Abstract

Higher education today requires pedagogies that not only teach technical skills but also transform the ways students think and engage with knowledge. This study investigates the use of context-rich problems (CRPs) as a framework for developing complex problem-solving (CPS) in university-level electricity courses. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected from 34 students across four Indonesian universities, representing diverse cultural and institutional settings. The findings show that CRPs encouraged transformative learning by shifting students from procedural problem-solving to reflective, expert-like practices, such as qualitative reasoning, iterative planning, and selective information seeking. Contextual differences emerged: students in stronger academic environments demonstrated greater confidence and ability to connect theory with authentic contexts, while others relied more on formulaic strategies. These results highlight the influence of sociocultural and institutional contexts on transformative engagement. Embedding CRPs in science education can therefore foster conceptual understanding, critical awareness, and agency in approaching complex real-world problems. Furthermore, the study suggests that educators should consider incorporating CRPs into curricula to facilitate deeper learning experiences, particularly in fostering the skills necessary to tackle modern, interdisciplinary challenges.

Abstract

In the context of global secondary education, rapid technological advancements have revolutionized learning environments. Educators are increasingly integrating immersive and interactive tools to better engage digital-native students. Augmented Reality (AR), when combined with gamified learning platforms, has shown great potential to boost student participation and comprehension. This study aims to analyze and compare the learning needs of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs), including Islamic boarding schools, and Junior High School (JHS) students regarding AR-based digital learning materials integrated with the Quizizz platform. Using a descriptive quantitative design, the study employed data triangulation through questionnaires, classroom observations, and interviews to obtain a comprehensive view of students’ needs and preferences. The results indicate that both MTs and JHS students share similar needs for AR-based learning materials, particularly in interactive visualization, immediate feedback, and gamification features, although differences were found in specific interaction and feedback preferences. In conclusion, integrating AR technology with Quizizz can create more engaging and adaptive learning environments for secondary students. The study implies that Islamic education institutions can effectively adopt AR-based digital learning to support active learning, strengthen student engagement, and align instructional practices with contemporary technological developments.

Abstract

Peningkatan konsumsi bahan bakar fosil dan akumulasi limbah plastik menimbulkan persoalan lingkungan yang signifikan, termasuk tingginya emisi gas buang kendaraan bermotor. Pemanfaatan limbah plastik sebagai bahan bakar alternatif melalui pirolisis menawarkan potensi solusi, namun performa emisi hasil pembakarannya perlu dievaluasi lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan kadar emisi hidrokarbon (HC) dan karbon monoksida (CO) antara Bahan Bakar Alternatif (BBA) hasil pirolisis limbah plastik dengan Bahan Bakar Komersial (BBK) pada motor bakar 4 langkah. Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan Gas Analyzer HG-520 pada motor bensin 100 cc dengan putaran konstan 2000 RPM pada posisi transmisi Netral hingga Gigi 4. Parameter yang diukur meliputi konsentrasi CO (%) dan HC (ppm) sebagai indikator pembakaran tidak sempurna. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara rata-rata, penggunaan BBA menghasilkan emisi CO sebesar 0,78% dan HC sebesar 525,60 ppm, sedangkan BBK menghasilkan CO 0,86% dan HC 854,80 ppm. BBA memberikan penurunan emisi HC secara konsisten pada sebagian besar posisi gigi, kecuali pada Gigi 1 di mana terjadi peningkatan CO dan HC. Sementara itu, BBK menunjukkan kecenderungan peningkatan emisi HC pada gigi yang lebih tinggi. Perbedaan karakteristik emisi ini diduga dipengaruhi oleh volatilitas, indeks oksigen, rasio udara–bahan bakar, dan dinamika pembakaran masing-masing bahan bakar. Informasi tersebut mengindikasikan potensi BBA dari limbah plastik sebagai bahan bakar alternatif yang lebih ramah lingkungan, terutama dalam menekan emisi HC, namun memerlukan optimasi pada fase akselerasi awal dan peneliitian lanjutan.

Abstract

Utilization of local food for family food security through processing durian seeds containing carbohydrates and processed as a substitute for wheat flour. Baning Kota Village, Sintang District, with abundant availability of durian fruit, its use as a food ingredient is not optimal. The aim is to improve the knowledge and skills of mothers in processing durian seeds into ingredients for making additional food supplies (AFS) cakes. The method of implementation of the activity was carried out through an educational approach in the form of demonstrations and direct practice of making durian seed flour and cake processing. The activity was carried out in Baning Kota Village, Sintang District, targeting Family Empowerment and Welfare (FEW) mothers. The results of the activity increased understanding of the nutritional value of durian seeds, the processing process, and the ability to make flour and cakes. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from their active involvement during the activity and the ongoing discussions. This activity is effective as a community-based health promotion intervention and has the potential to support family food provision and improve nutritional status, especially for early childhood.

Abstract

Pembelajaran fisika di sekolah mitra masih menghadapi berbagai permasalahan, terutama keterbatasan media pembelajaran yang mendukung kegiatan praktikum serta belum optimalnya pemanfaatan potensi lingkungan dan kearifan lokal sebagai sumber belajar. Kondisi ini menyebabkan pembelajaran fisika cenderung bersifat teoritis, kurang kontekstual, dan berdampak pada rendahnya keterlibatan serta pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep fisika. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mendampingi guru dan siswa dalam mengembangkan dan memanfaatkan alat peraga fisika berbahan daur ulang yang terintegrasi dengan kearifan lokal Rokan Hulu. Permasalahan yang dihadapi dalam pembelajaran fisika di sekolah mitra adalah kurangnya ketersediaan alat peraga yang relevan dan rendahnya keterlibatan siswa dalam kegiatan praktikum. Melalui pendekatan partisipatif, kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam bentuk pelatihan, workshop, dan praktik langsung pembuatan alat peraga fisika sederhana yang mengangkat nilai-nilai lokal, seperti penggunaan bahan bekas dari lingkungan sekitar dan pengenalan budaya lokal dalam konteks sains. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman konsep fisika siswa yang ditandai dengan meningkatnya partisipasi aktif dalam praktikum, serta meningkatnya kemampuan guru dalam merancang dan memanfaatkan alat peraga fisika kontekstual berbahan daur ulang. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga menumbuhkan kesadaran guru dan siswa terhadap pemanfaatan limbah sebagai media pembelajaran yang bernilai edukatif dan ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan pendampingan ini diharapkan menjadi model pembelajaran yang inspiratif, kontekstual, dan berkelanjutan di daerah lain yang memiliki potensi lokal serupa.
