Abstract

This article examines the issue of dialectical Islam with local culture in Indonesia, which eventually forms a distinctive and unique variant of Islam, as well as the acculturation of Aswaja values and Javanese Islam. Indonesian Islamic State Universities (UIN) are part of the component that forms a nationalist and religious generation. Undeniably, it is free from the Islamic variant of the times. The variant of Islam is not Islam which is separated from its purity, but Islam, which is acculturated with local culture. The study's mixed-method results showed that 72.4% of Aswaja's values influenced the formation of moderate thinking. Meanwhile, 42% of Javanese Islam also contributes to Moderate Islamic thought. As a variant of cultural Islam in Indonesia, Javanese Islam tends to be syncretic with its distinctive traditions. It can be seen in the dialectic of religion and culture, such as the “Grebek Pancasila”, the early Genduri of a sermon, and Wayang performances. Its substance is to transform the prophetic spirit of the teachings of monotheism while preserving local culture. Javanese Aswaja and Islamic values struggle with the realities of modernity and globalization. In this context, it can be seen how the response of groups of Islamic organizations, particularly the moderate Islam Rahmatan Lil Alamin.

Abstract

The charges with covered mission in terms of local wisdom such as mysticism, sacralization, Javanese and ancestor gods are exaggerated perspective. Through Anthropological studies of sacred, mythology and local wisdom is elaborated on the meaning and relevance to the public ritual actions in Pasuruan Regency with the attempt to build harmony and interaction between local culture and Islam. This study focused on the dynamical of relationship between religion and social religious culture interactions among groups in society through religious symbols system. Every religious tradition includes sacred symbols with which the person conducting a series of measures to shed beliefs in the form of ritual, reverence and servitude. Hindu communities in the mountains Pasuruan region have been driven to assimilate with Muslim population. But the religion which is embraced by the majority of the population are nominal Muslims, but confounds the Tengger and Javanese-style ritual, because the vast majority of Muslims there refused to form a more strict Islamic piety is identified with a culture that does not fit to the culture of Java, in contrast to Muslims Pasuruan in the lowlands because much dominated by the descendants of Madura, the Islamization can continue to do without having to harm the local culture, which in turn would foster against-Islam movement.

Abstract

This qualitative case study investigates the integration of LMS-based assessments in Islamic higher education, focusing on how prayerful pedagogical values come into alignment with the practices of digital evaluation. Conducted at a private Islamic university in the Republic of Indonesia, between February and June 2025, 16 students and two lecturer-participants in an Educational Evaluation course were involved in the research. Data collection was based on semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, classroom observation, and an analysis of LMS documents. Data were analyzed with NVivo 14, according to the thematic concept of Braun and Clarke. The findings identified three key themes: pedagogical transparency, ethical awareness, and faith–technology alignment. Of note, in their discussions, participants felt that LMS assessment improved grading clarity, created opportunities for self-regulated learning, and helped enforce accountability, consistent with Islamic ethical principles such as amanah and adl. However, the major concerns raised with respect to digital examination servers were confidence in technology and equity of access. In conclusion, the study argues that when based on ethical and faith-based principles LMS assessment can promote transparency, academic honesty, and moral engagement in Islamic higher learning. Some implications are that institutional frameworks for integrating digital literacy, ethical orientation, and pedagogical innovation into the assessment practices are necessary.

Abstract

This paper explores the strategic development and implementation of a quality assurance (QA) framework in the educational sector, grounded in the ISO 21001:2018 standard. As a specialized management system for educational organizations, ISO 21001:2018 provides a structured approach to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of educational processes. The standard emphasizes alignment between institutional operations and the expectations of learners, educators, and other relevant stakeholders. Through a qualitative library research methodology, this study reviews and synthesizes academic literature, policy documents, and institutional case studies that discuss the application of ISO 21001:2018 within various educational settings. The core principles of the standard stakeholder-centered management, strong leadership, engagement of people, process-oriented strategies, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision-making are examined and incorporated into the design of a strategic QA framework suitable for educational institutions of different types and scales. The findings reveal that implementing a QA system based on ISO 21001:2018 fosters institutional accountability, promotes systematic performance monitoring, and ensures continuous feedback loops for educational improvement. The proposed framework encourages educational organizations to integrate quality planning into strategic decision-making and to align their mission, vision, and educational goals with globally recognized quality benchmarks. Adopting ISO 21001:2018 as the foundation for quality assurance not only strengthens institutional governance but also significantly contributes to better learning outcomes, stakeholder satisfaction, and long-term sustainability. This study recommends that educational institutions consider ISO 21001:2018 not merely as a compliance tool but as a strategic asset for quality transformation.
