Abstract

Desain penelitian menggunakan”quasi experiment post test-only with control group design”.

Abstract

Ciplukan (Physalis angulata Linn.) has been used by the community as an anti-diabetic drug. The antidiabetic effect is due to ingredients such as unsaturated fatty acids, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, polyphenols, steroids, triterpenoids, monoterpenoids, and sesquiterpenoids. Part of the fruit of P. angulata contains many active substances of flavonoids with the proportion of fruit extract 300 μg/ml is 84%. Therefore the exploration for compounds responsible for antidiabetic activity in P. angulata needs to be done to ensure empirical evidence. The purpose of this study was to find the active fraction of P. angulata L. which has anti-hyperglycemic properties. This study used Myoblast cells as subjects and the Bioassay Guided Fractionation method for separating compound groups through three stages of the extraction, partitioning, and fractionation processes which were monitored using TLC and the Glucose Consumption Assay test. The results showed that the chloroform extract (CHCl3) was more active in lowering glucose levels compared to the methanol extract (MeOH) (4.86% vs -8.74%). MeOH insoluble extract was more active than MeOH soluble extract (5.14% vs -8.52). The fractionation results showed that Fraction I was the most active in lowering glucose levels compared to FII, III, and IV (26.47%; 13.18%; 0.15%; 13.76%). Therefore Fraction 1 which contains a class of flavonoid compounds is a potential candidate to be developed as an antidiabetic agent.

Abstract

Macronutrient intake and adherence to antidiabetic drugs on HbA1c levels in type 2 diabetes mellitusBackground: Diabetes mellitus is a disease whose prevalence continues to increase worldwide, including in Indonesia, due to lifestyle changes; DI Yogyakarta Province has the 2nd highest prevalence in Indonesia, and Sleman Regency is the largest. In the current era, the increasing number of diabetes mellitus and uncontrolled blood sugar levels or HbA1c levels are closely related to lifestyle changes, unhealthy eating patterns, and non-regularly taking medicine. Therefore, controlling blood sugar levels is vital in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between macronutrient intake and antidiabetic medication adherence on HbA1c levels in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 78 respondents using purposive sampling by filling out the SQ-FFQ and MMAS-8 questionnaires. The analysis used the Chi-Square test and logistic regression test. Results: There was a significant relationship between carbohydrate intake, fat intake, and antidiabetic medication adherence with HbA1c (p<0,05), but there was no significant relationship between protein intake with HbA1c levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus prolanis participants (p>0,05). The multivariate test results showed that carbohydrate intake, fat intake, antidiabetic medication adherence, and body mass index were simultaneously associated with HbA1c (p<0,05).Conclusion: Carbohydrate, fat, and antidiabetic medication adherence were significantly associated with HbA1c levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Production of ‘Jamu Jogorogo’ herbal medicine product by the Group of Women Farmers (KWT Singosaren), in Kab. Bantul, Yogyakarta is stagnant after receiving a Dana Keistimewaan Provinsi (Yogyakarta Province’s Special Fund), and has passed a halal certificate. Based on the Ishikawa fishbone analysis, basic knowledge of legal aspects, quality, and marketing strategy. This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational strategy applied to the members of KWT Singosaren. This strategy was implemented through a ‘one-day training’ that began with a Pretest, Post-test I, and Post-test II. A total of 80 members of KWT Singosaren were involved in this training, and 59 met the eligible criteria. A Pretest was conducted before the training to get the initial. After the training, participants worked on the Post-test I. Before leaving the training location, all participants were given a pocketbook containing training material for self-learning. Two weeks (14 days) later, they were asked to take the Post-test II, so the participant’s final knowledge could be investigated. As a result, it was found that there is a rising knowledge of 113.56 % and 71.96 % regarding the understanding of ‘quality’ and ‘legality’, respectively. Interestingly, the marketing strategy (product appeal) and sustainable production knowledge rose by 15.25%. Even so, after Post-test II an increase in scores still occurred. This indicates that participants successfully conducted the self-learning process. Post actualization period, we found that the SPP-IRT permits (legal permits for food production for the Home Industry) of 3 (three) herbal products were successfully issued. Keywords: Empowerment, women, effectiveness, knowledge, training.

Abstract

Keloids, marked by overgrowth of fibrous tissue beyond wound boundaries, present therapeutic challenges due to recurrence and the side effects of current treatments. Conventional methods, including surgery and radiotherapy are often costly and carry risks such as recurrence, pain, and infection. This has led to increasing interest in natural alternatives. This study investigates the antikeloid potential of a combination extract from Nerium indicum Mill (N. indicum) and Tithonia diversifolia A. Gray (T. diversifolia) in an in vivo rabbit ear hypertrophic scar model. The efficacy of the extract was evaluated using the Scar Elevation Index (SEI), while irritation tests assessed its potential for localized skin reactions. Five groups were tested: three groups receiving different doses of the combination extract, a negative control (aquadest), and a positive control (triamcinolone acetonide). The results showed that SEI values in all treatment groups were significantly reduced compared to the negative control (p<0.05), indicating reduced scar prominence. The Draize test further classified the extract as a minimal irritant, supporting its safety for topical application. These findings suggest that the combination extract of N. indicum and T. diversifolia is a promising, safer, and natural alternative for keloid treatment, particularly in managing hypertrophic scars.
