Abstract

The Chloranthus genus (Chloranthaceae family) has been traditionally used in Asian medicine as an anti-inflammatory agent, but recent scientific exploration reveals broader pharmacological potential. This systematic review aims to evaluate the latest experimental evidence on the antioxidant, cytotoxic, and anti-inflammatory activities of Chloranthus-derived compounds and elucidate their molecular mechanisms. Studies were selected through structured database searches using specific keyword combinations and screened using rigorous inclusion-exclusion criteria. The findings highlight a predominance of sesquiterpenoids, particularly lindenane-type (monomers, dimers, and trimers), which consistently exhibit anti-inflammatory effects via inhibition of NF-κB and MAPK pathways and modulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Antioxidant activity through the Nrf2/Keap1 pathway and cytotoxic effects against cancer cells were also frequently reported. Notably, several compounds demonstrated dual actions, suppressing both ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) production and proinflammatory cytokines, emphasizing their relevance in treating diseases involving oxidative stress and inflammation. These results support Chloranthus as a promising natural source of multitarget bioactive compounds. Future research should adopt a multidisciplinary approach to further elucidate molecular targets, validate in vivo efficacy, and explore novel biological resources.

Abstract

Besar kecilnya kontribusi yang diberikan suatu kegiatan usaha menjadi tolak ukur keberhasilan atas kegiatan usaha untuk dijadikan pertimbangan dalam keberlanjutannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kontribusi budidaya kerang hijau terhadap pendapatan nelayan di Kecamatan Teluk Betung Timur, Kota Bandar Lampung. Responden pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh populasi nelayan yang berbudidaya kerang hijau, sebanyak 47 orang dan 4 orang informan dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan survei, wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan budidaya kerang hijau mampu memberikan kontribusi yang tergolong sedang sebesar 41% dari total pendapatan nelayan. Pengembangan diversifikasi usaha melalui kombinasi budidaya kerang hijau dan penangkapan ikan penting untuk dikembangkan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Stunting masih menjadi fos permasalahan yang dihadapi di negara berkembang. Penurunan prevalensi stunting tahun 2024 belum sesuai dengna target yang ditetapkan. Pemberian makanan dengan gizi seimbang menjadi intervensi spesifik dalam penanganan stunting dengan melibatkan masyarakat. Mengoptimalkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan ibu dalam memberikan makanan gizi seimbang pada balita. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan edukasi makanan gizi seimbang dan lomba masak makanan gizi seimbang berbahan utama telur. Adapun tahapan yang dilakukan adalah persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Sebanyak 20 ibu balita dan 5 kader mengikuti edukasi. Adanya peningkatan rata-rata skor pengetahuan ibu dan kader sebanyak 61 %. Peningkatan pengetahuan peserta meliputi definisi dan manfaat gizi seimbang, ide kreativitas ibu dalam pengolahan makanan, serta keinginan untuk menerapkan pola makan sehat. Tercipta 4 menu berbahan utama telur dari 4 kelompok dengan memadukan karbohidrat, protein, vitamin dan mineral. Adanya variasi bahan makanan yang dipilih peserta, pengolahan dan penyajiannya. Kegiatan pemberdayaan ibu melalui edukasi dan lomba memasak mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan ibu tentang gizi seimbang sebagai upaya cegah stunting pada balita. Kata Kunci: Pemberdayaan, Ibu, Gizi Seimbang, Stunting  ABSTRACT Stunting remains a problem faced in developing countries. The reduction in stunting prevalence by 2024 has not met the established target. Providing balanced nutrition is a specific intervention in handling stunting by involving the community. To improve mothers' knowledge and skills in providing balanced nutrition to toddlers. Research Method: This activity was carried out through education on balanced nutrition and a cooking competition using eggs as the main ingredient. The stages carried out were preparation, implementation, and evaluation. A total of 20 mothers of toddlers and 5 cadres participated in the education. There was an average increase in the knowledge score of mothers and cadres by 61%. The increase in participants' knowledge included balanced nutrition, creativity in food processing, and awareness of implementing a healthy diet. 4 egg-based menus were created from 4 groups by combining carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. There was a variety of food ingredients chosen by participants, their processing, and presentation. Conclusion: Mother empowerment activities through education and cooking competitions were able to improve mothers' knowledge and skills regarding balanced nutrition as an effort to prevent stunting in toddlers. Keywords: Empowerement, Mother, Balanced Nutrition, Stunting

Abstract

Kementerian Kesehatan melaporkan prevalensi kanker meningkat dalam lima tahun terakhir. Agen kemoterapi sistemik seperti 5-fluorouracil, trastuzumab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, dan tamoxifen digunakan untuk mengobati penyakit kanker. Namun, antikanker ini memiliki efek samping merugikan seperti toksisitas jantung, kegagalan sumsum tulang, trombositopenia, dan mukositis. Penggunaan obat baru yang  lebih efektif dan minim efek samping, di antaranya adalah obat herbal tradisional, yang merupakan bahan alami untuk mencegah perkembangan dan progresivitas kanker. Berdasarkan penelitian sebelumnya dilakukan penelitian mengenai aktivitas antioksidan, antidiare, antiinflamasi dan antelmintik pada genus Glochidion. Genus ini memiliki potensi dalam berbagai aktivitas sehingga perlu dilakukan penyelidikan lain mengenai uji toksisitas terhadap kanker. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji potensi sitotoksik ekstrak  etanol daun dan kulit batang Mareme (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) terhadap sel MCF-7 serta menghitung persen sel hidup ekstrak etanol daun dan kulit batang mareme terhadap sel MCF-7. Sampel dimaserasi dengan etanol 96%. Pengujian sitotoksik menggunakan metode MTT Assay dengan seri konsentrasi 800, 700, dan 600 μg/mL. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak etanol daun dan kulit batang Mareme tidak memiliki aktivitas sitotoksik terhadap sel MCF-7. Daun dan kulit batang memiliki persen sel hidup 35,55% dan 13,81% terhadap sel MCF-7.

Abstract

Cancer is a disease that can attack any part of the body when the abnormal cells begin to grow uncontrollably beyond the limit, then attack the connected parts of the body and / or spread to other organs. The noni plant (Morinda citrifolia L) is a herbal plant that can be used as a treatment for various diseases, one of which is cancer. The noni (Morinda citrifolia L) plant contains phytochemicals ranging from fruit, seeds, leaves and roots. This review article aims to examine the cytotoxicity effects of noni (Morinda citrifolia L) plants on cancer cells. The library sources in this article review use the Google Scholar and PubMed databases. The inclusion criteria used were articles containing the cytotoxic test of noni (Morinda citrifolia L) with the last 10 years of publication (2011-2020), original research, there were results of anticancer activity in the form of IC50 and research using noni plant extracts (Morinda citrifolia L). The exclusion criteria used were articles that did not contain a full text, used plants with different genus, did not have an IC50 value and were not original research. From the journals that have been analyzed, it can be said that the extract of the noni (Morinda citrifolia L) plant can be developed for cancer treatment. Noni plant has cytotoxic activity because it contains active compounds in the form of damnacanthal, nordamnacanthal, morindone, flavonoids and alkaloids. Based on the results of the cytotoxic test of Morinda citrifolia extract, the plant parts that have the strongest cytotoxic effect are fruit> roots> root bark> leaves> shoots.

Abstract

Mareme plant (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) is a plant that has the potential to treat cancer. In a study on the leaves and bark of the Mareme (Glocidion arborescens Blume.) plant, tests for antioxidant, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory activities were previously carried out. Secondary metabolites that play a role in cytotoxic activity in Mareme plants are flavonoids, and these compounds can specifically kill the progression of cancer cells. This study aims to determine the content of compounds, examine cytotoxic activity, and determine the percentage of living cells in the leaves and bark of Mareme (Glochidion arborescens Blume.). The leaves and bark of Mareme (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) were extracted by maceration using a 96% ethanol solvent, then identification of the compounds was carried out to determine the content contained in the ethanol extract of the leaves and stem bark of Mareme, and then a cytotoxic test was carried out using the MTT assay method. The compounds contained in Mareme leaves are flavonoids, tannins, steroids, saponins, and polyphenolics, while the chemical compounds in Mareme stem bark are flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and polyphenolics. Tests were carried out at concentrations of 500, 600, and 800 µg/mL. The results of the cytotoxic test showed that the value of live cells in the ethanol extract of Mareme leaves (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) was 114.21, 106.21, and 78.91%, respectively. While the value of live cells in the ethanol extract of Mareme stem bark (Glochidion arborescens Blume.) was 59.56, 56.37, and 42.85%, respectively. The higher the concentration, the smaller the living cells produced.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder indicated by high blood glucose levels. Red castor is a plant that has potential in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. This study aims to measure the impact of ethanol extract from the roots of the red castor plant (Jatropha gossypiifolia L.) in reducing blood glucose levels in male white Wistar rats that have been induced with alloxan at a dose of 150 mg/kgBW. The study used 25 male mice divided into 5 treatment groups. The negative control group was given distilled water as a substitute for the substance being tested, while the positive control group was given a dose of glibenclamide of 5 mg/kgBW. Apart from that, there were 3 treatment groups that were given extract from red castor root at doses of 25, 50 and 100 mg/kgBW respectively. Treatment was given for 14 days. Alloxan 150 mg/kgBW was used so that mice experienced an increase in blood glucose levels exceeding 200 mg/dL. The results of decreasing blood glucose levels respectively at doses of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kgBW were 101.0 mg/dL, 81.6 mg/dL, and 79.4 mg/dL. The percentage reduction in blood glucose levels obtained at doses of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kgBB was 73.63%, 77.89%, and 80.10%. Based on the results of statistical tests, the effect of using ethanol extract of red castor root at doses of 25 mg/kgBB, 50 mg/kgBB, and 100 mg/kgBB is comparable to using 5 mg/kgBB glibenclamide

Abstract

Karas tulang plant (Chloranthus erectus) is a medicinal plant that has been used in several areas such as China and Southeast Asia. There has been no research regarding the potential of bone karas leaves as an antidiabetic through inhibiting the α-glucosidase enzyme from the ethanol extract of bone karas leaves. Inhibition of the α-glucosidase enzyme can work due to the presence of phytochemical compounds, such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins and quinones. This is because the phytochemical compounds contained therein can act as antidiabetic agents to prevent hyperglycemia in diabetes sufferers. This research aims to identify chemical compounds and the activity of the α-glucosidase enzyme in the ethanol extract of leaves contained in karas bone leaves. The thin layer chromatography method was used to screen phytochemical chemicals for alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The ELISA reader 405 nm method was used to test the inhibition of the α-glucosidase enzyme. The substrate used was p-NPG while the comparison used was acarbose tablets. The results of this research were that the IC50 value for the extract was 30.541 ????g/mL while for acarbose it was 3.873 ????g/mL. From these results it can be concluded that the inhibitory power of the α-glucosidase enzyme is in the active category, while that of acarbose is in the very active category.

Abstract

Tanaman gelang biasa (Portulaca oleracea L.) atau yang sering disebut Krokot memiliki aktivitas farmakologis sebagai antioksidan. Antioksidan adalah senyawa yang mampu membersihkan, menghilangkan, dan menangkal radikal bebas atau pembentukan senyawa oksigen reaktif dalam tubuh. Senyawa kimia yang terkandung pada tanaman gelang biasa (Portulaca oleracea L.) yakni flavonoid yang merupakan senyawa bioaktif utama yang terkandung pada tanaman gelang biasa. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengukur potensi antioksidan yang terkandung dalam ekstrak etanol herba gelang biasa (Portulaca oleracea L.). Metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis nilai antioksidan yakni DPPH (2,2- Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power), dan CUPRAC (Cupric Ion Reducing Antioxidant Capacity). Hasil dari penelitian yang dilakukan yakni Pengukuran TPC (Total Phenolic Content) sebesar 179,66 mg GAE/g ekstrak. Analisis aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH, FRAP, dan CUPRAC didapatkan nilai IC50 berturut-turut 88,08; 297,99; dan -309,06 µg/mL dengan baku pembanding Vitamin E. Intensitas kekuatan antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol herba gelang biasa (Portulaca oleracea L.) yakni sangat kuat.

Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus merupakan bakteri penyebab berbagai penyakit kulit dan keracunan makanan , sedangkan Escherichia coli merupakan bakteri penyebab diare. Aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol kulit cabang, daun, bunga kamboja putih (Plumeria alba L.) dan kamboja merah (Plumeria rubra L.) disebabkan karena kandungan metabolit sekunder yaitu flavonoid, alkaloid, terpenoid, steroid, polifenol dan saponin.Tujuan dari penelitian untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dan mengidentifikasi kandungan metabolit sekunder dari ekstrak etanol kulit cabang, daun, bunga kamboja putih (Plumeria alba L.) dan kamboja merah (Plumeria rubra L.) terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Pembuatan ekstrak etanol dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% (perbandingan 1:10 w/v). Metode Kirby Bauer merupakan metode yang digunakan untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri. Hasil uji menunjukkan diameter zona hambat ekstrak etanol kulit cabang, daun, bunga Plumeria alba L. dengan konsentrasi 50% terhadap  Escherichia coli lebih tinggi dibandingkan Staphylococcus aureus. Hasil dari penelitian ini daun Plumeria rubra L. terhadap Staphylococcus aureus memiliki zona hambat paling besar diantara bagian tanaman yang lain yaitu 10,38 mm. Kulit cabang  Plumeria rubra L. dan bunga Plumeria alba L. memiliki zona hambat sebesar 9,38 mm. Hasil skrining fitokimia dari kedua simplisia mengandung senyawa alkaloid dan polifenol, kedua simplisia tersebut tidak mengandung senyawa terpenoid, steroid dan flavonoid. Bagian daun dan bunga Plumeria alba L. tidak mengandung senyawa saponin.
