Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR), based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model across two cycles, aimed to improve the mathematical problem-solving abilities of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Bongas during the 2025/2026 academic year. The study was motivated by low student achievement falling below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) and poor student engagement in the solid geometry volume topic. The participants were 26 students, with data collected through observations, tests, interviews, and documentation. Problem-solving skills were measured using Polya’s four indicators. The results indicated that implementing differentiated instruction effectively and significantly improved students' problem-solving abilities. In the pre-cycle stage, only 10 students (38%) achieved the KKM, with an average score of 63.3. Following Cycle I, mastery increased to 17 students (65%) with a 74.7 average. Finally, in Cycle II, mastery reached 22 students (88%) with an average score of 83.8. Beyond academic gains, this differentiated approach successfully boosted students' activity, participation, and confidence during the learning process.

Abstract

Speaking ability is one of the essential language skills that should be developed in elementary school students because it plays an important role in communication and learning activities. However, the preliminary observation conducted in Grade III of SDN 2 Cisande revealed that students’ speaking ability was still low. The average speaking score was 65.00, with a classical mastery percentage of only 36.67%. This study aimed to improve students’ speaking ability through the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which was conducted in two cycles. The participants were 30 third-grade students of SDN 2 Cisande in the 2025/2026 academic year, consisting of 15 male and 15 female students. Data were collected through speaking tests, observation, and documentation. Students’ speaking ability was assessed based on pronunciation, intonation, and fluency aspects. The results showed that the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model improved students’ speaking ability. The average score increased from 65.00 in the pre-cycle to 74.72 in Cycle I and 78.33 in Cycle II. The percentage of classical mastery also increased from 36.67% in the pre-cycle to 56.67% in Cycle I and reached 83.33% in Cycle II. In addition, students demonstrated improvement in participation, pronunciation accuracy, intonation, and speaking fluency. Therefore, the Picture and Picture learning model was proven effective in improving the speaking ability of third-grade students at SDN 2 Cisande.

Abstract

Numeracy skills are fundamental competencies that elementary school students must master because they serve as the basis for learning mathematics. However, preliminary observations in Grade I of SD Negeri Ciwalat indicated that students’ numeracy skills in number operations were still low. Of the 33 students, only 15 students (45.45%) achieved the Minimum Mastery Criterion (MMC), with an average score of 59.09. This study aimed to improve students’ numeracy skills through the implementation of the drill method in number operations learning. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 33 first-grade students, consisting of 17 boys and 16 girls. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation and analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that the drill method improved students’ numeracy skills. The average score increased from 59.09 in the pre-cycle stage to 67.58 in Cycle I and 77.88 in Cycle II. Learning mastery also increased from 45.45% in the pre-cycle stage to 60.61% in Cycle I and reached 78.79% in Cycle II. Therefore, the drill method was effective in improving students’ numeracy skills in number operations among first-grade students of SD Negeri Ciwalat.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low understanding of addition and subtraction concepts among second-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Cipetir, Sukabumi Regency. Based on initial observations, students experienced difficulties in understanding arithmetic operation concepts because learning was still abstract and did not adequately utilize learning media that matched students’ developmental characteristics. This study aimed to improve students’ understanding of addition and subtraction concepts through the use of concrete object media for second-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Cipetir, Sukabumi Regency. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 22 students, consisting of 13 male students and 9 female students. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative techniques. The results of the study showed that the use of concrete object media could improve students’ understanding of addition and subtraction concepts. This was indicated by an increase in the average score from 32 in the pretest to 55 in Cycle I Meeting 1, increasing to 61 in Cycle I Meeting 2, then to 65 in Cycle II Meeting 1, and reaching 85 in Cycle II Meeting 2. The percentage of learning mastery also increased from 0% at the initial condition to 86% at the end of the study. In addition, students’ learning activities improved during the learning process. Therefore, concrete object media is effective in improving elementary school students’ understanding of addition and subtraction concepts.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the numeracy skills of first-grade students at SD Negeri Padaasih through the implementation of Wordwall-based digital media. The background of this research was the low numeracy skills of students, particularly in subtraction materials. The method employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meetings. The research participants were 49 first-grade students, comprising 27 male students and 22 female students. Data were collected through observation and documentation, and then analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that the implementation of Wordwall-based digital media had a positive impact on students’ numeracy skills. Student learning mastery in the pre-cycle phase was only 55% (23 students completed). After the intervention, student mastery increased to 65.5% (30 students completed) in Cycle I and reached 80.2% (41 students completed) in Cycle II, which successfully met the targeted success criteria of 80%. In addition, students’ learning motivation and participation during the teaching and learning process improved significantly. Therefore, the use of Wordwall-based digital media is effective in enhancing elementary school students’ numeracy skills.

Abstract

Responsibility is a fundamental character value that should be developed from elementary school through repeated and meaningful learning experiences. Preliminary observations in Grade III of SD Cigelang showed that some students had not completed assignments on time, participated inconsistently in group activities, failed to comply with learning rules, and still needed reminders to maintain the learning environment. This classroom action research aimed to describe the implementation of the Outdoor Learning model and improve students' responsibility. The research employed the Kemmis and McTaggart model, comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection, and was conducted in two cycles. All Grade III students participated, while the classroom teacher acted as a collaborator. Data were collected through responsibility observation sheets, teacher-activity observation, documentation, and field notes, then analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis and simple quantitative analysis. Six indicators were observed: completing assignments properly, completing assignments on time, complying with learning rules, being responsible in group work, maintaining the learning environment, and accepting the consequences of actions. In Cycle I, the average achievement of responsibility reached 68%, categorized as fairly good. The indicator percentages were 70%, 65%, 67%, 69%, 71%, and 66%, respectively. Reflection on Cycle I led to clearer rules, more structured group roles, stronger supervision, motivation, and recognition for responsible groups. In Cycle II, the average increased to 85%, categorized as good, with indicator percentages of 85%, 82%, 84%, 86%, 88%, and 83%. The 17-percentage-point improvement indicates that Outdoor Learning provides direct, contextual experiences that train students to manage tasks, obey rules, cooperate, care for the environment, and be accountable for their actions.
