Abstract

Expository text writing is an essential skill in Indonesian language education at the junior high school level. However, students’ writing performance in expository texts remains relatively low, particularly in the aspects of idea organization, clarity of arguments, and proper language use. This literature study aims to explore the implementation of visual animation media as a learning tool to enhance students’ skills in writing expository texts. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review of various national and international journals published between 2020 and 2025. The findings indicate that visual animation media can increase students’ learning motivation, facilitate understanding of text structure, and assist students in developing ideas logically and coherently. Furthermore, animation effectively establishes connections between the topic and real-life contexts, thereby strengthening students’ arguments in expository writing. The use of interactive animations incorporating narrative, visual, and audio elements creates a more engaging and communicative learning environment. This study recommends integrating animation media into expository writing instruction as part of innovative, technology-based teaching strategies. It is expected that these findings will contribute to improving the quality of writing instruction in junior high schools more effectively and enjoyably.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using visual media in improving argumentative text writing skills in adolescents. Argumentative text writing skills are one of the important competencies in education, especially in adolescence, which requires critical and argumentative thinking skills. Visual media, such as images, graphics, videos, and infographics, can function as aids in clarifying and enriching the concepts to be written. In this study, various relevant literature studies on the influence of visual media on argumentative writing skills were reviewed. Based on the literature analysis, it was found that visual media can improve understanding, creativity, and argumentation skills in adolescents. In addition, visual media can also help adolescents in compiling clearer and more structured arguments, resulting in more effective argumentative texts. The results of this study indicate that the proper application of visual media can be an effective strategy in improving argumentative text writing skills in adolescents.

Abstract

The skill of writing persuasive texts is one of the important competencies in learning Indonesian that requires students to be able to convey ideas with the aim of influencing readers. However, the reality in the field shows that many students have difficulty in writing convincingly, both in terms of content, structure, and language use. This study aims to examine theoretically and empirically how visual media can be used as a means to improve the ability to write persuasive texts at the elementary and secondary education levels. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various journal articles, books, and relevant previous research. The results of the study show that visual media such as images, posters, infographics, and animated videos can stimulate ideas, strengthen arguments, and help students understand the context and structure of persuasive texts more concretely. In addition, visual media also increases student motivation and involvement in the writing process. These findings confirm that the integration of visual media in persuasive writing learning is highly recommended for educators to implement. This study provides implications that teachers need to design creative learning with visual support so that students can express their ideas effectively and persuasively.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using digital comics as a visual medium in teaching expository writing at the secondary school level. The research employed an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of two groups: an experimental group that utilized digital comics and a control group that followed conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through writing proficiency tests and questionnaires measuring students’ interest and learning motivation. The findings revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The average writing test score of the experimental group was higher (82.4) compared to the control group (68.3), with a t-test result indicating a p-value of 0.000. Additionally, the questionnaire showed that 85% of students in the experimental group reported higher interest in learning, in contrast to 58% in the control group. These results suggest that digital comics can enhance expository writing skills and student motivation. The use of digital comics helps students better understand the structure of expository texts through engaging and interactive visual elements. In addition to improving students’ writing quality, digital comics also make the learning process more enjoyable and flexible. Therefore, this study concludes that digital comics can serve as an effective and innovative learning medium to enhance expository writing skills in the digital era.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of digital literacy on the ability to understand texts in secondary school students using a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature study method. The results of the study indicate that digital literacy has a positive and significant impact on improving students' ability to understand texts. The implementation of technology such as the Picture and Picture method and the use of QR Codes have proven effective in increasing students' interest, involvement, and skills in analyzing and interpreting texts. Digital literacy not only strengthens literal understanding of texts but also develops critical and creative thinking skills needed to evaluate information in the digital era. A structured digital learning strategy with stages of prediction, discussion, explanation, observation, and reflection shows better learning outcomes than conventional methods. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating digital literacy into the secondary education curriculum to prepare students to face the challenges of information in today's technological era.

Abstract

Abstrac: This study examines the language politeness strategies of netizens in the TikTok comment section responding to the UTBK jockey case by medical students using a pragmatic approach. Using descriptive qualitative method, the study analyzed the top 15 comments from the viral video based on Leech's politeness theory. The results show a variety of politeness strategies as some netizens apply the maxims of sympathy and generosity in providing support by considering economic factors and the future of the perpetrator, while violations of the maxims of tact and respect occur when expressing disapproval. The context of the situation plays a significant role in influencing the use of politeness maxims, especially on issues that touch on moral values and social justice. These findings indicate that TikTok is not just a means to find entertainment but also a discursive space where language politeness becomes an indicator of the ethical position and moral judgment of digital society.

Abstract

Writing is a complex language skill that requires an appropriate pedagogical approach in its teaching. This study aims to examine in depth the various pedagogical approaches used in teaching Indonesian writing, based on empirical and theoretical literature. A literature search was conducted of various indexed national and international journals published between. The study results indicate that five main pedagogical approaches are predominantly used: the process approach, the genre approach, the thematic-integrative approach, the contextual approach, and the technology-based approach. Each approach has advantages in improving specific aspects of students' writing skills, from idea development and text structure to increasing creativity and language accuracy. This study also highlights the importance of integrating pedagogical theory with learner needs in classroom practice. By understanding the characteristics and effectiveness of each approach, teachers can adapt strategies appropriate to the learning context and student needs. This study is expected to serve as a reference in curriculum development and learning strategies, as well as improving the competence of Indonesian language teachers in teaching writing skills more effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Literacy competency is an essential skill in 21st-century education, and writing skills, as part of basic literacy, play a crucial role in enhancing students' critical thinking and expressive abilities. This study aims to examine various Indonesian writing learning models oriented toward strengthening literacy competency in schools. Through a literature review of 20 scientific articles, reference books, and research findings from the past five years, it was found that learning approaches focused on active student engagement, the use of digital media, and the contextualization of students' personal experiences demonstrate significant results in improving writing and literacy skills across the board. Five dominant learning models were identified: project-based learning, genre-based learning, process-based writing, digital literacy-based learning, and collaborative learning. The study's results demonstrate that integrating learning models relevant to students' needs and contexts is crucial in supporting the development of writing literacy. This study recommends the use of models that accommodate diverse learning styles and provide reflective space for students to write authentically. These findings can serve as a reference for teachers, education practitioners, and curriculum developers in designing more effective and literate Indonesian writing learning strategies.

Abstract

Writing skills are a crucial component in developing student literacy at the junior high school (SMP) level. Teachers play a strategic role in developing these skills through relevant and impactful pedagogical approaches. This study, a literature review, aims to examine various teacher strategies for developing students' writing skills that positively contribute to their literacy development. Data were collected from various scientific articles, educational journals, and research reports published in the past five years. The study's findings indicate that strategies such as a writing process-based approach, the use of digital media, formative feedback, collaborative learning, and the integration of real-life contexts into writing assignments have proven effective in increasing student motivation and writing quality. Furthermore, the teacher's role as a facilitator, capable of guiding and providing space for the exploration of ideas, also strengthens students' interest and literacy skills. This study recommends the development of professional training for teachers to enhance their competency in implementing innovative and impactful writing learning strategies. The implications of this study indicate that targeted writing skills not only improve student literacy but also strengthen critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills, which are essential in today's digital age.

Abstract

Keterampilan menulis merupakan kompetensi dasar yang sangat penting dalam pendidikan, khususnya dalam konteks pembelajaran bahasa di sekolah. Namun, tantangan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa masih cukup besar, terutama akibat kurangnya minat dan motivasi belajar. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menelaah secara sistematis bagaimana implementasi media visual mampu memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks siswa di berbagai jenjang pendidikan, khususnya pendidikan dasar dan menengah. Melalui pendekatan studi literatur, penulis mengkaji sejumlah artikel ilmiah, buku referensi, serta hasil penelitian sebelumnya yang relevan dengan topik. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa media visual, seperti gambar, video, komik digital, dan infografis, mampu merangsang imajinasi, memfasilitasi pemahaman isi, serta meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kreatif siswa dalam menuangkan ide secara tertulis. Temuan juga menyoroti bahwa media visual membantu mengurangi beban kognitif siswa dalam proses menulis, serta menjembatani keterbatasan kosakata dan struktur kalimat. Kesimpulannya, media visual berkontribusi signifikan dalam mengembangkan keterampilan menulis teks melalui integrasi multimodal yang menarik dan interaktif. Implikasi dari studi ini penting untuk pengembangan strategi pembelajaran inovatif berbasis teknologi visual di kelas.
