Abstract

This research was conducted to develop a computer-assisted recitation program on statics fluid topics The type of research used is R & D (Research and Development) by adapting the Four-D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) developed by Thiagarajan, but the research carried out is limited to the develop stage. The product has been validated by 2 media experts in the field of physics education. The feasibility test was carried out on 97 students who took Basic Physics I courses. Based on the results of validation by experts, the average value was 3.74 for content validation and 3.56 for product validation with valid criteria. The feasibility test obtained a proportion of 92.58% in the eligible criteria.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap resouces yang diaktivasi siswa ketika menjawab soal terkait gaya apung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan instrumen tes 20 soal pilihan ganda beralasan pada topik fluida statis dan didukung dengan wawancara. Namun dalam artikel ini dibahas 1 soal terkait gaya Archimedes. Penelitian dilakukan pada 39 siswa kelas XI SMAN 5 Jambi. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan ide naive terkait gaya apung. Ide tersebut berasal dari resource berupa “benda akan bergerak naik jika gaya ke atas lebih besar”.Kata kunci: Resources, gaya Archimedes This article aims to reveal students-activated resouces when they are solving the buoyancy force questions. This study used survey method with 20 MCQs reasoned on static fluid and supported by interviews. But in this article discussed a question related to buoyancy force. The study was conducted on 39 students of grade XI SMAN 5 Jambi. The results obtained show the naive-related idea of buoyancy force. The idea comes from a resource in the form of " the object will move up if the upward force is bigger than downward force".Keywords: Resources, buoyancy force

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of problem based learning in elasticity and Hooke's law. The design of this study is the Embedded Experimental Model with a mixed method approach. Implementation was carried out at SMAN 5 Jambi in 34 students of Class XI IPA in the 2018/2019 school year. From the results of the analysis obtained there was an increase in conceptual understanding scores from 42.31 at pretest became 57.01 at posttest. The results of different tests using paired sample t-test were obtained t = - 4,901 (sig. 0,000) so it can be concluded that the pretest and posttest scores is differ significantly. Obtained the value of N-gain = 0.255 and effect size (d) = 0.930 shows an increase in the medium category and there is the influence of the implementation of the problem based learning model that is strong enough to increase understanding of students' concepts. Although students and teachers experience obstacles in implementing problem based learning learning models, this learning must continue to be carried out with improvement so students are accustomed to construct their own knowledge.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemahaman konsep dan mengungkap konsepsi mahasiswa pada topik gaya dan gerak. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut digunakan 25 soal pilihan ganda beralasan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei yang dilakukan pada 46 mahasiswa (22 mahasiswa S1 fisika dan 24 mahasiswa S1 pendidikan fisika). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa dalam memahami konsep gaya dan gerak masih rendah. Hal ini diindikasi oleh skor rata-rata mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan kasus terkait gaya dan gerak hanya 30,35. Selain itu, respon yang diberikan oleh siswa juga menunjukkan kesulitan dalam memahami konsep gaya dan gerak, dan beberapa kesulitan yang terjadi di antaranya adalah dalam menggambarkan arah gaya normal. Siswa juga sulit memahami hukum kedua Newton karena salah menentukan arah percepatan. Dalam memahami hukum ketiga Newton, siswa salah menggambarkan diagram bebas benda (Free-Body Diagrams’) dan membandingkan gaya hasil interaksi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran perlu dirancang dengan hati-hati karena banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep-konsep fisika.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effectiveness of problem solving learning (PS) on PhET integration on the topic of dynamic electric. The study was conducted in 3 classes at SMAN 1 Malang and 3 classes at SMAN 4 Malang with groups taught with PS integrated PhET, PS, and conventional. Each group consists of 2 classes with a total of 48 students. 20 reasoned multiple-choices questions were used in posttest to measure differences in the average score of each group. Data analysis used one-way anova and further tests using the Tukey's HSD test. Based on the results of the analysis obtained Fh = 22.31. With Ft = 3.06, it can be concluded that the average score of the three groups is significantly different at α = 0.05. Based on further tests it was found that the PS group was integrated with PhET better than the PS group, and the PS group was better than the conventional group. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat efektivitas pembelajaran problem solving (PS) diintegrasi PhET pada topik listrik dinamis. Penelitian dilakukan pada 3 kelas di SMAN 1 Malang dan 3 kelas di SMAN 4 Malang dengan kelompok yang diajar dengan PS diintegrasi PhET, PS, dan konvensional. Tiap grup terdiri atas 2 kelas dengan jumlah 48 siswa. 20 soal pilihan ganda beralasan digunakan dalam posttest untuk mengukur perbedaan rata-rata skor tiap kelompok. Analisis data digunakan anova satu arah dan uji lanjut dengan menggunakan uji Tukey’s HSD. Berdasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh Fh = 22,31. Dengan Ft = 3,06 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa rata-rata skor ketiga kelompok berbeda secara signifikan pada α = 0,05. Berdasarkan uji lanjut diperoleh bahwa kelompok PS diintegrasi PhET lebih baik dari pada kelompok PS, dan kelompok PS lebih baik dari pada kelompok konvensional.

Abstract

Undoped and Co-doped Nickel Zinc ferrite (NiZnFe2O4) have been successfully prepared using the coprecipitation method with the further annealing treatment at 600 ºC. The structure, image, and vibrational spectra of the materials were investigated respectively by XRD, TEM, and FTIR characterizations. Based on XRD characterization results, both undoped and Co-doped Ni – Zn ferrite possesses a single-phase formation, namely spinel structure without any impurities from other phases. The lattice parameters of Co-doped Ni – Zn ferrite is 8.419 nm which is higher than undoped Ni – Zn ferrite (8.409 nm). Meanwhile, the average particle size obtained based on the results of the TEM characterization is 14.4 nm with slight agglomeration. The results of FTIR characterization on all samples provide information on the presence of metal ion vibrations at frequency bands about 493.78 cm-1 located at the tetrahedral and 514.99 cm-1 occupied at octahedral sites. Abstract

STEM has become a strategic issue in learning on an international scale, as well as in Indonesia. Related to the term "STEM" in Indonesia, it is often referred to as an approach to learning. This research is a literature study that examines four things, namely, the introduction of STEM, which is an integration of four disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in learning; Approaches that can be used in STEM implementation are The SILO Approach, The Embedded Approach, and The Integrated Approach; STEM opportunities in science learning in Indonesia can improve concept understanding, problem-solving skills, scientific literacy skills, creative thinking skills, and critical thinking skills; and the challenge when implementing STEM in learning is the demand for teachers to be able to understand the relationship between disciplines in STEM and demands in the technological aspects that all schools in Indonesia cannot meet.

Abstract

This research is motivated by statistical physics learning in deriving the Fermi-Dirac equation conceptually from lecturers to students or by rote and low creativity of students. This study aims to explore student learning creativity in deriving the Fermi-Dirac equation through the STEAM approach. This study uses a didactic design that includes the stages of prospective analysis, didactic metapedia analysis, and prospective re-analysis, which is applied to the sixth-semester physics tadris student of UIN Sulthan Thahah Saifuddin Jambi. The research instrument used is a description test and a non-test through observation sheets and interviews. The results showed that the implementation of STEAM could increase the creativity of statistical physics with an achievement level of 87% asking questions, 78% learning outcomes, 75% reflection, and 75% analysis on the material of the Fermi-Dirac equation by adhering to student activities starting with phenomena that are easy to digest with the realistic situation during online lectures, which shows that the STEAM approach is quite well used in deriving the Fermi-Dirac equation in the online statistical physics course.

Abstract

Recitation programs have been developed and tested on the topic of force and motion. The program consists of 63 multiple choice questions with feedback made in 3 packages (one package each week). This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the program. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. The applied experimental design is a one group pretest-posttest design. The program was given for 3 weeks by giving 1 recitation package at each meeting (there are 21 questions for every package). The study was conducted on 38 Physics Education students’ who enrolled the Material and Learning Physics I course. The pretest-posttest questions consisted of 15 reasoned multiple-choice questions. Data analysis was performed by determining descriptive statistics, paired sample t-test, N-gain, and d-effect size. The research found that the program significantly improved students’ conceptual understanding with N-gain of 0.498 and d-effect size of 1.559. These results indicate that the provision of recitation programs can improve students' conceptual understanding on force and motion, especially in determining the F(t) graph from the v(t) graph, where initially the ability to solve problems in the form of graphical representations is one of the difficult matters for students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM) dengan menggunakan pendekatan multi representasi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep vektor mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R & D) dengan menggunakan model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Penelitian dilakukan di Universitas Negeri Malang. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk melihat kelayakan produk berupa angkat validasi ahli materi dan media, angket uji keterbacaan, angket uji kepraktisan, dan 14 soal tes pilihan ganda. Untuk melihat efektifitas produk dilakukan dengan menerapkan LKM. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menghitung presesentasi skor isian angket dan menghitung Ngain skor pemahaman konsep. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa produk yang dikembangkan telah layak dan efektif untuk digunakan. Namun demikian, LKM ini masih belum dapat digunakan mandiri sepenuhnya oleh mahasiswa. Ada beberapa bagian yang perlu dijelaskan secara langsung dalam pembelajaran. Kedepannya perlu adanya integrasi video penjelasan konsep dalam LKM agar dapat dipelajari secara mandiri oleh mahasiswa.
