Abstract

China's foreign policy towards Afghanistan in the 2014-2023 period has changed in a more proactive direction. Moreover, when the Taliban succeeded in taking power in Afghanistan, China decided to maintain its concession with the country that had replaced the regime that has shown a significant change in its foreign policy towards Afghanistan, after previously freezing diplomatic relations with the country when the Taliban's first occupation occurred in the 1996-2001 period. Therefore, this research is held to determine the reasons for China's foreign policy changes towards Afghanistan from 2014 to 2023, in terms of political-economic analysis. The theory used is foreign policy, using the Goldmann model and the Holsti model approach to identify changes in China's foreign policy towards Afghanistan. The method used in this research is explanatory with data sources obtained through interviews and literature study. In the data analysis stage, the authors sort out information that is relevant to the research topic, followed by the process of presenting data and drawing conclusions. The final results of this research show that Xi Jinping is the main actor behind changes in China's foreign policy towards Afghanistan since 2014. Securing China's economic interests in the development of Gwadar Port, a significant energy infrastructure project in BRI cooperation, became one of the main considerations for Xi Jinping to change China's foreign policy towards Afghanistan.

Abstract

The enactment of the United States’ National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2019, particularly Article 889, created significant non-tariff pressure on China’s high-tech export sector by restricting the procurement and use of products from major Chinese technology firms. This situation raised concerns about China’s export vulnerability and the long-term implications of geopolitical trade tensions. This study aims to examine China’s export reform strategies formulated in response to the NDAA, focusing on institutional coordination, financial support mechanisms, fiscal incentives, and the development of high-tech industrial ecosystems. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through literature review of policy documents, academic publications, and official reports, complemented by interviews with a China political expert and an Indonesian diplomat specializing in Asia–Pacific economic affairs. The findings reveal that China’s policy adjustments were not reactive measures but components of a long-term industrial strategy. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) played a central coordinating role in aligning fiscal, industrial, and diplomatic instruments. Strengthened financing through Sinosure and the Export-Import Bank of China, combined with increased export tax rebates and industrial zone incentives, enabled high-tech firms to diversify markets and sustain competitiveness. The study concludes that China’s export reform reflects a strategic model of state-led resilience, demonstrating how coordinated institutional policies can mitigate external trade shocks and maintain export stability amid intensifying geopolitical competition. Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has brought significant changes in the way teenagers access information, communicate, and build their social identity. However, the high intensity of internet use is not always matched by adequate digital literacy skills, making teenagers vulnerable to various risks such as the spread of hoaxes, misuse of social media, violations of digital ethics, and low critical thinking skills. This digital literacy outreach activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of teenagers at the Al Kamilah Foundation in Serua Village, Bojongsari, Depok, in using digital technology intelligently, critically, and responsibly. The methods used include interactive material delivery, group discussions, and simple simulations related to digital information evaluation, media ethics, and the use of technology for self-development and learning. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the concept of digital literacy, awareness of the importance of digital ethics, and initial ability to assess the credibility of information in digital media. This activity is expected to be the first step in building a sustainable digital literacy culture among teenagers, particularly in supporting lifelong learning and readiness to face the challenges of a digital society.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed social media into a major catalyst for the economic empowerment of local communities. However, this potential is often hampered by the lack of public understanding of effective digital marketing strategies, which result in many local businesses still using the platform conventional and trapped in a medium-dominated commercial system. This community service activity aims to empower PKK mothers in Desa Mekarjaya, Sukabumi, Jawa Barat, by utilizing social media as a self-distribution channel. The implementation method uses a participatory-educative approach, with pre-test and post-test assessments to measure the increase in knowledge. Pre-test results show that the majority of participants have never received training on the economic benefits of social media and most use it only to communicate. Through extension, participants are taught practical strategies such as the technique of taking photos of products using mobile phones, creating persuasive product descriptions, and active communication to build customer trust. Materials are emphasized on the importance of recognizing the peculiarities of local products and consistent in posting to build a credible digital track record. Results showed significant improvement in participants’ understanding; the majority of respondents had understood the economic benefits of social media and considered it an effective new market for local business promotion, particularly local food. The activity successfully cuts the long distribution chain, enabling PKK mothers to control their product prices, increase profit margins, and build sustainable financial independence. Continuous mentoring is required to improve technical skills and further innovation.

Abstract

As a key element of the political economy, cross-border trade makes a substantial contribution to community welfare while also supporting national economic growth. West Kalimantan, which borders Sarawak, Malaysia, serves as a strategic economic corridor in Indonesia, facilitating the movement of people and goods through the National Border Post. Although local products are the main commodities traded at this border, issues of product competitiveness, market stability, and border security pose major challenges to trade. Within the framework of cross-border political economy, this study examines both the opportunities and challenges in trading local products. It emphasizes how government initiatives, institutional coordination, and security management shape sustainable trade. Data was collected using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with institutional representatives, the Indonesian Consulate General in Kuching, central and local government officials, and document analysis. Triangulation of methods and sources was used to ensure data validity. The study shows that good political coordination, institutional synergy, and border stability are essential to improving the competitiveness of local products in cross-border trade.
