Abstract

ABSTRACT             Climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) is a kind of swamp fish which is potentially to be cultivated. Photoperiod is one of factor that influence growth from culture fish larvae. Light also influence growth hormone and make larvae easier to eat their feed because larvae usually visual feeder. The aim of this research is to determine the best photoperiod in larvae of age 3 – 27 days so as to generate growth and survival rate climbing perch of larvae highest in aquarium with defferent of photoperiod. The usage of the research are expected that different photoperiod can influence the growth and survival of climbing perch larvaes. The research was conducted on April - May 2016 in Laboratory of Budidaya Perairan, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This research methods used completely randomized design (CDR) with use six treatments and three replications of photoperiod those are P1(24L:0D), P2(18L:6D), P3(12L:12D), P4(6L:18D), P5(0L:24D). The parameters of this research are growth, survival rate of climbing perch larvae and maintenance of water quality. Abstract

ABSTRACT The Problems of climbing perch hatchery are low survival and growth rate in larvae. This is associated with the larvae ability to receive feed transition from the endogenous feeding to the exogenous feeding. During this period, feed must be consistent with required by the larvae either natural feed, artificial feed, or a combination. Naturaly silk worms is given, however availability silk worms is very limited in the wild. There to need to combine silk worms with artificial feed. The purpose of this study is to determine growth and survival rate of climbing perch larvae which is fed silk worms combined with artificial feed. The research had been conducted in Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan, Department of Aquaculture, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University on January until March 2016. The research method used a completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were P1 (silk worms 100% + 0% artificial feed), P2 (silk worms 75% + 25% artificial feed), P3 (silk worms 50% + artificial feed 50%), P4 (silk worms 25% + 75% artificial feed) and P5 (silk worms 0% + 100% artificial feed). Parameters that had been observed were survival rate, specific growth rate, and water quality parameters. The results showed that culture of climbing perch larvae fed silk worms, artificial feed and combination of them gave significant effect on survival rate and specific growth rate (weight and length). The treatment P3 resulted highest of survival rate 88.67% and specific growth rate (weights 20.16%.days-1 and length 8.11%.days-1). During the  research, water quality were in tolerance range for climbing perch larvae  rearing: temperature was  27-29 oC, pH 6.2-7.3, DO 4.11-5.50 mg.L-1, ammonia 0.01-0.21 mg.L-1. Abstract

Abalone has a specific taste, containing 71,99% protein; 3,2% lipid; 5,6% crude fiber; and 0,6% water. The selling price in the domestic market ranges from IDR 250.000-IDR 600.000 per kg depending on the size and in the international market it ranges from USD 22-USD 66 per kg depending on the quality and type. The hatchery activities begin with rearing broodstock until the gonads mature. It was placed in plastic crates with a density of 40-50 individuals/unit and fed with macroalgae. The parent which is ready to be spawned has developed gonad and covers the hepatopancreas organ over 50%, and carried out on a spawning container. Larvae rearing begins with a container that has been cultured with benthic diatom as the larvae feed. Abalone measuring 1-2 cm was harvested and transferred to seed maintenance containers. Seed maintenance was carried out for 2-3 months and produces abalone seeds ready for sale with a size of 3cm. Hatchery activities produce FR 60%, HR 85%, and SR 0,1-1%. Seed packaging was carried out using three stage, a net bag with a density of 75-100 individuals/bag, a plastic bag filled with 20 net bags/plastic sheet, and a styrofoam box filled with 1 plastic/box.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACTIndonesia has a high diversity of fish species. Some fish species are critical and endangered. Information on Indonesian native and endemic fish species needs to be disseminated to the public. Such information is available in various sources and is generally in a foreign language. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to inventory and distribute information about several species of fish native to Indonesian public waters that need special attention because they are endangered and critically endangered. Species of fish, especially species that have been critically endangered, do not rule out turning into extinct in the wild (extinct in the wild). The decline in the status of the above from vulnerable (vulnerable) to endangered (endangered) and critical (critically endangered) or even become extinct in the wild (extinct in the wild) caused by various factors, including the existence of fisheries activities that tend to exploit natural resources without offset by conservation activities and increasing pollution of water conditions. With this information, it is expected to anticipate the extinction of these species. The study was conducted using the literature study method. Based on the search results, there were 22 endangered fish species and 15 critically endangered fish species. The Indonesian government has designated 20 protected fish species. Domestication of endangered and critical species is urgent to do, to prevent the extinction of these species.
