Abstract

Moringa ( Moringa oleifera L.) is one of the herbal plants that grows in Indonesia. Moringa oleifera has many properties, namely that it can act as an antidiabetic, antibacterial, antitumor, antipyretic, antiepileptic, antiinflammatory, antiulcer, antispasmodic, diuretic, antihypertensive, cholesterol lowering, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, antifungal. The aim of preparing this review is to determine the cytotoxic activity of Moringa oleifera L.) and the mechanism of action of secondary metabolites that can be isolated from Moringa. The preparation of this review comes from articles obtained through the Google Scholar database , PubMed and Sciencedirect with the keywords namely " Cytotoxic AND " Moringa oleifera lam" AND Anticancer AND IC50 values ". The inclusion criteria set were original articles or articles full text in PDF format regarding the potential cytotoxic activity of the Moringa oleifera L. plant in vitro with a publication year range of 2012-2021, using the MTT assay method , has an IC value of 50 < 50 µg/mL in the leaves and seeds and has an IC value 50 < 100 µg/mL in other plant parts . From these criteria, 10 suitable articles were obtained . The results of the analysis show that the cytotoxic activity of M. oleifera against several cancer cells can be categorized as active to very active . Next, it can be seen if it has anticancer activity M. oleifera is obtained from secondary metabolites resulting from extraction M. oleifera . Secondary metabolites that have been isolated from M. oleifera is known to contain lectins, routine, quercetin, astragalin, isoquercetin, glucomoringin, 7-Octenoid Acid, Oleamide, and 1-Phenyl-2-Pentanol. This metabolite has an anticancer mechanism in the form of inducing apoptosis through : (1 ) ROS -mediated signaling pathways , (2) targeting the anti-apoptotic protein BCL-2 family, (3) regulation of the tumor suppressor protein p53, (4) inhibition of NF- κB, and ( 5) decrease in MAPK signal.

Abstract

The program of community service began with the socialization of applications on the village government and partners. Furthermore, it introduced machinery/technology to create technology on partners. The purpose of the community service activity was to provide the skills in the production of cumi-cumi products from sweet potato to members of Aisyiyah, PKK, and Karang Taruna in Karangbangun Village - Karanganyar District. The community service program began with a socialization program by the village government and partners. Furthermore, machines and technology were introduced to partners. The training of cumi-cumi product making and packaging was given to the partners, as well as production assistance, to ensure that partners were skilled at processing the products independently. The results showed that the partners were skilled at producing cumi-cumi products and using the machines. Two new UMKMs were formed in the community service program. Partners have been packing the products with labeled, marketed the products locally, as well as getting income from these sales.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki kekayaan hayati yang tinggi. Salah satu kekayaan hayati Indonesia adalah tanaman salak. Tanaman salak (Salacca zalacca) merupakan tanaman tropis yang dapat ditemukan hampir di seluruh wilayah Indonesia. Tanaman salak diketahui memiliki berbagai aktivitas farmakologi. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanaman salak memiliki aktivitas farmakologi sebagai antioksidan, diuretik, dan lainnya. Tujuan penulisan literature review ini adalah untuk mengkaji aktivitas-aktivitas farmakologi pada tanaman salak berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan dan dipublikasikan sebelumnya. Metode yang digunakan untuk penyusunan literature review dilakukan dengan penelusuran melalui database google scholar dan pubmed menggunakan kata kunci “Salacca AND (Activity OR Aktivitas OR Pharmacology OR Farmakologi)”. Artikel yang diperoleh kemudian disaring dengan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Kriteria inklusi yang digunakan adalah literatur primer tahun 2013-2022 yang dapat diakses full textnya dan artikel nasional atau internasional yang membahas tentang aktivitas farmakologi pada tanaman salak. Berdasarkan hasil penelusuran yang dilakukan didapatkan 25 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria. Hasil analisis menunjukkan tanaman salak memiliki aktivitas sebagai antioksidan, α-glucosidase inhibitory, antikanker, antibakteri, antifungi, antihiperurisemia dan diuretik.

Abstract

The Chloranthus genus (Chloranthaceae family) has been traditionally used in Asian medicine as an anti-inflammatory agent, but recent scientific exploration reveals broader pharmacological potential. This systematic review aims to evaluate the latest experimental evidence on the antioxidant, cytotoxic, and anti-inflammatory activities of Chloranthus-derived compounds and elucidate their molecular mechanisms. Studies were selected through structured database searches using specific keyword combinations and screened using rigorous inclusion-exclusion criteria. The findings highlight a predominance of sesquiterpenoids, particularly lindenane-type (monomers, dimers, and trimers), which consistently exhibit anti-inflammatory effects via inhibition of NF-κB and MAPK pathways and modulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Antioxidant activity through the Nrf2/Keap1 pathway and cytotoxic effects against cancer cells were also frequently reported. Notably, several compounds demonstrated dual actions, suppressing both ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) production and proinflammatory cytokines, emphasizing their relevance in treating diseases involving oxidative stress and inflammation. These results support Chloranthus as a promising natural source of multitarget bioactive compounds. Future research should adopt a multidisciplinary approach to further elucidate molecular targets, validate in vivo efficacy, and explore novel biological resources.

Abstract

 Diabetes mellitus remains a global health challenge. In Indonesia, diabetes ranks third as a killer disease after heart disease and cancer. Flavonoids as natural antioxidants have been proven effective in reducing the pathogenesis of diabetes and its complications. Nypa fruticans is one of the plants that has the potential as an antidiabetic with high flavonoid content. The purpose of this study was to explore the potential of the ethyl acetate fraction of nipah fronds as an antidiabetic, especially in reducing blood glucose levels, stimulating insulin secretion, improving pancreatic β-cells and increasing the number of pancreatic β-cells. This study was an experimental study conducted in-vivo with a streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rat model. The ethyl acetate fraction of nipah fronds with doses of 125, 250 and 500 mg/kgBW was administered to STZ-induced diabetic rats 65 mg/kgBW with glibenclamide 0.45 mg/kgBW as a comparison for 21 days with observed parameters including serum insulin levels and histopathology. The results showed that administration of the ethyl acetate fraction of nipah fronds at doses of 250 and 500 mg/kgBW caused a significant decrease (p<0.05) in blood glucose levels with a significant increase (p<0.05) in serum insulin levels compared to the negative control. In a histopathological study of the pancreas, the ethyl acetate fraction showed a regenerative effect on pancreatic β-cells by reducing the degree of insulitis and significantly increasing (p<0.05) the number of pancreatic β-cells in the islets of Langerhans compared to the negative control. Based on these results, it can be concluded that administration of the ethyl acetate fraction of nipah fronds exhibits antihyperglycemic activity by regenerating pancreatic β-cells and increasing the number of pancreatic β-cells, thereby increasing serum insulin levels.Keywords: Nypa fruticans Wurmb; antidiabetic; insulin secretion; insulitis; pancreatic β-cells ABSTRAK Diabetes mellitus masih menjadi tantangan kesehatan secara global. Di Indonesia, diabetes menduduki peringkat ketiga sebagai penyakit pembunuh setelah penyakit jantung dan kanker. Flavonoid sebagai antioksidan alami terbukti efektif dalam mengurangi patogenesis diabetes dan komplikasinya. Nypa fruticans merupakan salah satu tanaman yang berpotensi sebagai antidiabetes dengan kandungan tinggi flavonoid. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengeksplorasi potensi fraksi etil asetat pelepah nipah sebagai antidiabetes khususnya dalam menurunkan kadar glukosa darah, stimulasi sekresi insulin, perbaikan sel β-pankreas dan peningkatan jumlah sel β-pankreas. Penelitian ini merupakan studi eksperimental yang dilakukan secara in-vivo dengan model tikus diabetes yang diinduksi streptozotocin (STZ). Fraksi etil asetat pelepah nipah dengan dosis 125, 250 dan 500 mg/kgBB diberikan pada tikus diabetes yang diinduksi STZ 65 mg/kg BB dengan glibenclamide 0,45 mg/kgBB sebagai pembanding selama 21 hari dengan parameter yang diamati meliputi kadar insulin serum, dan histopatologi pankreas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian fraksi etil asetat pelepah nipah dengan dosis 250 dan 500 mg/kgBB menyebabkan penurunan signifikan (p <0,05) kadar glukosa darah dengan peningkatan signifikan (p <0,05) kadar insulin serum jika dibandingkan dengan kontrol negatif. Dalam studi histopatologi pankreas fraksi etil asetat menunjukkan efek regenerasi sel β-pankreas dengan menurunkan derajat insulitis dan peningkatan secara signifikan (p <0,05) jumlah sel β-pankreas pulau Langerhans jika dibanding kontrol negatif. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian fraksi etil asetat pelepah nipah menunjukkan aktivitas antihiperglikemik dengan meregenerasi sel-sel β-pankreas dan meningkatkan jumlah sel β-pankreas, sehingga meningkatkan kadar insulin serum.Kata kunci: Nypa fruticans Wurmb; antidiabetes; sekresi insulin; insulitis; sel β-pankreas

Abstract

Besar kecilnya kontribusi yang diberikan suatu kegiatan usaha menjadi tolak ukur keberhasilan atas kegiatan usaha untuk dijadikan pertimbangan dalam keberlanjutannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kontribusi budidaya kerang hijau terhadap pendapatan nelayan di Kecamatan Teluk Betung Timur, Kota Bandar Lampung. Responden pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh populasi nelayan yang berbudidaya kerang hijau, sebanyak 47 orang dan 4 orang informan dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan survei, wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan budidaya kerang hijau mampu memberikan kontribusi yang tergolong sedang sebesar 41% dari total pendapatan nelayan. Pengembangan diversifikasi usaha melalui kombinasi budidaya kerang hijau dan penangkapan ikan penting untuk dikembangkan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Stunting masih menjadi fos permasalahan yang dihadapi di negara berkembang. Penurunan prevalensi stunting tahun 2024 belum sesuai dengna target yang ditetapkan. Pemberian makanan dengan gizi seimbang menjadi intervensi spesifik dalam penanganan stunting dengan melibatkan masyarakat. Mengoptimalkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan ibu dalam memberikan makanan gizi seimbang pada balita. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan edukasi makanan gizi seimbang dan lomba masak makanan gizi seimbang berbahan utama telur. Adapun tahapan yang dilakukan adalah persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Sebanyak 20 ibu balita dan 5 kader mengikuti edukasi. Adanya peningkatan rata-rata skor pengetahuan ibu dan kader sebanyak 61 %. Peningkatan pengetahuan peserta meliputi definisi dan manfaat gizi seimbang, ide kreativitas ibu dalam pengolahan makanan, serta keinginan untuk menerapkan pola makan sehat. Tercipta 4 menu berbahan utama telur dari 4 kelompok dengan memadukan karbohidrat, protein, vitamin dan mineral. Adanya variasi bahan makanan yang dipilih peserta, pengolahan dan penyajiannya. Kegiatan pemberdayaan ibu melalui edukasi dan lomba memasak mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan ibu tentang gizi seimbang sebagai upaya cegah stunting pada balita. Kata Kunci: Pemberdayaan, Ibu, Gizi Seimbang, Stunting  ABSTRACT Stunting remains a problem faced in developing countries. The reduction in stunting prevalence by 2024 has not met the established target. Providing balanced nutrition is a specific intervention in handling stunting by involving the community. To improve mothers' knowledge and skills in providing balanced nutrition to toddlers. Research Method: This activity was carried out through education on balanced nutrition and a cooking competition using eggs as the main ingredient. The stages carried out were preparation, implementation, and evaluation. A total of 20 mothers of toddlers and 5 cadres participated in the education. There was an average increase in the knowledge score of mothers and cadres by 61%. The increase in participants' knowledge included balanced nutrition, creativity in food processing, and awareness of implementing a healthy diet. 4 egg-based menus were created from 4 groups by combining carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. There was a variety of food ingredients chosen by participants, their processing, and presentation. Conclusion: Mother empowerment activities through education and cooking competitions were able to improve mothers' knowledge and skills regarding balanced nutrition as an effort to prevent stunting in toddlers. Keywords: Empowerement, Mother, Balanced Nutrition, Stunting

Abstract

Kementerian Kesehatan melaporkan prevalensi kanker meningkat dalam lima tahun terakhir. Agen kemoterapi sistemik seperti 5-fluorouracil, trastuzumab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, dan tamoxifen digunakan untuk mengobati penyakit kanker. Namun, antikanker ini memiliki efek samping merugikan seperti toksisitas jantung, kegagalan sumsum tulang, trombositopenia, dan mukositis. Penggunaan obat baru yang  lebih efektif dan minim efek samping, di antaranya adalah obat herbal tradisional, yang merupakan bahan alami untuk mencegah perkembangan dan progresivitas kanker. Berdasarkan penelitian sebelumnya dilakukan penelitian mengenai aktivitas antioksidan, antidiare, antiinflamasi dan antelmintik pada genus Glochidion. Genus ini memiliki potensi dalam berbagai aktivitas sehingga perlu dilakukan penyelidikan lain mengenai uji toksisitas terhadap kanker. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji potensi sitotoksik ekstrak  etanol daun dan kulit batang Mareme (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) terhadap sel MCF-7 serta menghitung persen sel hidup ekstrak etanol daun dan kulit batang mareme terhadap sel MCF-7. Sampel dimaserasi dengan etanol 96%. Pengujian sitotoksik menggunakan metode MTT Assay dengan seri konsentrasi 800, 700, dan 600 μg/mL. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak etanol daun dan kulit batang Mareme tidak memiliki aktivitas sitotoksik terhadap sel MCF-7. Daun dan kulit batang memiliki persen sel hidup 35,55% dan 13,81% terhadap sel MCF-7.

Abstract

Cancer is a disease that can attack any part of the body when the abnormal cells begin to grow uncontrollably beyond the limit, then attack the connected parts of the body and / or spread to other organs. The noni plant (Morinda citrifolia L) is a herbal plant that can be used as a treatment for various diseases, one of which is cancer. The noni (Morinda citrifolia L) plant contains phytochemicals ranging from fruit, seeds, leaves and roots. This review article aims to examine the cytotoxicity effects of noni (Morinda citrifolia L) plants on cancer cells. The library sources in this article review use the Google Scholar and PubMed databases. The inclusion criteria used were articles containing the cytotoxic test of noni (Morinda citrifolia L) with the last 10 years of publication (2011-2020), original research, there were results of anticancer activity in the form of IC50 and research using noni plant extracts (Morinda citrifolia L). The exclusion criteria used were articles that did not contain a full text, used plants with different genus, did not have an IC50 value and were not original research. From the journals that have been analyzed, it can be said that the extract of the noni (Morinda citrifolia L) plant can be developed for cancer treatment. Noni plant has cytotoxic activity because it contains active compounds in the form of damnacanthal, nordamnacanthal, morindone, flavonoids and alkaloids. Based on the results of the cytotoxic test of Morinda citrifolia extract, the plant parts that have the strongest cytotoxic effect are fruit> roots> root bark> leaves> shoots.

Abstract

Mareme plant (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) is a plant that has the potential to treat cancer. In a study on the leaves and bark of the Mareme (Glocidion arborescens Blume.) plant, tests for antioxidant, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory activities were previously carried out. Secondary metabolites that play a role in cytotoxic activity in Mareme plants are flavonoids, and these compounds can specifically kill the progression of cancer cells. This study aims to determine the content of compounds, examine cytotoxic activity, and determine the percentage of living cells in the leaves and bark of Mareme (Glochidion arborescens Blume.). The leaves and bark of Mareme (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) were extracted by maceration using a 96% ethanol solvent, then identification of the compounds was carried out to determine the content contained in the ethanol extract of the leaves and stem bark of Mareme, and then a cytotoxic test was carried out using the MTT assay method. The compounds contained in Mareme leaves are flavonoids, tannins, steroids, saponins, and polyphenolics, while the chemical compounds in Mareme stem bark are flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and polyphenolics. Tests were carried out at concentrations of 500, 600, and 800 µg/mL. The results of the cytotoxic test showed that the value of live cells in the ethanol extract of Mareme leaves (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) was 114.21, 106.21, and 78.91%, respectively. While the value of live cells in the ethanol extract of Mareme stem bark (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) was 59.56, 56.37, and 42.85%, respectively. The higher the concentration, the smaller the living cells produced.
