Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of students of SMA Negeri 14 Pekanbaru based on gender differences in the context of biology learning. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research sample included all grade XI students, consisting of 69 male students and 81 female students. The results of the study indicate that teachers have used critical thinking-based questions in learning evaluations, although they have not been fully guided by clear indicators. Based on interviews, students from science classes find it easier to solve questions than students from business classes, who find the questions more difficult. The conclusion of this study is that although critical thinking skills have begun to be applied, the development of structured indicators and adjustments to the level of difficulty of questions need to be done to support students' critical thinking skills optimally.

Abstract

This paper is developmental research, which aims to produce environmental-based teaching materials on valid clean and healthy living environment learning material. The developmental research uses the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The data collection instrument used was a validated validation sheet. The data were obtained by validating the validation from material, media, and learning experts on the modules developed by conducting limited validity trials. Data analysis was analyzed through the quantitative description. The validation results of the material expert indicate that the developed teaching materials were very valid with an average percentage of 96%. The media expert validation results show that the developed teaching materials were very valid with an average percentage of 100%. The validation results of learning experts imply that the developed teaching materials were very valid with an average percentage of 100%. Based on the experts’ validation results, an environment of clean and healthy living material-based module product was obtained with a very valid category used in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the needs of teachers and students regarding the development of interactive multimedia games based on Construct 2 for the digestive system. This study applied a mixed methods approach with a sequential exploratory design. Qualitative data were obtained through structured interviews with 11th-grade biology teachers at SMAN 5 Pekanbaru, while quantitative data were collected through a needs analysis questionnaire administered to 30 students. The results showed that teachers have implemented the Independent Curriculum through the Project-Based Learning model, but still face limitations in utilizing interactive, game-based digital learning media. Meanwhile, students showed a high level of need for interactive multimedia games that are engaging, equipped with feedback features, and able to facilitate visualization of digestive system concepts in a more concrete and enjoyable way. These findings indicate that the development of interactive multimedia games based on Construct 2 software for the digestive system is urgently needed to increase learning engagement, conceptual understanding, and support meaningful learning in accordance with the demands of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

Science learning on the respiratory system material for grade VIII junior high school is still dominated by lecture methods and the use of conventional media, so that students' activeness and visual understanding have not developed optimally. This study aims to analyze the needs of teachers and students for the development of interactive flipbook E-Module teaching materials based on Game Based Learning (GBL) on the respiratory system material for grade VIII junior high school. The study used a quantitative descriptive approach with subjects of one science teacher and 29 grade VIII students of UPT SMP Negeri 1 Siak Hulu. Data were collected through teacher interviews and student needs analysis questionnaires covering four indicators, namely learning approaches/methods, learning media, teaching materials, and assessments. Data were analyzed using percentage techniques. The results of the analysis showed that all indicators were in the very needed category, with the percentage of learning approaches/methods of 82.76%, learning media 79.83%, teaching materials 81.38%, and assessment 85.17%. The interview results also showed that students were more active when learning involved game elements. Thus, interactive digital learning media is needed that suits the needs of teachers and students as a basis for developing more interesting and effective science learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Profil Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran IPA Berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka pada Peserta Didik Kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu Kabupaten Kampar Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil pelaksanaan pembelajaran IPA berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka pada peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu, Kabupaten Kampar Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling yang terdiri dari 81 sampel penelitian. Data diperoleh dengan metode observasi, wawancara, angket dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pelaksanaan pembelajaran IPA berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka pada Kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu mendapatkan rata-rata persentase sebesar 83,53% termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik, dengan rincian persentase masing-masing indikator yaitu partisipasi peserta didik sebesar 84,56% dengan kategori sangat baik, pembelajaran efektif sebesar 87.04% dengan kategori sangat baik, pencapaian kompetensi peserta didik sebesar 86,11% dengan kategori sangat baik, asesmen sebesar 86,42% dengan kategori sangat baik, projek penguatan profil pelajar Pancasila (P5) sebesar 77,78% dengan kategori baik, kebiasaan dan keterampilan peserta didik sebesar 75,92% dengan kategori baik, faktor psikis dan fisik peserta didik sebesar 85,18% dengan kategori sangat baik, serta lingkungan sosial, keluarga dan masyarakat sebesar 85,50% dengan kategori sangat baik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran IPA berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka pada Kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu tahun ajaran 2025/2026 sangat baik.

Abstract

Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan pemahaman komprehensif mengenai pancaindra dan sistem saraf sebagai wahana penguatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Artikel ini membahas hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa Edukasi bertema Edukasi Neuro-Logic Junior: Pancaindra & Sistem Saraf sebagai Wahana Critical Thinking, pada 14 November 2025. Metode kegiatan meliputi penjelasan materi, diskusi, dan partisipasi aktif dari siswa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme peserta yang tinggi, dengan peningkatan pemahaman tentang Edukasi Neuro-Logic Junior: Pancaindra & Sistem Saraf sebagai Wahana Critical Thinking. Dampak positif dari kegiatan ini terlihat pada kesadaran siswa terhadap pancaindra dan sistem saraf sebagai wahana penguatan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Kegiatan ini diharapkan berkelanjutan dengan partisipasi aktif dari sekolah dan orang tua untuk menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang sehat dan mendukung. Selain itu, hasil kegiatan dipublikasikan sebagai referensi akademik untuk program serupa di masa mendatang.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the critical thinking abilities of biology education students on environmental change material, methodology using qualitative differentiation. The population in this research was Biology students in semesters III, V, totaling 57 people. Using a Saturated Sample considering that all of these students have taken Environmental Science courses. This research uses a type of primary data, namely tests, where the thinking test questions focus on environmental change material. Then carry out a Construct and Content Test by colleagues, there are 5 indicators where all 38 questions consist of 28 objective questions and 10 essay questions. After carrying out empirical tests and continuing with Reliability Tests using a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.768. After empirical testing, there are 24 questions that can be used in data collection, including 17 objectives and 7 essays. Research data obtained from indicator one Providing a Simple Explanation, percentage 60.29 in the medium category, indicator two Building Basic Skills, percentage 56.2 in the low category, indicator three Drawing conclusions, percentage 61.12 in the medium category, Indicator four Providing further explanation, percentage 53.21 low category, indicator five Managing Strategy and Tactical 58.55 medium category. It can be concluded that the Critical Thinking Ability of Biology Education Students in Environmental Change Material is in the medium category.

Abstract

Extraneous cognitive load (ECL) measurements are important to evaluate the quality of digital learning design, but self-report instruments need to be tested for psychometric quality. This study aims to evaluate students' ECL instruments using the Rasch model. Data was collected through a survey of 38 students using an ECL questionnaire containing 17 items with a Likert scale of 1–5, then analyzed with the Rasch Rating Scale Model to assess reliability-separation, fit items and persons, as well as targeting of persons through the Wright map, The results showed that mapping of person-items on a logit scale could be done, but the targeting was less optimal because the average person was far below the average of items. indicates low ECL dominance and limited item coverage at low range. Category diagnostics show a very uneven distribution of responses (categories 4–5 are hardly used), and the probability curve of categories that do not form a clear peak in the upper categories, so the 5 category scale function is not yet effective. It was concluded that the instrument could be used as an initial measurement of ECL, but it needed to be improved on some items and the addition of items to improve precision and interpretability.Keywords: AI, Biology, ECL, Learning Media, Technology.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of biological competence and career readiness of students in the Biology Education Study Program at Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) in the Academic Year 2024/2025. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method with data collected through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The sample consisted of students from the Biology Education Study Program at UIR. A closed-ended questionnaire was designed to measure indicators of biological competence, including conceptual understanding, laboratory skills, critical thinking ability, and the application of biology in real-life contexts. Meanwhile, career readiness was evaluated based on students’ perceptions of their self-potential, career goals, and readiness to enter professional fields such as teaching, research, and biology-based entrepreneurship (bioedupreneur). In-depth interviews were conducted to follow up on the questionnaire results, while academic documentation was used to obtain supporting data related to students’ academic status and learning outcomes. Data were analyzed using univariate statistical analysis. The results show that students possess good biological competence, particularly in conceptual understanding and basic laboratory skills. In addition, students’ career readiness is categorized as high, as indicated by their interest and preparedness to pursue careers as teachers, research assistants, or bioedupreneurs. In conclusion, the implemented curriculum has been able to equip students with knowledge and skills relevant to the demands of the professional world and support their career readiness.   Keywords: Bioedupreneur, Biological Competence, Career Readiness

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan tahap awal dalam sebuah rangkaian penelitian pengembangan sebelum produk yang dikembangkan masuk pada tahap uji coba. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menciptakan dasar yang kuat bagi pengembangan buku panduan pembuatan alat peraga Mini Solar Panel dan Bio-Baterai berbasis modifikasi sintesis cangkang telur dengan amonia. Metode penelitian R&D model Plomp yang dibatasi pada rancangan produk dan validasi oleh tiga ahli (materi, media, dan pembelajaran) menggunakan instrumen skala Likert. Hasil validasi rata-rata 92,78% (sangat valid). Prototipe panduan dinyatakan layak secara konseptual dan dapat dijadikan dasar tervalidasi untuk tahap uji coba lapangan yang lebih kompleks dalam pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis pemanfaatan limbah serta energi terbarukan.
