Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using digital comics as a visual medium in teaching expository writing at the secondary school level. The research employed an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of two groups: an experimental group that utilized digital comics and a control group that followed conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through writing proficiency tests and questionnaires measuring students’ interest and learning motivation. The findings revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The average writing test score of the experimental group was higher (82.4) compared to the control group (68.3), with a t-test result indicating a p-value of 0.000. Additionally, the questionnaire showed that 85% of students in the experimental group reported higher interest in learning, in contrast to 58% in the control group. These results suggest that digital comics can enhance expository writing skills and student motivation. The use of digital comics helps students better understand the structure of expository texts through engaging and interactive visual elements. In addition to improving students’ writing quality, digital comics also make the learning process more enjoyable and flexible. Therefore, this study concludes that digital comics can serve as an effective and innovative learning medium to enhance expository writing skills in the digital era.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of digital literacy on the ability to understand texts in secondary school students using a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature study method. The results of the study indicate that digital literacy has a positive and significant impact on improving students' ability to understand texts. The implementation of technology such as the Picture and Picture method and the use of QR Codes have proven effective in increasing students' interest, involvement, and skills in analyzing and interpreting texts. Digital literacy not only strengthens literal understanding of texts but also develops critical and creative thinking skills needed to evaluate information in the digital era. A structured digital learning strategy with stages of prediction, discussion, explanation, observation, and reflection shows better learning outcomes than conventional methods. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating digital literacy into the secondary education curriculum to prepare students to face the challenges of information in today's technological era.

Abstract

Abstrac: This study examines the language politeness strategies of netizens in the TikTok comment section responding to the UTBK jockey case by medical students using a pragmatic approach. Using descriptive qualitative method, the study analyzed the top 15 comments from the viral video based on Leech's politeness theory. The results show a variety of politeness strategies as some netizens apply the maxims of sympathy and generosity in providing support by considering economic factors and the future of the perpetrator, while violations of the maxims of tact and respect occur when expressing disapproval. The context of the situation plays a significant role in influencing the use of politeness maxims, especially on issues that touch on moral values and social justice. These findings indicate that TikTok is not just a means to find entertainment but also a discursive space where language politeness becomes an indicator of the ethical position and moral judgment of digital society.

Abstract

Writing is a complex language skill that requires an appropriate pedagogical approach in its teaching. This study aims to examine in depth the various pedagogical approaches used in teaching Indonesian writing, based on empirical and theoretical literature. A literature search was conducted of various indexed national and international journals published between. The study results indicate that five main pedagogical approaches are predominantly used: the process approach, the genre approach, the thematic-integrative approach, the contextual approach, and the technology-based approach. Each approach has advantages in improving specific aspects of students' writing skills, from idea development and text structure to increasing creativity and language accuracy. This study also highlights the importance of integrating pedagogical theory with learner needs in classroom practice. By understanding the characteristics and effectiveness of each approach, teachers can adapt strategies appropriate to the learning context and student needs. This study is expected to serve as a reference in curriculum development and learning strategies, as well as improving the competence of Indonesian language teachers in teaching writing skills more effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Literacy competency is an essential skill in 21st-century education, and writing skills, as part of basic literacy, play a crucial role in enhancing students' critical thinking and expressive abilities. This study aims to examine various Indonesian writing learning models oriented toward strengthening literacy competency in schools. Through a literature review of 20 scientific articles, reference books, and research findings from the past five years, it was found that learning approaches focused on active student engagement, the use of digital media, and the contextualization of students' personal experiences demonstrate significant results in improving writing and literacy skills across the board. Five dominant learning models were identified: project-based learning, genre-based learning, process-based writing, digital literacy-based learning, and collaborative learning. The study's results demonstrate that integrating learning models relevant to students' needs and contexts is crucial in supporting the development of writing literacy. This study recommends the use of models that accommodate diverse learning styles and provide reflective space for students to write authentically. These findings can serve as a reference for teachers, education practitioners, and curriculum developers in designing more effective and literate Indonesian writing learning strategies.

Abstract

Learning to write is an essential skill in education because it requires students to master not only the technical aspects of language but also critical, reflective, and creative thinking skills. In the context of 21st-century education, a deep learning approach is seen as an effective strategy for developing students' writing skills. This approach focuses on meaningful understanding, connecting ideas, and the ability to analyze and evaluate information, ultimately contributing to the quality of writing. This article presents a literature review exploring the relationship between deep learning and writing skills, covering its principles, implementation, and challenges faced in elementary and secondary education contexts. Recent studies indicate that students who learn through a deep learning approach tend to produce more structured, argumentative, and original writing. This is because they are trained to connect new knowledge with experience, reflect, and construct logical arguments. However, the implementation of deep learning in practice still faces obstacles, such as limited time, teacher capacity, and a learning culture that is still oriented towards memorization. Therefore, this literature review emphasizes the importance of integrating deep learning strategies into the Indonesian language curriculum, particularly in writing, so that students can develop more critical, creative, and contextual literacy skills.

Abstract

Writing skills are a complex language competency because they require critical thinking skills, mastery of language structures, and creativity in expressing ideas. However, writing learning still faces challenges, especially in providing fast, personalized, and appropriate feedback to students' needs. Along with the development of artificial intelligence technology, especially deep learning, new opportunities have emerged to optimize the writing learning process. This literature review article aims to analyze the role of deep learning-assisted learning systems in improving students' writing skills. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various recent studies related to the implementation of deep learning in the context of language education, especially writing. The results of the study indicate that deep learning can contribute in five main aspects, namely: (1) automation of text analysis to detect grammatical errors and writing style, (2) personalization of learning through content recommendations that suit students' needs, (3) increasing creativity by providing stimulus ideas through artificial intelligence-based systems, (4) efficiency of the evaluation process through automatic and fast feedback, and (5) integration of collaborative learning based on digital platforms that enable students to learn to write interactively. Thus, the application of deep learning in writing learning can be an innovative strategy to improve the effectiveness and quality of language learning in the digital era. Further research is needed to develop adaptive, ethical learning models that are oriented toward strengthening students' digital literacy.

Abstract

The ability to write poetry is an important part of learning Indonesian language and literature because it supports the development of self-expression, creativity, and language skills. However, in reality, many junior high school students still have difficulty expressing their ideas and feelings in the form of communicative and meaningful poetry. This community service activity aims to provide poetry writing training to students of Muhammadiyah Rappang Junior High School through an expressive approach. This approach emphasizes students' freedom to express their thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences into poetry. The method of implementing the activity includes counseling, poetry writing practice, and joint reflection. The results of the training showed an increase in students' interest and ability in writing poetry. Students become more confident in expressing inner experiences through more varied diction, imagery, and language styles. In addition, the expressive approach encourages an inclusive and participatory learning atmosphere. Thus, this training not only improves poetry writing skills, but also builds students' emotional and aesthetic awareness. This activity is expected to be a model of literacy activities that can be applied in other schools in order to strengthen character education and artistic expression.

Abstract

The digital era presents new challenges and opportunities in education, particularly in developing students' creativity and writing skills. The deep learning approach is one relevant strategy to address these demands. This approach emphasizes conceptual understanding, critical reflection, and active emotional and cognitive engagement in the learning process. Through deep learning, students are not only able to memorize but also able to construct knowledge, innovate, and express creative ideas in meaningful writing. This literature review aims to examine the role of the deep learning approach in enhancing creativity and writing skills in the digital era. The research method used a literature review approach by reviewing various national and international journals from 2019–2025. The results of the study indicate that deep learning integrated with digital technology can foster reflective thinking skills, increase originality of ideas, and strengthen writing skills through the use of digital media such as blogs, collaborative platforms, and AI-based applications. Thus, the application of this approach is not only relevant in the context of 21st-century learning but also an effective strategy for creating a creative, critical, and digitally literate generation.

Abstract

Learning to write poetry has significant potential in shaping students' character, particularly in fostering empathy and humanitarian values. Poetry is not only a means of aesthetic expression but also a medium for self-reflection on social, emotional, and moral experiences. This literature review aims to analyze the role of learning to write poetry in fostering empathy and humanitarian values ​​in elementary school students. The research was conducted by reviewing various national and international scientific articles published between 2018 and 2025. The results indicate that learning to write poetry can increase students' emotional sensitivity to the social environment, strengthen their ability to understand others' feelings, and foster moral awareness through reflective and creative processes. Effective learning strategies in this context include appreciative, reflective, and contextual approaches supported by digital media relevant to children's worlds. Through poetry writing activities, students learn to interpret personal and social experiences into meaningful literary works. This study confirms that learning to write poetry has strategic value in character education, particularly in shaping an empathetic, cultured, and humane generation.
