Abstract

The community service program on red Bangkok tilapia farming at Pokdakan Rejoayu aims to enhance members’ skills, production efficiency, and pest control through the application of ultrasonic technology. The main challenges faced by the partner group are limited technical knowledge, high feed costs, and frequent attacks from otters and herons. The program activities included socialization, training, application of ultrasonic devices, and continuous assistance. Preliminary results show an increase in members’ skills from 25% to 80%, representing a 55% improvement. The use of ultrasonic devices reduced pest attacks by 50–60% and increased the survival rate of fish from 60–65% to 75–80%. Growth performance also improved, with the harvest period shortened by approximately one month. In addition, the use of locally based self-produced feed reduced dependence on commercial feed by 20–30%, saving around IDR 1.5–2 million per cycle. Potential yields increased by 30–40%, while profits rose from IDR 3–4 million to IDR 5–6 million per cycle. These findings confirm that the program is effective and has the potential to deliver sustainable impacts on the welfare of the partner community.

Abstract

Data from the Ministry of Education and Culture show that the prevalence of autistic children in Indonesia is continuously increasing, with about 1 in 100 children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). According to data from the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2023, approximately 70% of these children face challenges in social and communication aspects, which require specific and targeted educational interventions. This research aims to examine the transformation of vocational education at SLB Bina Anggita Yogyakarta as a best practice in enhancing the work independence of autistic children. The Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection reports 2.4 million cases of autism in Indonesia with a continuously rising prevalence. Data show that children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) need specialized educational interventions to address their social and communication challenges. Inclusive education programs aim to improve access to and the quality of education, but there is still a need to enhance facilities and resources. This study employs a qualitative approach. Data collection is conducted through in-depth interviews and document analysis, with data validation using a triangulation model, which involves comparing information from different sources and cross-referencing it with data obtained from document reviews. The study's findings indicate that approaches tailored to the individual needs of autistic children are effective in improving their practical skills and job readiness, as well as boosting their confidence. In summary, while significant progress has been made, ongoing efforts are required to develop policies, train teachers, and improve facilities to achieve optimal outcomes in vocational education for autistic children. It is crucial to ensure that autistic children have equal opportunities for success in the workforce and can contribute positively to society.

Abstract

The rapid development of electric vehicle (EV) technology has created an urgent need for vocational students to master the concepts and practical knowledge of electric power systems in automotive applications. However, the lack of appropriate learning media and limited access to real EV components have made it difficult for students to understand the relationship between theoretical knowledge and its practical application. This study aims to implement an Electric Vehicle Kit (EV-KIT) as an innovative learning medium to improve students’ understanding of electric vehicle components and working systems in the Pendidikan Vokasional Teknologi Otomotif (PVTO) Program at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. The research used a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The product was validated by three experts and tested through two trials involving 6 students in a limited trial and 19 students in an expanded implementation. Data were collected using observation sheets, questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test instruments, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired sample t-test. The validation results showed that the EV-KIT achieved a feasibility level of 88.4%, categorized as “very feasible.” The average N-Gain score of 0.65 indicated a moderate to high improvement in students’ knowledge of EV components and their functions. Furthermore, students’ responses reached 86.7%, categorized as “very good,” showing that the EV-KIT is practical, safe, and effective in supporting active and project-based learning. The implementation of EV-KIT not only improved students’ conceptual understanding but also enhanced their motivation and readiness to face the transition toward electric vehicle technology in the automotive industry. Therefore, the EV-KIT is recommended as an alternative instructional media for vocational and higher education to strengthen competence in electric vehicle systems.
