Abstract

Electrospinning is a method of making nanomaterials that has a fairly easy and flexible process that can produce nanofiber continuously. Nanofiber morphology from the electrospinning process is influenced by several parameters, one of them is temperature as an environmental parameter. If there is no temperature control system in the electrospinning system, it will be difficult to maintain the consistency of the morphology nanofiber and at certain temperatures, nanofibers are not formed. Therefore, this study aims to develop a temperature control system for electrospinning called the Electrospinning Temperature Control (ETC) System and connect it with an internet-of- things (IoT) platform to understand the dynamics of the temperature control process, upload temperature data to the cloud, and remote monitoring. The method used by designing and building system hardware and software, calibrating DHT21 as a temperature sensor and testing system performance. The results show that the calibration of the DHT21 sensor has an accuracy rate of 94.95% and a precision rate of 98.93%, while the results of the performance test show that the system can raise, maintain, and lower the temperature. Further performance testing reveals that the ETC system can operate within a temperature range of 2040C. The IoT system using the Blynk App allows users to remote and monitor easily, and using Google Sheets as a cloud database. The ETC system was successfully built and can be applied to electrospinning experiments.

Abstract

In recent years, electrospinning has become the most common and most widely used nanofiber manufacturing method. One parameter affecting the manufacturing process is the humidity parameter, which affects the morphology. The control tools that have been developed have not been equipped with a remote control and monitoring system. This research aims to develop a humidity control system that can be controlled and monitored remotely and is equipped with data recapitulation. This research used methods from literature studies on humidity control systems, manufacture and assembly of hardware and software, calibration, and performance tests. A humidity control device is produced using a NodeMCU microcontroller connected to the IoT-based Blynk application. This can be controlled and monitored manually with an LCD and Keypad or by using a handphone through the Blynk application, and the humidity value can be recapitulated with Google Sheets in real-time. The sensor used for reading this humidity value is a DHT 22 sensor which has an accuracy value of 99.72% and a precision of 98.81% for 45%-95% humidity. This IoT-based humidity control system device can automate the process of controlling, monitoring, and recapitulating humidity data in real-time.

Abstract

A power logger is a device that has an electrical energy consumption monitoring function with an embedded data storage system to understand energy consumption patterns and improve the efficiency of energy usage. However, building meters without calibration causes inaccurate measurements and information. Therefore, the study reports a simple method to enhance any system's measurement quality via an Internet of Things (IoT)-based DC Power Logger case.  The IoT system built in the Blynk application enables the power logger to operate remotely and was integrated into a Google spreadsheet page to facilitate real-time data storage with an INA219 sensor as the measurement module. The calibration process of the power logger was conducted by comparing the measurement results obtained from the power logger with measurements obtained from a Sanwa multimeter. As a result, the calibration process ensures enhanced accuracy and precision of power logger measurements, which was validated by the validation process.

Abstract

Learning trends in the 21st-century require students to have the ability to sort appropriate information from certain sources. To do this, students must have critical thinking skills. One of the learning models that can facilitate students to think critically is a guided-inquiry lab. Thus, the purpose of this study was to quantitatively analyze the impact of the implementation of the guided-inquiry lab model on students' critical thinking skills on mechanics material. A pre-experimental method employing one group pretest-posttest only design was applied to obtain students' critical thinking skills data before and after the implementation of the guided-inquiry lab model. A total of 32 students from a junior high school in the city of Karanganyar, Central Java, were involved as the samples in this study. The data obtained were then analyzed using N-gain calculations. Based on the data analysis, there are 81.25% of students have medium creative thinking skills after being taught with a guided-inquiry lab, meaning there is an increase in the average score of students after being taught using a guided-inquiry lab model. It can be concluded that the implementation of the guided-inquiry lab model is effective to improve students' critical thinking skills
