Pesantren, as future Islamic education institutions, is based on community needs based on the dynamics of the morality of the developing generation. This study aims to reveal alternative Islamic education's hierarchy, formulas, and formulations in pesantren with a multiple intelligences approach. This research was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Puncak Darussalam Potoan Dajah Palengaan Pamekasan, which is capable of producing graduates with national and international contributions and achievements. The characteristics of this pesantren are able to accommodate the potential of santri through the multiple intelligences approach with varied activities representing the multiple intelligences of the santri. The chosen research technique employs a descriptive qualitative approach, specifically utilising a case study design. The data collection process encompasses various methods, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The study yielded findings about the hierarchical structure of alternative Islamic education, which was analysed through multiple intelligences theory, incorporating integrative, creative, and adaptive principles. The formula is organised in a systematic manner, incorporating many supporting materials that encompass the stages of input, process, output, and outcome. The formulation is evident in the design of learning activities that serve to strengthen and enhance the nine different types of intelligence.

Abstract

Freedom to learn is a flagship program of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. Students are taught to have more value than their potential and creativity. This is in line with the current educational needs to produce generations of skilled and critical thinking to solve problems and have moral nobility as self-adornment. Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions have contributed greatly to the country through the quality of skilled and virtuous human resources. The purpose of this study is to reveal the relationship between Islamic boarding schools and the concept of independent learning from a historical and philosophical point of view. The research methodology is a literature study with hermeneutic analysis of referential writing. The result of the research is that the aim of Islamic boarding school education is essentially to develop Muslims so that they deepen religious understanding and gain the pleasure of Allah. Furthermore, the pesantren curriculum consists of monotheism, fiqh, and tasawuf. Meanwhile, the relationship between pesantren and independent learning is based on integrative principles, character, tasawuf, and independence.

Abstract

This research aims to explore how the Sufi curriculum at Dayah Mudi Mesra influences the spiritual development and character of the students (santri). Utilizing a qualitative research method with a case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, involving both santri and teachers at the dayah. An interactive analysis method by Miles and Huberman was applied to interpret the data, which was validated using triangulation techniques. The findings indicate that the Sufi curriculum, which emphasizes the teaching of classical texts such as Ihya Ulumuddin, as well as daily practices like dhikr (remembrance of God) and wirid (recitations), is effective in shaping the character of the santri. Values such as religiosity, honesty, and responsibility have become internalized in the daily lives of the santri, strengthening their spiritual connection with Allah SWT and their discipline in worship. However, the main challenges include a lack of resources, particularly a shortage of trained instructors in Sufism, and limited supporting facilities. This research fills a gap in the literature by connecting the Sufi curriculum with character education and provides recommendations for other institutions seeking to integrate Sufism into character education. It is recommended that training be provided for teachers to enhance their understanding and teaching skills in Sufism, as well as to increase social activities to boost the engagement of santri within the community. Overall, this research contributes not only to academic discourse but also offers practical guidance for developing a more holistic model of Islamic education that can be implemented in other institutions.

Abstract

The commodification of abusive language on the YouTube channel Tekotok is an intriguing phenomenon to study, given its impact on communication behavior in society, particularly among adolescents. This research aims to identify the forms of abusive language used in Tekotok's content and analyze its social and psychological effects on the audience. The research method employed is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and content analysis of video materials. Data were collected from ten selected videos on the Tekotok channel that contain elements of abusive language. The results indicate that there is a variety of abusive language usage that serves as a tool to attract attention, create humor, and convey social criticism. However, the impacts also include the normalization of abusive language use among adolescents, which can lead to decreased empathy and increased aggressive behavior. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of awareness regarding the negative effects of using abusive language in social media and the need for education on more positive communication.

Abstract

The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT has brought significant changes in the way humans’ access and understand information, including in the religious field. This research aims to examine how the transformation of Islamic values occurs through ChatGPT responses in the aspects of educational ethics, Islamic law, da'wah, and Qur'anic interpretation. This study applied a qualitative case study method and data was collected from indexed scientific articles from academic databases, ChatGPT responses, and online news articles. The study findings show that the use of ChatGPT in the context of Islam requires caution. While technology can answer a variety of questions, there are fundamental flaws related to the accuracy of citations, unverified sources of information, and a lack of understanding of the sharia context. In fact, there are errors in the mention of Qur'anic verses that have the potential to cause confusion. This emphasizes the importance of the sanad principle in Islamic scholarship as a valid reference. The paper proposes the need to develop more ethical and contextual AI systems in understanding religious questions, as well as the involvement of scholars and academics in training machines to conform to Islamic values.
