Abstract

Soft drink consumption rate among adolescents was the highest and it is accompanied by an increase in the incidence of obesity.  This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the frequency and volume of weekly soft drink consumption and body mass index among adolescents.  This cross-sectional study involved 78 senior high school students in Palembang.  The frequency of soft and energy drink consumption is assessed every week.  The body mass index (BMI) was measured by standardized anthropometry.  Data was then analyzed computerized with a level of significance of P <0.05.  Spearman test results show that there was a significant positive correlation between the frequency and volume of weekly consumption of soft drinks and BMI among adolescents (p < 0.001, r = 0.517; p < 0.001, r = 0.568, respectively). Increased consumption of soft drinks among adolescents will be associated with increased body mass index which leads to overweight and obesity.

Abstract

Background: During pregnancy, there is an increase in maternal metabolism, which affects the growth of the fetus and fetal organs. Pregnant women who cannot meet nutritional needs can risk experiencing problems with poor nutritional status. This adversely affects the baby and the mother. One of the anthropometric measurements commonly used to assess pregnant women's nutritional status is measuring the Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC). Pregnant women with MUAC interpretation less than 23.5 cm are said to be at risk of chronic energy deficiency (CED). Purposes: This study aimed to determine the relationship between the MUAC of pregnant women and the baby's body weight. Methods: The research methodology used analytical observational with a cross-sectional approach to the medical records of 104 mothers at the Taman Baca Health Center, Pembina Health Center, and Plaju Palembang Health Center. Data were collected by purposive sampling. Result: The results of this study showed that MUAC for pregnant women was more than equal to 23.5 cm as many as 86 (82,7%) respondents, while pregnant women of MUAC were less than 23.5 cm as many as 18 (17,3%) respondents. Analysis with Fisher's Exact Test with p-value=1,000. Conclusion: there was no meaningful relationship between the MUAC of pregnant women and the body weight of babies.

Abstract

Life expectancy is one of the most popular summary measures for a population's general health. Growing Life Expectancy predicts a rise in senior citizens in the coming years. An increase in health issues among the elderly may result from an aging population. Anthropometric measures of nutritional status can reveal nutritional status, which may contribute to the development of cardiovascular risk; however, research on this topic in the elderly is still lacking. This study uses a cross-sectional design and a sample size of 60 elderly people who live in Muhammadiyah University Palembang's development village. Blood pressure and anthropometric measures were taken by researchers. Throughout the course of five minutes, three separate readings of the blood pressure, waist circumference, mid-upper arm circumference, and body mass index (BMI) were obtained. The means of these measurements were then analyzed. Diastole Blood Pressure/DBP was substantially correlated with BMI, WC, and MUAC (P = 0.001; r = 0.407; P = 0.003; r = 0.381 & P = 0.017; r = 0.307, respectively). In conclusion, systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the elderly are positively associated with anthropometric measures of body fatness, particularly BMI.

Abstract

Cases of perineal wounds in postpartum mothers are still frequently encountered in Indonesia. One of the factors that can influence the healing of perineal wounds is the role of the family in the care of perineal wounds. This study aims to determine the role of the family in perineal wound care for postpartum mothers. The type of this research is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 5 informants who are family members (husbands) of postpartum mothers with perineal wounds in the working area of Puskesmas Rama Indra, Lampung. The data were triangulated with a midwife from Puskesmas Rama Indra, Lampung. The results of this study found that the types of family support for postpartum mothers with perineal wounds included instrumental, emotional, informational, and esteem support. Work schedules and local customs become obstacles in assisting the postpartum mother's care. It was found that there is a phenomenon of insufficient family involvement in the early mobilization of postpartum mothers and local customs that hinder perineal wound care. Conclusion, the role of the family still needs to be improved in terms of assisting early mobilization of postpartum mothers with perineal wounds.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are health problems that are common and can be experienced by anyone, not limited to a specific age. Several studies have shown that there is a relationship between ergonomic knowledge and MSD complaints, one of which is the Range of Motion (ROM) of the ankle plantar flexion. This service activity was carried out for 25 students at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Palembang in October 2024 offline. The form of service activities is in the form of counseling and health checks, in the form of nutritional status checks, and ROM Plantar Flexion ankle. The results showed that as many as 18 (72%) respondents had normal plantar flexion ROM results, and as many as 7 (28%) respondents had abnormal plantar flexion ROM results. As well as the results of increasing knowledge, seen from the increase in mean values between pretests and posttests. By increasing public knowledge through effective, easy-to- understand, and relevant education, we can increase people's awareness of health, so that they can live a more comfortable and quality life.
