Abstract

This study examines the effect of corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure on information asymmetry in the Indonesian capital market, with firm risk as a mediating variable in a green finance setting. CSR disclosure is viewed as a strategic transparency instrument that can reduce uncertainty about firms’ environmental, social, and governance practices and, therefore, lower information asymmetry between managers and outside investors. Using a sample of listed firms in Indonesia, CSR disclosure is measured through a content analysis–based index, while information asymmetry is proxied by relative bid–ask spread. Firm risk is captured by stock return volatility.  The empirical model uses regression and mediation analysis, with the help of the Smart PLS program. Based on the analysis results, it was found that CSR disclosure was proven to play a significant role in reducing information asymmetry in the Indonesian capital market, thus confirming the relevance of CSR disclosure as a mechanism for transparency and strengthening the quality of the information environment within the framework of green finance. However, CSR disclosure does not have a significant effect on corporate risk, and corporate risk also does not have a significant effect on information asymmetry, so empirically, the risk variable is unable to mediate the relationship between CSR disclosure and information asymmetry.

Abstract

Banun Songket Enterprise is a Minangkabau weaving business group located in Solok Regency. Despite its strong potential, the enterprise continues to face several obstacles, particularly in terms of limited motif design variations and the relatively low utilization of social media platforms for promotional purposes. This community service program aimed to enhance product competitiveness through the creation of more attractive motifs, the use of digital design to accelerate production, and the optimization of social media marketing to expand market reach beyond the local area. The activities were realized through a combination of intensive training and ongoing business mentoring. Training was conducted over two days, while personalized business consultations were held over six months in six sessions. Outcomes were assessed through three stages: socialization and licensing, implementation (including motif design training, digital design, and social media marketing assistance), and monitoring and evaluation. The program successfully produced three new motifs with more appealing designs and established professional Instagram and TikTok accounts for Banun Songket. Both management and artisans showed high enthusiasm throughout the activities. However, challenges remain in ensuring continuous practice for digital motif design and maintaining consistent social media content due to the artisans’ busy schedules in fulfilling weaving orders. Future programs are expected to continue with support from Universitas Andalas and the Solok Regency Government.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effects of financial literacy and self-control on the financial planning of the sandwich generation in Indonesia and to examine the moderating role of income level in the relationship between financial literacy and financial planning. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal-associative research design. The population consisted of the sandwich generation in Indonesia. A total of 91 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4. Finding: The findings reveal that financial literacy has no significant effect on financial planning, while self-control and income level have a positive and significant effect on financial planning. In addition, income level does not significantly moderate the relationship between financial literacy and financial planning. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in examining the financial planning behavior of the sandwich generation in Indonesia by integrating financial literacy and self-control within a single research model while investigating the moderating role of income level. This study provides empirical evidence that self-control and income level play a more important role in financial planning than financial literacy alone. Unlike mainstream financial literacy research which consistently identifies knowledge as the primary determinant of financial planning, this study uncovers a different pattern for Indonesia's sandwich generation: self-control operates as the stronger and more consistent predictor of planning behavior. This counter-intuitive finding contradicts the conventional assumption that "more financial education" is the solution for improving financial planning. Additionally, the study clarifies the inconsistent findings regarding income's role in previous research by demonstrating that income acts as a direct resource enabler rather than conditioning the effectiveness of financial literacy. These insights suggest that effective financial interventions for populations facing multi-generational obligations require emphasis on behavioral capacity-building and structural economic support, not knowledge enhancement alone.
