Abstract

The purpose of this research were : 1) value calving intervalof dairy cattles on people’s livestocksome districts/cities at Lampung Province; 2) the factors and value factors which disturbing calving interval of dairy cattles on people livestock at some districts/cities at Lampung Province. This research was held on June-July 2016 with 37 dairy cattles, 11 farmers, and 3 inseminators at Tanggamus District, West Lampung District, and Metro City. This research used survey method. Data was analyse by multiple regression analysis.  The result showed that calving interval of dairy cattles on people’s livestock at Lampung Provinceis 15,95 month. Factors that affecting calving interval of dairy cattles on people livestock at some disricts/cities at Lampung Province were long empty period, long dry period, and long lactation. Keywords : Calving Interval, Factor, Dairy Cattle, People Livestock

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of supplements probiotic on layer performance (consumption and conversion ration, persentage hen day and egg weight). This research was held on 21 July?24 August 2014 in the CV. Varia Agung Jaya henhouse laying in the District of Seputih Mataram, Center of Lampung Regency. Local probiotic was made in Microbiology Laboratorium and Moleculer Biology Laboratorium, Faculty of MIPA, Lampung University. The study used completely randomized design with 3 treatments (P1: control ration, P2: control ration with local probiotic 3%, and P3: control ration with comercial probiotic 3%) and 6 replications. Data obtained was analyzed using analysis of variance at 5% level and continued Duncan test at 5% level. Based on the results we can conclude: the effect of treatments significant (P<0.05) on consumption and conversion ration, but no significant (P>0.05) on percentage of hen day and egg weight. Control ration significantly (P<0.05) with control ration with local probiotic 3% and control ration with comercial probiotic 3% on consumption and conversion ration, but no significant (P>0.05) on supplement probiotic. Abstract

The purpose of this research was 1) investigated the effect of additional probiotic from local microbial to blood description of layer, especially erythrocytes and hemoglobin; 2) investigated the level of optimalitation additional probiotic from local microbial of layer. The research was conducted on 20th of December 2014 until 19th of January 2015 in Varia Agung Jaya village, Seputih Mataram subdistrict, Lampung Tengah.  The fabrication of probiotic from local mikrobial at 8th until 19th December 2014 in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Lampung University. This experiment arranged a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 probiotic levels of local microbes (0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%) and 5 replications. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance at 1% and continued with Polynom Orthogonal test at 1%. The result of this research showed that the additional of probiotic from local microbial (0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%) was not significant effect (P>0,05) to the number of erythrocytes of layer, but highly significant effect (P <0,01) to the number of hemoglobin. Probiotic levels of local microbial (0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%) can increase the number of hemoglobin with regression equality (Ŷ = 6,68 + 0,48X).   (Keywords: Layer, Probiotics from local microbial, The number of erythrocytes and Hemoglobin)

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of farmer management on Balicattle reproduction efficiency in Pringsewu Regency, Lampung Province. This studywas conducted in August?September 2015 to 108 farmers and 143 Bali with censusmethod. Data were analyzed by logistic regression and multiple regression.The results showed that the CR was 51,75% with kind of grass that negativelyassociated with factor value 0,199, wall of cow?s pen that positively associated withfactor value 1,455, and sanitation of cow?s pen that positively associated with factorvalue 0,510, body conditioning score that negatively associated with factor value0,533 and first mating age that negatively associated with factor value 0,059. The CIwas 416,69 ± 70,03 days with farmer?s reason that negatively associated with factorvalue 28,379, floor of cow?s pen that positively associated with factor value 19,880,age of weaning calf that positively associated with factor value 0,076, first mating agethat positively associated with factor value 0,972, and state of reproduction thatnegatively associated with factor value 125,306. The S/C was 1,76 with farmereducation that negatively associated with factor value 0,200, large of cow?s pen thatnegatively associated with factor value 0,016, and sanitation of cow?s pen thatnegatively associated with factor value 0,297. The RB was 18,18% with farmer?sduration that negatively associated with factor value 0,059, the amount of water thatnegatively associated with factor value 0,058, large of cow?s pen that negativelyassociated with factor value 0,109 and sanitation of cow?s pen that negativelyassociated with factor value 1,154.Key words : Bali cattle, farmer management, CR, CI, SC, RB

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of straw space with liquid nitrogen on pre freezingprocess and the best straw space to the quality of frozen semen of Limousin Cows so that they areappropriate for Artificial Insemination process. This study was conducted in Regional TechnicalService Unit-Regional Artificial Insemination Office Lampung, Terbanggi Besar District, CentralLampung Regency, Lampung Province on 7th—13 th April 2014. The Completely RandomizedDesign (CRD) was used is these research with five treatments of straw spaces, 2 cm, 4 cm, 6 cm, 8cm, and 10 cm, with 4 replications. The data obtained was analyzed by using variance analysisandcontinued by Polinomial Ortogonal test.The result of this study showed that the straw space was significantly (P<0,01) to the motilityand live spermatozoa after thawing. However it was not significantly (P>0,05) to the motility and livespermatozoa after pre freezing. Polinomial Ortogonal test, obtained that the straw space wassignificantly (P<0,01) to the motility and live spermatozoa after thawing, had quadratic pattern withequation of Y = - 6,50 + 12,09x – 0,89x2 ; R2 = 41,3%, with the best effect on the straw space of 6 cm,that is 34%. Besides, the straw space was also different (P<0,01) to percentage of live spermatozoaafter thawing, had quadratic pattern with equation of Y = 8,97 + 8,81x - 0,64x2 ; R2 = 41,3%, withthe best effect on the straw space of 6 cm, that is 38,79%.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the hematological profile (erythrocytes, leukocytes, andhemoglobin) of grower laying hens with different cage density and the best cage density. Thisresearch has been conducted in April 2014 using 210 grower laying hens 7--10 weeks in Varia AgungJaya Farm and Balai Veteriner Lampung. The treatment is given based on completely randomizeddesign (CRD), consisting of four treatments and five replications. The data was analyzed usinganalysis of variance on 5% significance level.The result of the research shows that the density of the cage 6,9,12, and 15 hens m-2 have notsignificant (P>0,05) on hematological profile (erythrocytes 1,04--2,74 x 106 mm-3; leukocytes 27,96--52,52 x 103 mm-3; and hemoglobin 6,40--8,20 g/dl).

Abstract

These study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Nigella sativa in increasing HDL levels and reducing LDL levels in male broilers. This research was conducted in December 2019 - January 2020 at the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Analysis of HDL and LDL levels was carried out in Pramitra Biolab Indonesia. The study used sixty blood samples of Cobb male broiler. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and each treatment was repeated three times, namely drinking water without a mixture of Nigella sativa (P0), drinking water with 36 mg/kg body weight=BW/day Nigella sativa (P1), drinking water with 72 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa (P2), drinking water with 144 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa (P3). Based on descriptive analysis that has been done Nigella sativa was effective in increasing HDL levels and reducing LDL levels in male broilers. Giving Nigella sativa with dose of 72 mg/kg BW/day resulted in the highest HDL levels of 88.6 mg/dl, whereas administration of Nigella sativa with dose of 144 mg/kg BW/day resulted in the lowest LDL level of 31.3 mg/dl. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the factors and factors value affecting calving interval of Ongole Grade (PO) cattle in Wawasan Village, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency. The Research was conducted on 20 December 2019 – 15 January 2020 using 100 PO cattle in Wawasan Village, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency. This research used census method. Data was analyzed by linear regression using SPSS program. The result showed that calving interval of PO cattle in Wawasan Village, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency was 23.17 ± 6.05 month. The factors that affect the calving interval were, at the farmer level, the breeding experience was negatively associated with a factor of 0.384. At the livestock level, postpartum mating was positively associated with a factor of 0.755 and weaning age was positively associated with a factor of 0.650. At the inseminator level, thawing time is positively associated with a factor of 0.813. Keywords: Calving interval, Factor and factor value, Ongole Grade (PO) cattle

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of various diluents on the quality of Boer goat’s semen after the sexing process using the BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin) albumin column method and to find out the best diluent on the quality of semen from sexing. This research was conducted on July, 11th to 25th 2019 at the Lembang Artificial Insemination Laboratory, Kayuambon, Lembang, West Java. Completely randomized design with three treatments and three replications was used in this research. The treatment given covering giving diluents of andromed (P1), skim milk (P2), and biomed (P3). The variables observed were motility, viability, and abnormality. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and it was followed by Duncan test. The results of this research indicated that the treatment using andromed (P1), skim milk (P2), and biomed (P3) was not significantly different (P>0,05) on motility, viability, and abnormality of Boer goat’s cement from sexing. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the best dose of purslane flour on red blood cells, hemoglobin, and packed cell volume in Jawarandu Goats. This research was conducted in February-March 2021 at the Rambon Asri Cattle Group, Rejo Asri Village, Seputih Raman District, Central Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. Examination of red blood cells, hemoglobin, and packed cell volume was carried out at the Veterinary Center of Lampung Province. The experiment used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were basal ration (P0), basal ration with 5% purslane flour supplementation (P1), basal ration with 10% purslane flour supplementation (P2), and basal ration with 15% purslane flour supplementation (P3). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance with a significance level of 5% and continued with orthogonal polynomials. The results showed that purslane flour supplementation had no significant effect (P>0.05) on total erythrocytes and hemoglobin, but had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the volume of packed cells of Jawarandu Goat. The optimum dose of purslane flour supplementation on red blood cells, hemoglobin, and hematocrit were 3.01% Kg/BK ration, 2.17% Kg/BK ration, and 3.16% Kg/BK ration, respectively.
