Abstract

This study aims to highlight the significance of Ahmad Hasyim Muzadi’s thoughts on civil tolerance, arguing that his paradigm can be used in conflict resolution. It explores the significance of Muzadi’s ideas in the context of Indonesia’s religious diversity, employing a qualitative approach through textual analysis. The findings revealed that Muzadi pioneered the concept of civil tolerance—a nuanced, humanized type of religious coexistence and mutual respect that goes beyond surface-level acceptance. Civil tolerance places a premium on the human experience and the defense of human rights while acknowledging the values inherent in all religious teachings. Muzadi’s four-dimensional concept of civil tolerance involves respecting diversity, acknowledging religious values, understanding human rights, and making collaborative efforts to build a more harmonious society. This research contributes to the discourse by presenting insights into how accepting such a nuanced form of tolerance can address existing problems as well as set the groundwork for a more inclusive society.

Abstract

Trans culture is a cross-cultural condition which can develop or survive within the life of a community. Religion and culture as the pillars for unity in the cross-cultural era can potentially develop into liberalism. This study aims to reveal the process of religious and cultural liberalism along with the solutions. It uses a qualitative-analysis method with hermeneutic approach based on the thoughts of the figures of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in East Java. To collect the data, the researchers conduct in-depth interviews and data analysis of the works and news on religious and cultural liberalism. The study discovers the dialectic model of religious liberalism by making human rights the main source of law, which is called theological-capitalism. Besides, it finds cultural liberalism in the form of an identity crisis, which is called enculturation-liberalism. To overcome the religious liberalism, we can use clarification techniques and logical-systematic thinking. Meanwhile, the solution to deal with cultural liberalism is through cultural realism and socio-cultural learning. Abstract

This study aims to analyze and formulate the Islamic Reflective-Collaborative Model (RKI) as a concept for developing the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in Klojen District, Malang City. This model stems from the low practice of reflection and peer collaboration in facing the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum and the digital era. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with phenomenological methods to explore the meaning of teachers' experiences in developing their professional competencies. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, with participants including junior and senior high school PAI teachers, principals, and PAI supervisors. Data analysis used the Miles & Huberman interactive model, with validation through source and technique triangulation. The research findings reveal four main discoveries: self-reflection, peer reflection, interdisciplinary collaboration based on Islamic values, and spirituality internalization. The resulting RKI Model is conceptual in nature, emphasizing the integration of reflection, collaboration, and religious values as the foundation for PAI teacher professional development. This research has implications for strengthening theory, participatory training policies, and the formation of reflective communities in Islamic educational environments

Abstract

The increasing moral challenges and emotional instability among students in the modern era have encouraged Islamic educational institutions to strengthen character development through religion-based educational programs. The Tahfidzul Qur'an program is considered a strategic medium for developing emotional intelligence and religious character through the internalization of Qur’anic values in students’ daily lives. This study aims to analyze the management of the Tahfidzul Qur'an program in shaping students’ emotional intelligence and religious character at Pondok Pesantren Tahfidzul Qur'an Nurul Furqon. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that: first, program planning was systematically designed based on the pesantren’s vision and mission by integrating the values of discipline, responsibility, and religious commitment; second, program implementation was carried out through structured mentoring, memorization submission, Kyai evaluation, and muroja’ah activities that fostered students’ cognitive, affective, and spiritual development; third, program supervision was conducted through intensive monitoring of memorization progress and worship practices, which strengthened the internalization of religious values and students’ emotional resilience. These findings indicate that effective management of the tahfidz program contributes significantly to the development of a Qur’anic personality balanced between spiritual maturity and emotional intelligence.
