Abstract

Kegiatan PKM ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru-guru SMP Lubuk Sikaping dalam mengembangkan media interaktif berbasis kontekstual. Metode yang digunakan terdiri dari beberapa tahap yaitu tahap observasi, persiapan, pelaksanaan, monitoring. Hasil analisis data dari pretest dan postest, disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan PKM ini telah dapat meningkatkan kemampuan guru-guru IPA SMP Lubuk Sikaping dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif, sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran. Berdasarkan angket yang diberikan pada akhir kegiatan pelatihan, diperoleh hasil bahwa peserta menyatakan kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat dan berkaitan dengan pembelajaran di sekolah

Abstract

This study aims to analyze preliminary data on lecture conditions as the needs in developing science teaching aids. This research is the initial stage of research and development using the development model proposed by Plomp, namely preliminary research. Data collected by using questionnaire given to physics education students semester July-December 2017. Data analysis technique used in the form of descriptive statistical analysis.The results of this study are: 1) the available teaching materials are quite varied, 2) the assignments given in lectures can help students in understanding the material, 3) control of ideas and project work in lectures is still lacking, so students have limitations to develop their creativity, and 4)the students have considerable potential in understanding the material, but the number of students who have ideas in solving problems and who are able to correct friends' answers, and those who actively ask are still low.It can be conclude that the development science teaching aids based on project-based learning need to be done to improve student creativity.

Abstract

The education process in schools should be able to increase mastery of science and technology and provide training and science process skills that can improve the quality of human resources. Education is the main key to modernization and progress for a nation. In reality, 4C learning on 21st century skills has not been fulfilled properly. This needs to be addressed starting by developing a learning material such as lesson plans. The objective of assisting is to improve the competency of teachers in writing lesson plans. The target of the assisting activity was the teachers in SMPN 2 Baso, Agam district. Methods in assisting include presentation and discussion, group work, independent task, and task presentation. Instruments to collect the data consist of knowledge test. Data analysis techniques were descriptive statistical analysis and paired sample t-test. The result of this assisting is the implementation of assisting on the writing of lesson plan is effective to improve the 21st century skills and independent learning program in the school of teachers.

Abstract

INCREASING THE COMPETENCE OF SCIENCE TEACHERS OF SMP/MTSN LUBUK SIKAPING THROUGH CONTEXTUAL-BASED LEARNING MATERIALS DEVELOPMENT TRAINING. This activity aims to improve the competence of science teachers SMP/MTsN Lubuk Sikaping through training development of contextual based teaching materials. To achieve the objectives and targets set, the method used consists of observation, orientation and discussion, preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. The instruments used are tests of understanding of the material and questionnaire responses of trainees. Data analysis techniques used are paired t test and percentage analysis Based on data analysis, obtained the average value of pretest is 46.2676 and at postest 63.0672. Furthermore, paired t test, obtained results of significance 0.000 <0.05. This indicates that there is an increase in the competence of IPA teachers of SMP/MTsN Lubuk Sikaping through training of contextual based teaching materials. Based on the questionnaire given at the end of the training activities, that the activity is very useful and related to the subjects which is taught in schools.

Abstract

Student’s understanding that is not in accordance with scientific concepts becomes an obstruction in the process of studying and effect on the result of studying itself. Therefore, an effort is needed to fix and find out the students’ misconception. Therefore, this study aims to identify the level of student’s concept understanding and misconceptions on the material of straight motion at SMAN 11 Padang, SMAN 13 Padang, and SMAN 16 Padang. This study is the descriptive research by using quantitative approach. The instrument used is the Four-Tier Multiple Choice Test with a Certainty of Response Index (CRI) scale. The study population was all students of class X at SMAN 11 Padang, SMAN 13 Padang, and SMAN 16 Padang in the academic year 2021/2022. The simple random sampling technique is used in this study as much as 20% of the total population, so the number of samples in this study was 135 students. The results indicate that the level of student’s concept understanding on the material of straight motion at SMAN 11 Padang, SMAN 13 Padang, and SMAN 16 Padang was in the low category with the level of misconceptions in the medium category. At SMAN 11 Padang the percentage of understanding concepts is 14.1% and misconceptions is 44.9%. At SMAN 13 Padang the percentage of understanding concepts is 13.2% and misconceptions is 47.7%. And at SMAN 16 Padang the percentage of understanding concepts is 12.6% and misconceptions is 55.7%. It can be stated that the level of student’s concept understanding is more dominant in the category of misconceptions in straight motion material.

Abstract

Responding to the 21st century, among others, is necessary to develop creative thinking skills. However, students' creative thinking skills are still low, this is due to the lack of modules that can help students in their knowledge and develop creative thinking skills, including in physics subjects. In general, this researcher is producing a contextual-based physics module that integrates creative thinking skills. In this research, the type used is R&D with ADDIE design. The instruments are in the form of a validity test questionnaire sheet by the lecturer and a practicality test questionnaire sheet by the lecturer. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using statistics with a correlated t-test”. Based on the analyzed data, it shows that the physics module developed has a value of 84.80 and is in the valid category. The use of the module on static fluid and heat temperature values obtains practicality values of 88 and 92, respectively, both of which are in the practical category. The use of the tested module its effectiveness on high school students scored 30.33 at the pretest stage and 60.73 at the posttest stage. This increase indicates that the module is in the effective category.

Abstract

The 21st century is a century with education system that refers to 2013 curriculum which requires teachers to apply learning that is directed at finding out information so that it can help students to have deeper mastery of concepts. The low value of the National Exam (NE) proves that many students have difficulty in working on questions. Therefore, research was carried out to identify problematic physics concepts on NE questions at Senior High School (SMAN) in Pesisir Selatan District. This research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. Population of data in this study was all SMAN that held the NE in Pesisir Selatan District which consisted of 21 schools. Sampling was carried out using Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. The sample of this study was 6 schools that held the NE in SMAN in Pesisir Selatan District. The data in this study were taken from 2018 and 2019 Physics NE data at SMAN in Pesisir Selatan District in education center data (2018) with data collection techniques through documentation studies. Based on this data, it can be obtained the results of identification of problematic physics concepts on NE questions in 2018 with percentage of errors in 6 main materials including Measurement and Kinematics 58.68%; Dynamics 69.33%; Work, Energy and Collision 64.79%; Heat 57.74%; Wave and Light 65.95%; and Magnetism and Core Physics 45.45%. Then, in 2019 it consisted of 4 main materials including Mechanics 58.16%; Wave and Optics 65.87%; Thermodynamics 68.23%; and Magnetism and Modern Physics 57.90%.

Abstract

The breakneck internet access speed evidences the progress of society in the 21st century. Internet access speed is a form of community progress 5.0 in obtaining quality information. 21st-century skills have been born along with the development of information and communication technology (ICT). The rapid growth of ICT raises concerns about the human workforce that can be replaced by robots. The first actual condition is that 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, creative thinking, collaboration, and communication, are still low. The second exact condition is that the teaching materials used have not been integrated with STEM, with a value of 48%. The purpose of this study was to determine the practicality of developing STEM integrated electronics physics teaching materials to improve students' 21st-century skills. This study uses the type of research R&D (Research & Development). While the model used is the Plomp model. Based on the research results that have been done, it can be concluded that the results of the practicality of teaching materials in the one-to-one, small group, and field test trials are 80, 84, and 83, respectively. This can be interpreted that the electronic teaching materials developed are practical and can be used when learning physics.

Abstract

Higher thinking skills must be possessed by students in facing 21st century education. Creative thinking skills are needed in various ways, especially in learning to improve student learning outcomes in class. So that text books are needed as a support for the learning process. For this reason, it is necessary to pay attention to whether the textbooks used are in accordance with the demands of the current 2013 curriculum. One of the curricula in the 2013 curriculum is the use of texts that can facilitate students' creative thinking skills. So it is necessary to analyze physics learning textbooks for class XI semester 2 on static fluid, temperature and heat materials as well as optical devices to find out whether the presentation of physics textbooks for class XI facilitates creative thinking skills. The population in this study were all textbooks for physics class XI published in Indonesia and used in West Sumatra. The samples used in this study were MK-ER textbooks and MR-TS textbooks. The results of the analysis show that the MR-TS physics textbook is a physics textbook with the highest level of availability of creative thinking indicators with a percentage of 38.69% in the less available category. While the MK-ER physical textbook has the lowest level of availability of creative thinking indicators with 37.68% results being in the less available category. This shows that the MR-TS physics textbook and MK-ER physics textbook have not been perfect in facilitating students creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia continue to be carried out by the Government. One of the ongoing agenda is curriculum development. The 2013 curriculum requires students to have thinking skills, one of which is Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). To achieve this, teachers must practice using strategies to train students to think higher order. It is time to implement HOTS questions in learning. HOTS-based questions can make students skilled in the ability to solve problems, skilled in decision making. The results of the observations show that the questions used in Senior High School throughout Agam Regency are still in the low category and do not meet the good proportion of questions. Therefore, research on the analysis of the HOTS indicator was carried out on physics questions at Senior High School Agam in Agam. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The population of this research is about Senior High School’s Physics Exam in Agam Regency for the 2019/2020 academic year. The research data was taken using an analytical instrument of question presentation and data collection techniques through documentation. Based on the research that has been done, it is found that the percentage of HOTS indicators for each question is 39.15% for class X semester 1, 38.5% for class X semester 2, 36.3% for class XI semester 1, 18.25% for class XI semester 2 and 24.5% for class XII semester 1 and for HOTS indicators that are often found in Physics Exam questions are the Problem Solving and Critical Thinking indicators, followed by decision making indicators while the least encountered is the Creative Thinking indicator.
