Abstract

Education is a fundamental process that plays an important role in shaping quality individuals. In today's digital era, the integration of technology in education is important to create an interactive and dynamic learning environment. However, there are still many teachers who use conventional methods that make student engagement low. Student engagement is a key factor in learning success, involving cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects. Social media, which has become an integral part of daily life, offers great potential to increase student engagement in learning. This research aims to explore the use of social media as a learning medium in increasing student engagement. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, this study examines literature related to the use of social media such as Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp in various educational contexts. The results of the study show that social media can increase student interaction, collaboration, and learning motivation. Teachers' wise and directed use of social media, as well as support from educational institutions, can enrich students' learning experiences and encourage their active engagement. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of more effective learning media innovations in the digital era, as well as providing insights for educators and policymakers in designing learning strategies that are more efficient and in accordance with technological developments.

Abstract

The game learning media based on GDevelop is a new solution that complies with the constructivist principles of learning effectiveness improvement. The proposed investigation is aimed at a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which can be used to explore the empirical conditions, patterns of use, and viability of GDevelop as a platform to create educational media. The SLR methodology implied searching the Google Scholar and Publish or Perish databases within the period of 2020-2025. The selection of thirteen studies that met the inclusion criteria was followed by thematic analysis to synthesize the findings of the studies. The review shows that GDevelop has a consistent positive effect on the mathematical reasoning, conceptual understanding, and motivational interest of students of various levels of education. Additionally, the platform is considered practical and viable by both the media experts and the end-users. However, there are some challenges in the practice of implementation especially in the capabilities of educators to use and incorporate the tool in the curriculum. This study, therefore, suggests specific teacher training, content development based on the curriculum, and long-term research to determine the effectiveness of GDevelop in a wider range of learning conditions. Pemanfaatan media pembelajaran game yang dikembangkan melalui GDevelop merupakan metodologi progresif yang sesuai dengan paradigma konstruktivis, yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemanjuran pendidikan. Investigasi ini berusaha untuk melakukan tinjauan literatur sistematis (SLR) untuk memeriksa secara kritis kondisi empiris, aplikasi, dan kelangsungan hidup GDevelop sebagai media untuk penciptaan sumber daya pendidikan. Metodologi SLR melibatkan pencarian komprehensif untuk artikel ilmiah dalam database Google Scholar dan Publish or Perish, dengan fokus pada publikasi dari periode 2020 hingga 2025. Dari 13 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi yang telah ditentukan, analisis tematik dilakukan untuk mengintegrasikan dan mensintesis hasil. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa GDevelop secara konsisten menunjukkan kemanjuran dalam meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematika siswa, pemahaman konseptual, dan motivasi untuk belajar di berbagai tingkatan pendidikan. Selain itu, platform ini dianggap layak dan praktis oleh para ahli di media dan penggunanya. Namun demikian, penerapannya dalam praktik menghadapi hambatan, terutama sehubungan dengan kompetensi pendidik dalam memanfaatkan dan menanamkannya dalam kurikulum yang ada. Akibatnya, penelitian ini menganjurkan penyediaan pengembangan profesional untuk pendidik, pembuatan konten yang selaras dengan standar kurikuler, dan perlunya penelitian tambahan untuk menyelidiki kemanjuran GDevelop di berbagai pengaturan pendidikan yang lebih luas.

Abstract

The era of Society 5.0 requires education systems to integrate digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI), positioning teachers as key actors in adaptive and innovative learning. This study aims to describe the performance and competencies of senior high school and vocational school teachers in South Kalimantan Province. A descriptive quantitative design was employed involving 279 teachers and 2,280 students from 30 purposively selected schools representing diverse geographical areas. The main variables measured include teachers’ competence in (1) planning learning (formulating objectives, developing teaching materials, selecting methods and media), (2) implementing learning, (3) evaluating learning outcomes, and (4) utilizing ICT-based learning media. Data were collected using structured questionnaires, observations, and documentation, and analyzed through descriptive statistics (percentage, frequency distribution, mean, median, and mode). The findings show that teacher competence is generally in the “adequate” category. Specifically, 39.4% of teachers are categorized as adequate in formulating learning objectives, 38.4% in selecting learning methods and strategies, and 41.2% in aligning methods with students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development. These results indicate that although teachers have met basic competency standards, their ability to integrate digital technology into pedagogy remains suboptimal. Therefore, systematic and continuous efforts such as applied ICT-based training, mentoring, and strategic collaboration with universities and industry are essential to strengthen teachers’ pedagogical and technological competencies in supporting sustainable educational transformation.

Abstract

Cultural communication plays an important role in maintaining and preserving the values of traditional marine education. In this context, cultural communication serves as a bridge to maintain traditional values while adapting them to the dynamics of the times in the era of modern life, especially the Mandar sailors on Kerayaan Island who have long been known for their maritime traditions inherent in their daily lives. This study aims to analyze the impact of modernization on the traditional practices and maritime cultural identity of the Mandar community. In addition, this study also presents the fact that not only the Bugis tribe is known as reliable sailors in the region, but the Mandar tribe also has a long history as accomplished sailors. The method used in the research uses a qualitative approach with the type of ethnographic research. The data was collected through direct observation in the field and in-depth interviews with local communities. Social change analysis is used as a theoretical framework to understand the maritime cultural transformation that occurs. This research shows that the entry of modern technology has slowly but surely changed the way of life of the Mandar seafaring community. Various cultural symbols that exist today are more widely used for economic purposes only, no longer as a cultural identity that is upheld. This study provides a real picture of how this change at least gives hope, that there will be no total death of traditional sized, there will always be adjustment, imaging and re-creation of new traditional authorities. The ability to survive this tradition is at least quite justified because the emergence of tradition always presupposes the presence of a 'regime of representatives' who has the authority to interpret the symbols and sacred texts of tradition for the purpose of legitimacy of power through cultural communication.
