Abstract

Personality is a silent sedentary nature, which affects the attitudes and behavior of every individual. For a teacher, personality will appear as a hidden curriculum, which affects how to teach and educate. This phenomenological research aimed to interpret the characteristics of effective teachers’ personality in strengthening character education. The participants in this study were 17 elementary, secondary, and high school teachers from nine districts in Indonesia. This participant was selected using purposive sampling technique (teachers who have more than 10 years of teaching experience). Data collection was carried out by interview. Qualitative data analysis was performed using the ATLAS.ti software. The data analysis stages in this study were data coding, data classification, and data interpretation. This study found 12 personality characteristics of teachers that are effective in strengthening character education, include able to behave as friends, able to be roles model, able to understand lessons, discipline, respectful of students, treat students impartially in terms of sanctions, patient, relaxed, willing to pursue life-long learning, master the skill of educating character, not known as fierce teachers, and perceived as joyful teachers. The effective teacher personality can provide understanding and improvement of character education in schools.

Abstract

School autonomy can not be separated from support factor. This study aimed to determine source and form of community support and contribution in realizing autonomous in Muhammadiyah schools. This research development is part of dissertation conducted with five stages: define, design, model development, model validation, and model use. The study was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah, Sleman Regency, with 280 respondents; consist of principals, teachers, staff, students, and ministerial assemblies of Dikdasmen. Data collection technique used: interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use quantitative inferential analysis, EFA and CFA techniques. The results showed that form and source of support for Muhammadiyah schools is internal as well as external. School support also comes from internal and external support, such as: committee, parents, stakeholders, foundation, education official, collages, and related institutions. Directly and indirectly effect, contribution of school supporting component (Bac) to be school autonomous (Kms) up to 0.30.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the impact of the utilization of technology on learning outcomes through a meta-analysis. Data was collected by documenting research that is resulted from various sources collected through internet. These articles were published from 2006 to 2019, in United Nations Language. The article discusses the influence of information and communication technology (ICT) on learning achievement, analyzed qualitatively, describing the data in the form of sample size, standard deviation, and average, and published in journals indexed in Google Scholar. The analysis design employed a contrast group with the random effect model that the effect size is corrected. The analysis was used JASP software for calculating the average aggregate difference, drawing a forest plot, and publication bias. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant difference between groups using ICT and non-ICT in the learning process (SE=1.13), groups of students who utilizing ICT in the learning have better learning outcomes than those who do not use ICT. Based on the results of the analysis, it is very clear the urgency of implementing ICT in supporting the learning process. Schools should conduct an assessment of the condition of the school and students and then choose the appropriate ICT implementation. Thus, the quality of the learning process and students' technological literacy improve.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop a curriculum design evaluation instrument in strengthening Al-Irsyad ideology. The research activity began with a literature review on the curriculum then continues with the development of the instrument. The results of the development of the instrument items were validated by 11 experts and tested on a limited scale by involving 17 teachers from Al-Irsyad Junior High School, Surakarta, Cirebon, and Purwokerto, Indonesia. The next activity was an expanded trial involving 53 teachers from Al-Irsyad schools in West Java, Central Java, and East Java, the territory of the Republic of Indonesia. Data from expert reviews were analyzed by using Aiken's formula. Limited trial data were analyzed with the EFA model using the help of the SPSS program, and data from the extended trial results were analyzed by CFA using the help of the Smart PLS version 2.0 program. The results indicated that the instrument has a good validity guarantee because the loading factor value ranges from 0.5571-0.9463 (>0.5), and the AVE value ranges from 0.5901-0.8051 (>0.5), and has guaranteed reliability because of the CR value ranges from 0.8394-0.9397 (>0.7) and Cronbach alpha ranges from 0.7692-0.9286 (>0.7). The instrument feasible to be used as a measurement tool in evaluating the Al-Irsyad curriculum design in Indonesia.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the development of the veil in Indonesia, especially among higher education has become a concern lately. This is due to the view of the public about the relationship between the use of the veil with the influence of certain ideologies. This research aims to determine the reasons and motivations for the use of the veil among female students, perceptions received in the surrounding environment, and obstacles encountered. This research uses a phenomenological approach as part of qualitative research. Participants in this research were 12 female students from private universities in Yogyakarta. The method of in-depth interviews using interview guide instruments becomes a technique in collecting data. Data analysis using semantic reduction is done by identifying important statements from the results of the interview, determining the theme of the discussion, and describing the significance of the whole experience of veiled students. The results showed that there were five main themes in the use of the veil in higher education, namely the average age of female students who used veil, motivation and reasons for using a veil, perceptions from within themselves and their environment, constraints encountered, and consistency in wearing a veil. Some of the findings obtained are certainly new references that need to be further developed. Therefore, knowledge about Islamophobia especially the perception of the phenomenon of the veil is important for educational institutions in determining policy and for the community to be a reference in dealing with the phenomenon.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) menghasilkan media pembelajaran; dan (2) mendeskripsikan efektivitas media video animasi untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan karakter kerja keras siswa kelas V SD Gugus Sodo Kecamatan Paliyan. Penelitian dan pengembangan ini mengacu pada sepuluh langkah yang dikembangkan Borg Gall. Desain pengembangan dilakukan dari langkah pertama sampai kesembilan, yaitu: (1) studi pendahuluan; (2) perencanaan; (3) pengembangan produk awal; (4) uji coba awal; (5) revisi produk awal; (6) uji coba lapangan; (7) revisi produk hasil uji coba lapangan; (8) uji coba lapangan operasional; dan (9) revisi produk akhir. Uji coba produk menggunakan teknik quasi experiment untuk menguji produk yang dikembangkannya. Keefektifan media video animasi untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan karakter kerja keras siswa diketahui dengan menggunakan uji t. Efektivitas dilihat dari rata-rata skor motivasi belajar dan karakter kerja keras pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Terdapat perbedaan signifikan skor motivasi belajar dan karakter kerja keras siswa antara sebelumdan sesudah menggunakan media video animasi dalam pembelajaran. Kata Kunci: media video animasi, motivasi belajar, karakter kerja keras DEVELOPING ANIMATION VIDEO MEDIA TO IMPROVE LEARNING MOTIVATION AND CHARACTER HARD WORK ON THE FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS OFELEMENTARY SCHOOL Abstract: This study aims to (1) produce; and (2) determine the effectiveness of animations video media to improve learning motivation and character the hard work on the fifth grade students of Elementary School Gugus Sodo District Paliyan. Research and development refers to the 10 steps developed by Borg Gall. The design of development was carried from the first step until the ninth, namely: (1) a preliminary study; (2) planning; (3) development of initial product; (4) the initial trials; (5) the revision of the initial product; (6) field trials; ( 7) revision of the results of a field trial products; (8) operational field trials; and (9) the revision of the final product. Product trial using quasi experiment tecnique to examine the product that has developed. For knowing the effectivity of animation video to enhanced learning motivation and hard work character using t test. The effectiveness seen from the average score of learning motivation and character of hard work on the experimental class and control class. Any difference of significance of learning motivation and hard work scores of students between the characters before and after using animed video media in learning. Abstract

Abstrak: Penanaman karakter religius sangat urgen dalam upaya mewujudkan tujuan pendidikan nasional. Telah banyak studi dilakukan untuk meneliti penanaman atau implementasi karakter religius pada peserta didik. Namun, masih belum banyak penelitian yang melakukan evaluasi dan pengukuran terhadap tingkat karakter religius mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur dan menjelaskan karakter religius pada mahasiswa program pascasarjana. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan populasi mahasiswa program pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta angkatan 2018. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan probability sampling dan proportionate stratified random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket tentang The Muslim Religiosity Personality Inventory (MRPI) untuk mengukur religiositas mereka. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan statistik inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa secara umum, mahasiswa program pascasarjana UNY memiliki skor religiositas yang tinggi. Adapun dari segi gender, tingkat religiositas cenderung merata, meskipun laki-laki meraih skor sedikit lebih tinggi dari perempuan. Adapun perdimensi, skor tertinggi adalah kesalehan personal, lalu kesalehan sosial dan terendah kesalehan ritual.Kata Kunci: karakter religius; mahasiswa program pascasarjana; religiusitas personal, religiusitas ritual, religiusitas sosialRELIGIOUS CHARACTER ON STUDENTS OF POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM AT YOGYAKARTA STATE UNIVERSITY Abstract: The cultivation of religious character is very urgent in the effort to realize the goals of national education. There have been many studies conducted to examine the planting or implementation of religious character in students. However, there are still not many studies that evaluate and measure the level of their religious character. This study aims to measure and explain the religious character of postgraduate students. This study used a quantitative approach with a population of postgraduate students of Yogyakarta State University of 2018. Sample ditermination used probability sampling and proportionate stratified random sampling. Data collection used a questionnaire about The Muslim Religiosity Personality Inventory (MRPI) to measure their religiosity. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. The results showed that in general, postgraduate students of Yogyakarta State University had high religiosity scores. In terms of gender, the level of religiosity tends to be evenly distributed, although men score slightly higher than women. As for the dimensions, the highest score is personal piety, then social piety, and the lowest is ritual piety.Keywords: religious character; students of postgraduate program; personal religiosity, ritual religiosity, social religiosity

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan implementasi Perda No 6 Tahun 2011 Tentang Perlindungan Anak yang Hidup di Jalan oleh Dinas Sosial DIY; (2) mendeskripsikan hambatan-hambatan dalam memenuhi hak dan kebutuhan anak jalanan; (3) dan mendeskripsikan solusi dalam mengatasi hambatan yang ditemukan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian evaluasi dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif menggunakan model evaluasi kesenjangan. Responden penelitian terdiri atas staf perlindungan anak, pengasuh Rumah Perlindungan Sosial dan Lembaga Kesejahteraan Sosial Anak, dan anak jalanan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, kuesioner, dan dokumentasi. Keabsahan data kualitatif menggunakan uji kredibilitas, transferabilitas, dependabilitas, dan konfirmabilitas. Validitas instrumen menggunakan validitas isi, dan estimasi reliabilitas angket menggunakan Cronbach Alpha dengan koefisien sebesar 0,75. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Dinas Sosial telah memenuhi hak dan kebutuhan anak jalanan dengan baik, kecuali pemenuhan hak identitas. Tugas Dinas Sosial selanjutnya adalah memenuhi hak identitas anak jalanan melalui kerjasama yang berkelanjutan dengan semua pihak terkait.Kata kunci: perlindungan, pemenuhan hak dan kebutuhan, anak jalanan. AN EVALUATION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF REGIONAL REGULATION NUMBER 6 OF 2011 ABOUT STREET CHILDREN PROTECTIONAbstractThis research aims to: (1) describe the implementation of Regional Regulation Number 6 of 2011 about Street Children Protection (the fulfillment of children rights) was realized by Social Office of DIY, (2) describe the obstacles found by the Social Office of DIY in fulfill the rights and the needs of street children, (3) and to describe the solution to overcome the obstacles found. This was an evaluation research that used quantitative and quantitative descriptive approach with the discrepancy evaluation model. The respondents in this research consisted of the staff of street children protection, caretakers in social protection houses and child social welfare institutions, and street children. Data collection was done through interviews, observation, questionnaire and documentation. The validity and reliability of qualitative data was measured through credibility, transfer-ability, dependability, and confirm-ability testing. Research instrument validity was measured through content validity and the testing of questionnaire instrument is through Cronbach Alpha with a coefficient of 0.75. The results of this research show that the rights and needs of street children has fulfill well by Social Office, except in fulfilling the right of identity. The next task of the Social Office is to fulfill the rights of the street children’s identity through ongoing collaboration with all relevant agencies.Keywords: protection, fulfillment of rights and needs, street children

Abstract

Observation is argued as the most suitable technique to assess the execution of authentic assessment. Unfortunately, it requires great amount of time and money. We need an alternative. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop an instrument in the form of a student assessment sheet on the implementation of authentic assessments in Mathematics subjects. This research is a development research that uses standard procedures for developing instruments. The result of the analysis with Aiken’s formula showed that every item of the instrument was in a good category. The result of the analyses using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and Multitrait-Multimethod showed that the instrument had good construct validity. The result of reliability estimation using Cronbach Alpha  (α) also showed that the instrument was in the reliable category. Thus, it can be concluded that the instrument in the form of student assessment sheets for assessing the implementation of authentic assessment in junior high school Mathematics learning is highly valid and reliable, which means that the developed instrument can replace the equivalent observation sheet.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan memperoleh model akreditasi SMA/MA yang efektif, efisien, dan akuntabel. Produk model yang dikembangkan adalah instrumen akreditasi dan prosedur akreditasi. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian pengembangan. Pengembangan model dilakukan melalui kegiatan focus group disscussion (FGD). Validasi instrumen dilakukan oleh pakar, sedangkan validasi prosedur dilakukan oleh peserta FGD. Validitas isi instrumen ditentukan dengan cara menghitung indeks koefisien V Aiken, sedangkan estimasi reliabilitas instrumen ditentukan dengan teknik intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) menggunakan SPSS. Validasi prosedur dilakukan dengan cara menghitung rerata skor hasil penilaian peserta FGD. Uji coba dilakukan untuk mengetahui keefektifan model yang dikembangkan. Subjek coba adalah praktisi terdiri dari kepala sekolah, guru, dan tenaga administrasi. Keefektifan model ditentukan dengan cara menghitung rerata skor hasil penilaian praktisi. Model akreditasi yang dikembangkan diberi nama Model Akreditasi SMART. Kesimpulan tentang Model Akreditasi SMART: (1) memiliki karakteristik sebagai model akreditasi SMA/MA yang efektif, efisien, dan akuntabel; (2) instrumen yang digunakan memiliki validitas dalam kategori sangat baik dan reliabilitas dalam kategori baik; (3) prosedur akreditasi seperti dipaparkan di atas mendapat penilaian baik dari peserta FGD;  dan (4) keefektifan model termasuk kategori baik dan dapat digunakan.Kata kunci: model akreditasi, instrumen akreditasi, prosedur akreditasi  DEVELOPING AN ACCREDITATION MODEL OF SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL (SMA/MA)AbstractThis study is aimed at obtaining an effective, efficient and accountable accreditation model for Senior Secondary School/Madrasah Aliyah (SMA/MA). The product of the model developed is an  accreditation instrument and procedure. This study is a research and development (R D). The model developing was conducted through focus group discussion (FGD). Instrument validation was done by experts, while the procedure validation was performed by the FGD participants. The content validity of the instrument was determined by calculating the V Aiken coefficient index, while the instrument reliability estimation was determined by using intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) using SPSS. Procedure validation was done by calculating the mean score of the FGD participants’ assessment results. Trial was conducted to find out the effectiveness of the developed model. The subject of the trial was practitioners comprising of principals, teachers, and administrative personnels. The effectiveness of the model was determined by calculating the average score of the practitioners’ assessment. The accreditation model developed was named SMART Accreditation Model. The conclusion on the SMART Accreditation Model are as follows: (1) having the characteristics of an effective, efficient, and accountable accreditation model for SMA/MA; (2) the content validity and reliability of the instrument used are in a very good category; (3) the afore-mentioned accreditation procedure is considered to be good by the FGD participants; and (4) the effectiveness of the model is in a good category and it can be used.Keywords: accreditation model, accreditation instrument, accreditation procedure
