grammatical rules, making Nahwu more accessible to modern learners. The qualitative research involved 30 students and 5 educators from an Islamic boarding school, utilizing interviews, focus group discussions, classroom observations, and document analysis. Key findings demonstrate that IWBs significantly improve cognitive retention, student participation, and the overall effectiveness of Nahwu instruction. Practical recommendations include providing robust teacher training on IWB integration, designing interactive lesson plans tailored to the needs of Generation Z learners, and leveraging IWB capabilities to foster collaborative and inquiry-based learning environments. This study highlights IWBs as a cornerstone in modernizing Arabic grammar education, offering actionable insights for educators and institutions aiming to implement technology-driven teaching solutions effectively.

Abstract

This research explores the branding and promotion strategies carried out by the Darul Lughah Wa Dakwah Bangil Islamic Boarding School through the TikTok platform, with the aim of understanding the effectiveness and resistance to the use of social media in the context of Islamic educational institutions. Using a qualitative approach and case study design, this research collected data through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of related documents. The 7C Framework approach—which includes Context, Content, Community, Customization, Communication, Connection, and Commerce—is used to analyze Islamic boarding school branding strategies. The findings show that TikTok plays an important role in expanding promotional reach and building a positive image of Islamic boarding schools through creative content showing daily life in Islamic boarding schools, testimonials, and educational content. However, significant challenges such as content conformity with Islamic values, balance between cyberspace and spiritual life, and data security and privacy need to be addressed to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of branding strategies on digital platforms. Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of Kitab Al-Af’al Al-Yaumiyyah in enhancing Arabic vocabulary acquisition and language proficiency among students during the Daurah Ramadhan program at Pondok Pesantren Darullughah Wadda’wah (Dalwa). Employing a qualitative approach, the research focuses on the experiences of students and instructors, identifying challenges and teaching strategies. The study involved 50 students aged 15-18 years, with a research design encompassing pre-intervention, intervention, and post-intervention phases. The teaching methods included daily vocabulary memorization, group discussions, sentence practice, and daily evaluations. The findings reveal that the book significantly aids students in understanding everyday verbs, reinforcing grammar acquisition, and boosting their confidence in speaking. Despite challenges such as the short duration of the program and the heterogeneity of students' abilities, chunking and mnemonic methods proved effective in facilitating learning. This study offers new insights into the importance of structured materials in intensive learning and is expected to serve as a reference for developing similar programs in other pesantren.

Abstract

In every era, there are phenomenal events that impress people, full of astonishment and awe. In this context, admiration can be for objects, animals, or people so that it is referred to as "the center of attention/figure". What meant by a character by the author here is a person who has received general and broad recognition because of the depth of knowledge, piety, and noble character from the surrounding community or commonly called Ulama. In addition, there is still a lack of research participation by Indonesian Islamic education scholars on local Islamic education thinkers. Also, the possibility of conducting historical studies on local themes outside of economic and political aspects that have relevance to the life of the Indonesian nation, such as the thought of Islamic education, is expanding.
