Abstract

Pesaguan Dayak people in Serengkah Kanan village, Ketapang Regency utilize wild plants as an alternative food.. The purpose of this study was to identify the types of wild plants used as food alternatives by the Dayak Pesaguan community in Serengkah Kanan Village, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. Research using qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected by interviewing informants, making observations, and documentation. Plants used as food alternatives are identified to know their scientific names. Wild plants used as an alternative food by the Dayak Pesaguan community in Serengkah Kanan Village, Ketapang Regency are 37 species consisting of 23 families, namely Anacardiaceae, Arecaceae, Lamiaceae, Fabaceae, Malvaceae, Moraceae, Sapindaceae, Asteraceae, Achariaceae, Barseraceae, Phyllanthaceae, Apocynaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Olacaceae, Aracecae, Musaceae, Polypodiaceae, Talinaceae, Piperaceae, Araliaceae, Zingiberaceae, dilleniaceae, and menispermaceae. Leaves of the plant Pycnarrhena cauliflower D. and Premna corymbosa R. are used by the Dayak Pesaguan Tribe as an ingredient in food because they give a taste like micin and a distinctive aroma. The plant parts used are leaves, tubers, seeds, and fruits. The way of processing is sliced/cut into small pieces, inserted directly into food, mashed, boiled, sauteed, soaked in water before consumption, and some can be consumed directly.

Abstract

Leaflets are learning media in the form of printed media that provide a summary of learning material to be memorized by students. Leaflet media allows students to learn at their own pace. This study aims to produce products and analyze the feasibility of leaflet media for bacterial diversity in fibric peatlands on the sub-matter of Indonesian biodiversity. The research method used quantitative descriptive method with Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI) analysis. Data collection was carried out through leaflet media validation by 3 high school biology teachers and 2 biology education lecturers who assessed the suitability of the research instrument items. The results showed that the leaflet of bacterial diversity in fibric peat soil on the submaterial of Indonesian biodiversity obtained a Content Validity Ratio (CVR) value of 1, indicating high validity, and a Content Validity Index (CVI) value of 1, indicating excellent quality. This means that this leaflet is valid and very feasible to use as learning media in high school in the material of Indonesian biodiversity.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop learning media in the form of e-magazine based on FlipHTML5 website media on plant structure and function material for class VIII junior high school. This research is an RD (Research and Development) development research using the ADDIE development research model which consists of five stages of development, but in this study a small trial group test was carried out so that the development stages carried out were simplified into four main stages which included stages: Analysis, Design, Development, and Implementation. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, observations and questionnaires. The results of the study in terms of the results of media validation by 5 validators obtained validity test results with an overall average media feasibility of 0.933 in the valid category. From the feasibility assessment based on validity, it can be concluded that e-magazine as a learning media is feasible to use in class VIII junior high school material on plant structure and function.

Abstract

Diarrhea and dysentery are major health problems in Indonesia, with Shigella sonnei being one of the primary causative agents. Excessive use of antibiotics has led to bacterial resistance, necessitating safe and effective alternative treatments. This study evaluates the antibacterial potential of extracts from brotowali (Tinospora crispa), wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi), and bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) against Shigella sonnei. Plant materials were sourced from Kakap Village, West Kalimantan, and extracted using maceration with 96% ethanol. Phytochemical tests were conducted to identify active compounds in the extracts, while antibacterial activity was assessed using the disk diffusion method at extract concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%. All three plant extracts contained active compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, and tannins. Antibacterial tests showed that all extracts exhibited antibacterial activity against S. sonnei, with bay leaf extract at 80% concentration demonstrating the largest inhibition zone of 20.3 mm. Statistical analysis indicated that increasing extract concentration enhanced antibacterial effectiveness. This study suggests that extracts of brotowali, wuluh  starfruit, and bay leaf have the potential to be effective natural antibacterial agents against S. sonnei.  Further research should focus on understanding the mechanisms of action and exploring the potential clinical applications of these plant extracts. Additionally, integrating these findings into science education can enhance students' scientific literacy and provide practical examples of using natural resources in addressing health issues.
