Abstract

The existence of Maluku as a source of spices, including cloves, nutmeg, and mace, is like a magnet that attracts various nations to come to seek and control them. As part of the Lease archipelago, Nusalaut plays an important role in the policy of the “Hongietochten” expedition or Hongi voyage. The research aims to find out the traces of the role of the Nusalaut people in the Hongi voyage? by using the historical method through four stages: Heuristics, Verification, Interpretation and Historiography. Based on this research method, it was found that the people of Nusalaut were charged with great responsibility in the process of making the Beverwijk Fort and the Old Church of Ebenhaezer in Sila; the people of Nusalaut also carried out a departure from the “Negeri Lama” in the mountainous area to descend and inhabit the coastal region, In addition, it is noted that the Christianization process in Nusalaut is growing rapidly, there is also the development of clove cultivation technology, as well as the introduction of new technology in the manufacture of buildings from sea stones that are burned into lime.

Abstract

The issues addressed in this study are the process of implementing the Harta Negeri tradition in traditional marriages in Waraka Village and the meanings and values embodied in the Harta Negeri tradition for the community of Waraka Village. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, gathering written or spoken words from people and observable behaviours to obtain a clear understanding and information about the implementation of the Harta Negeri tradition in traditional marriages in Waraka Village. The results of the study and the discussion of Harta Negeri in conventional marriages in Waraka Village, Teluk Elpaputih District, Central Maluku Regency, indicate that Harta Negeri is a tradition related to traditional marriages in Waraka Village. It is an obligation that must be fulfilled by a man from outside Waraka who marries a woman from Waraka. This tradition is one of the customary requirements in the marriage tradition of Waraka Village. However, this tradition does not apply when the marriage is between two people from within Waraka Village.

Abstract

The history of the arrival of Chinese ethnic groups in Indonesia is generally uncertain, and this is also true for their arrival on Geser Island. Even if there are sources that document the arrival of the Chinese, they are mostly based on local folklore and some evidence left by Chinese descendants who still live there today, some of whom have intermarried with the indigenous people of Geser. The issues examined in this study are as follows: 1) What was the process of the Chinese community's arrival on Geser Island? 2) How have the dynamics between the Chinese community and the local population on Geser Island evolved? To address these questions, the research method used is historical research, which consists of four stages: Heuristics, Verification, Interpretation, and Historiography, while also employing relevant theories and concepts from social sciences. The objectives of this study are to explain the process of the Chinese community's arrival on Geser Island and their interactions with the local community. It can be observed from the involvement of the Chinese community in the practice of local customs and culture that they have integrated into their lives. To this day, the Chinese community plays a significant role in various sectors of life on Geser Island, both in the economic and political realms. It is evident from the term "Cina Geser" used to refer to some Chinese-descended politicians, including members of the East Seram Regency Regional House of Representatives and even the current Acting Secretary of the Maluku Provincial Government, who is of Chinese descent.

Abstract

Culture and its existence can be observed in Indigenous communities across Indonesia in general, and more specifically in traditional villages in Maluku, where customary laws and practices are still strongly upheld and practised in community life, including in marriage ceremonies. One particularly interesting and still-practiced traditional marriage ceremony in Haruru Village is the sou lavite (sarong and clothing). The issues addressed in this paper are: How is the sou late tradition carried out? What is the meaning behind the sou lavite tradition? And what values are embedded in the sou lavite tradition? The research method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques including literature review, observation, and interviews. Data analysis begins with data collection, followed by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the sou late tradition is divided into three important stages: the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the final stage. The preparation stage is further divided into two key processes: nok and editing. The implementation stage involves several steps: sopa adat, sarong parking, so sauna, and lesa sou lavite. The final stage of the sou late tradition involves prayers and the handing over of a black garment to the groom's sister.

Abstract

The Baileo located in Negeri Ameth is called Baihata Kapalatu, and the village's original name (teon) is Samasuru Amalatu. Etymologically, Samasuru Amalatu means a village led by a latu (king) established due to a command. Research shows that there are three entrances to this Baileo, each related to the roles of three villages: Ameth, Nalahia, and Akoon. In the past, these three villages were part of Ina Huhu, with Ameth serving as Ina Huhu's head and Titawaai as Ina Haha's head. According to some traditional elders, the southern entrance is for the village of Akoon, the western entrance is for Ameth, and the northern entrance is for Nalahia. Before the construction of the Baileo in Negeri Ameth, all meetings concerning decision-making for issues related to Ameth were held in the old village in the mountains, where the community had yet to establish permanent residences. The people of Ameth believed they needed to move down to the coast and build a settlement. Using a tool called a lobe, which was thrown downwards, they decided where the lobe landed. A sacred stone was placed at this spot, and next to it, the Baileo of Negeri Ameth, named Baihata Kapalatu, was built. It is known that Baihata Kapalatu was originally the Baileo of Ina Huhu, belonging to Ameth as the king and Akoon and Nalahia as chiefs. Thus, all matters concerning these three villages were once handled within this Baileo. However, over time, the Baileo ceased to serve the towns of Akoon and Nalahia as they each built their own Baileo. Consequently, matters related to these two villages are no longer conducted in Baihata Kapalatu but are now handled within their respective Baileo. The Baileo in Negeri Ameth plays a vital role in conducting governmental ceremonies and traditional rituals within the village. The people of Ameth also believe that the Baileo is a sacred place that must be preserved and respected, as it is an integral part of the culture of the Maluku people, particularly the indigenous community of Negeri Ameth.

Abstract

This study examines the role of history teachers in integrating Masohi (Gotong Royong) cultural values into history lessons at SMAN 3 Ambon City to enhance student character development. The research focuses on five key character indicators: cooperation, social care, responsibility, solidarity, and leadership. A total of 85 students from three classes participated in the study. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, questionnaires, and classroom observations. The results showed significant improvements in student character, with cooperation and responsibility increasing by 30%, solidarity by 29%, social care by 22%, and leadership by 16%. Additionally, the standard deviation decreased, indicating improved consistency in understanding and applying these values among students. This research demonstrates that integrating Masohi values into history education effectively strengthens student character and can serve as a broader model for cultural value-based education in schools across Indonesia.

Abstract

This research uses the Library Research method because the data is obtained through various sources in the form of books, excyclopedias, journals, documents, etc. In general, the data contained in research results are obtained from articles published online in various national journals, and research reports from the Maluku TP2GD Team, as well as articles published in online media that are relevant to the research. The steps taken include collecting library data, reading, taking notes, and comparing literature and then processing it and producing conclusions. Meanwhile, the data analysis used is content analysis. The data collected is descriptive textual data, so processing the data uses analysis according to its content, which is called content analysis. The research results explain that A.M.'s struggle. Sangadji was hit by a spirit of nationalism due to policies implemented by the Dutch East Indies government which tended to be unfair to the native people. Apart from that, the meaning of leadership for an A.M. Sangadji is more about the role and function of a leader. This means that the leader understands only his structural position, but more about his role in fighting for the interests of the wider community without looking at a particular region or region. So the biography of A.M. Sangadji, when applied as a learning resource in history learning, can strengthen students' spirit of nationalism and leadership.

Abstract

The integration of multimedia-based learning media in education is increasingly important to improve the effectiveness of learning. Research shows that multimedia can improve students' interest and learning outcomes in history subjects. However, challenges in adopting multimedia include lack of teacher training. Training and professional development are needed to ensure the effective use of multimedia in the education curriculum. Despite significant benefits, research that focuses on the implementation of multimedia in history teaching is still limited. This activity aims to improve teacher skills in developing multimedia learning media that meet the requirements for history learning in secondary schools in Indonesia. The media learning mentoring activity at SMA Negeri 4 Ambon City involved teachers with instructors from FKIP Unpatti. The training methods included lectures, demonstrations, and exercises for the development of effective learning media. The stages included lectures on media theory, demonstrations of media development steps, and practical exercises by participants. Evaluation was carried out to ensure the quality of the media produced. The PKM activity at SMA Negeri 4 Ambon City successfully provided a basis for developing learning media. Despite limited time, teachers were able to create interactive media. The evaluation results showed significant benefits of multimedia in improving learning. This collaboration emphasizes the importance of higher education and schools to improve the quality of education. Continuous support and training will strengthen the contribution of teachers.
