Abstract

This research was conducted on the critical thinking skills of students who still need to be critical but must still be directed to develop critical thinking. One way to encourage students to think critically is to apply the guided research learning model. Applying the guided research learning model in the learning process can support critical thinking skill of students. This aims of this study is to determine the effect of the guided inquiry learning model on the critical thinking skills of class XI Natural Science students on static and dynamic fluid materials. This type of research is quasi-experimental and only has a post-trial control group. The population for this study was obtained from students of class XI Natural Science in Islamic Senior High School.  Sampling was carried out using the cluster random sampling technique. Samples were taken randomly, and Class XI natural science 1 was taken as the experimental class and Class XI natural science 3 as the control class. Data analysis was performed using a statistical t-test. The results showed that critical thinking skill of students ranged from 76.74 in the experimental class to 69.32 in the comparison class. Based on the T distribution table, obtained tbltable.04 and t count of 5.62. The condition for rejecting H0 is if the ttable < tcount. H1 is accepted because the t count value rejects H0. This confirms that applying the model of guided inquiry learning influences critical thinking skill of students in static and dynamic fluid  material.

Abstract

The importance of the ability to think critically and creatively in the learning process, especially in physics, is a challenge for educators to continue to improve the quality of learning, both in implementing the learning process and developing appropriate learning resources. This study aims to develop valid interactive learning media with the help of the Lectora Inspire application to improve the critical and creative thinking skills of high school students, especially in straight and parabolic motion material. The research design used the ADDIE model, including the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This research is being developed through validation activities from three validators from the Padang State University physics department. The instrument for collecting data was an interactive learning media assessment sheet validated by experts. The subjects of this study were experts from the physics department lecturer Padang State University. The data analysis technique used Aiken's validity index. The validation results of learning media product development are in a very valid category, with an average value of 0.816. This indicates that interactive learning media that integrates critical and creative thinking skills with the help of the Lectora Inspire application have a very valid category. This validity component shows the feasibility of the product in material substance, audio-visual communication display, learning design, software utilization, assessment of critical thinking skills, and assessment of creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Learning is strengthened by using an approach to learning. In the 2013 curriculum, it is recommended to use an approach to learning, one of which is the Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) approach. One approach similar to the current process standards is the CBR approach, which helps teachers provide more student involvement in learning activities. There are many physics textbooks that many publishers have circulated, so It is vital to investigate whether or not these books have provided a CBR approach to learning to improve reasoning skills and higher-order thinking as suggested in the 2013 curriculum. This research was done to analyze the CBR approach. CBR is in a physics textbook for class X, semester 1, at Public High Schools in the City of Padang. The research carried out included descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The research population consisted of all physics textbooks for class X high school published in Indonesia and used in the city of Padang. The research samples were three Physics textbooks for Class X High School Semester 1: ER, IP, and TS. The research results showed that no CBR approach was found in the three physics textbooks analyzed. Hence, we concluded that no textbooks are currently available that provide a CBR approach.

Abstract

Education is a necessity that cannot be separated from human life. The existence of this education can form a moral and thinking human being. Education in schools/madrasas is expected to be able to build and improve various 21st century skills in accordance with the demands of the industrial revolution 4.0. The 21st century skills, also known as 4C skills, include critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration that learners must master. The solution to improving learners' 21st century skills is the existence of teaching materials that can support learners' 21st century skills in the learning process. Teaching materials that can be used as a solution in facilitating students in accessing learning are teaching materials developed by utilising the advantages of ICT called digital teaching materials, including e-books, e-modules, LKS and other digital teaching materials.  The purpose of this study was to determine the effect size of digital physics teaching materials on improving students' 21st century skills, especially in physics learning. The type of research used is a meta-analysis that analyses 20 national and international articles in the last 4 years (2018-2022). The analysis technique used was to calculate the effect size for each article. The results showed that the meta-analysis study had an effect on digital physics teaching materials to improve 21st century skills based on high school grade level, physics learning materials, types of teaching materials used and 21st century skills achieved. The research findings show that digital physics teaching materials have an effect on improving 21st century skills, especially on critical thinking skills.
