Abstract

Globalization has an impact on the development of international trade, which can increase market share. In addition, in foreign exchange trading, currency is not just a transaction tool but also a commodity traded in the foreign exchange market. The study aims to analyze arbitrage and interest rate parity on its implications for foreign exchange investors and speculators. Secondary data used in the study were obtained from books, national and international edited journals, news, and working papers conducted by a literature review. It is found that unstable economic conditions, increased inflation, and speculators can increase the volatility of exchange rate imbalances in the foreign exchange market. exchange rate differences can be utilized by arbitrageurs and will naturally move towards efficiency. However, the enactment of purchasing power parity implies indifferent behavior to invest domestically or internationally because the returns obtained are not greater than domestic. In addition to maintaining foreign exchange stability, intervention policies are needed through controlled floating exchange rates, interest rate policies, maintaining liquidity and capital flows carried out by monetary authorities and central banks, as well as reducing import dependence and increasing exports

Abstract

This study aimed to explore how 8th-semester English Education (PBI) students at IAIN Parepare conducted a semiotic analysis of the song A Million Dreams, performed by Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams, and to understand their perceptions of the educational values within the lyrics. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research involved 30 randomly selected students as participants. Data were collected through interviews and voice recordings. The findings revealed that students identified various types of semiotic signs in the lyrics: one lyric represented an icon, six were categorized as indices, and three were recognized as symbols. Regarding educational values, students highlighted several moral lessons conveyed through the song. The values identified included religiousness (1 student), responsibility (6), hard work (13), friendliness (4), appreciation (1), creativity (11), love for reading (7), environmental awareness (2), peace (2), independence (4), curiosity (2), and discipline (2). These responses suggest that A Million Dreams contains a wide range of educational messages that resonate differently with each student, with hard work and creativity being the most frequently recognized. The study underscores the song’s effectiveness in communicating positive values through music and lyrical content.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are currently increasing in number in Indonesia. MSMEs are often found in the fisheries and marine products industry. As technology develops, MSMEs are also required to be able to use and utilize existing technology, especially in terms of marketing. Branding and digital marketing are new things for small businesses. The Pupu' fish processing business which is quite well known in Majene Regency is one of the household scale processing industry businesses. Production and marketing which are still carried out traditionally make this business unable to compete with MSMEs with the same type of fishery product processing business which utilizes digital technology in terms of marketing. The aim of this community service activity is so that the Pupu' fish processing business group is able to produce processed fish products that are hygienic and competitive with other products, as well as being able to market them digitally. This activity is carried out by providing material related to branding and digital marketing directly to industry players and their workers, providing ways to market products through digital marketing by changing mindsets and knowledge related to digital marketing communications, improving skills in communicating brands and products through media. digital, and carry out training on labeling packaging for household industrial products. From this court activity, the result was that business actors already had social media accounts which would become a forum for carrying out promotions through social media. Products that were initially only marketed by consumers going directly to the location where the pupu' product was made are now being marketed via social media by creating attractive packaging and labeling it with the name of the production. This is expected to increase the income of business actors and reach further markets.  The most important thing about this service activity is changing a new mindset to become an entrepreneur by having progressive changes based on digital technology.

Abstract

This study examines Ibn Khaldun's thoughts on trade mechanisms and the concept of conventional economic markets, which tend to be exploitative, along with their impact on social injustice. According to Ibn Khaldun, alternative solutions exist, emphasizing that market and trade activities should focus on societal welfare, not just personal gain. This article analyzes the relevance of Ibn Khaldun's thoughts in Islamic economic theory concerning trade and markets amidst current economic dynamics. The methodology used is a qualitative approach, based on literature studies and empirical data. The results show that Ibn Khaldun's economic thoughts and theories, proposed six centuries ago, remain highly relevant. His concepts highlight the importance of providing necessities in remote areas, paying attention to the quality of education, and prohibiting monopolistic practices and transactions involving usury and opacity. These findings are expected to provide alternative solutions for governments facing increasingly complex economic challenges and encourage positive market mechanisms and global trade changes.

Abstract

Kersen (Muntingia calabura L) fruits have the potential to be used as an active ingredient in sunscreens because of phenolic and flavonoid content that can absorb UV rays. This study aims to determine the percentage of erythema/pigmentation transmission and SPF value as parameters for sunscreen activity. Kersen fruits were extracted by maceration using 96% ethanol. The ethanol extract of Kersen Fruits was also fractionated to separate the components of the active compounds based on the polarity level using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol as solvents. The test was carried out using the in vitro method by measuring the ability of the material to absorb ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 292.5-372.5 nm. This research was conducted at concentrations of 100, 200, 400, 600, and 800 µg/mL for ethanol, lyophilisate, n-hexane, and ethanol fractions, while the ethyl acetate fraction concentrations are 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 µg/mL. The results showed the best value at the ethyl acetate fraction concentration of 250 µg/mL with % Te of 5.28 and % Tp of 28.65 and the SPF value of 16.54. Based on the % Te and Tp, the ethyl acetate fraction exhibited protection against erythema and pigmentation with the category of extra protection and based on the SPF value with the category of ultra protection.

Abstract

Indonesia, with its predominantly Muslim population, holds substantial potential for zakat as a source of social financing, estimated at IDR 327 trillion. However, actual zakat collection remains low, reaching only about 4.3% of this potential. Despite increasing collection trends—even during the pandemic—public reluctance to channel zakat through official institutions persists. This study investigates the influence of religiosity, altruism, and zakat literacy on zakat payment decisions, with awareness as a mediating variable. Employing a quantitative approach, primary data were collected from 344 employees of KPP Pratama in the former Kediri Residency area using probability sampling. Path analysis was conducted with SmartPLS 4. The findings reveal that religiosity, altruism, and zakat literacy significantly and positively affect zakat payment decisions, both directly and indirectly through awareness. Among these, altruism exhibited the weakest influence, indicating the need for greater attention from policymakers and zakat institutions. These results underscore the importance of integrating ethical and religious values to support sustainable economic development.
