Abstract

This study aims to determine the potential of the Cissus quadrangularis extract to decreased the expression of IL-1 β so that it can to inhibit bone resorption and osteoporosis fracture healing is not delayed union. Forty rats adapted for 1 week, and then divided into four groups with 10 replications. P0 (sham-operated + Osteotomy + CMC Na); P1 (ovariectomy + Osteotomy + CMC Na); P2 (ovariectomy + Osteotomy + Raloxifene 5.4 mg /kg); P3 (ovariectomy + Osteotomy + CQ 750 mg / kg). Osteoporosis induced is made by bilateral ovariectomy in rats, then to make sure that osteoporosis is already happened, 8 weeks post-ovariectomy performed radiology examinations on the femur, then the osteotomy action. IL1-β expression observations performed in at the 2nd week and 6th week after osteotomy through the immunohistochemistry examination. The results of immunohistochemistry examination in the 2nd week showed an increased expression of IL1-β in all groups of rat that did ovariectomy (P1, P2 and P3) were significantly different (p <0.05) with a rat group that didn’t ovariectomy, as well P2 dan P3 were significantly different with P1. The Results of immunohistochemistry examination in the 6th week showed the samepattern with the 2nd week and there is increased IL1-β expression in all groups of rat compared with the results of the examination in the 2nd week. Based on these results it can be concluded that Cissus quadrangularis extract andRaloxifen can decreased the expression of IL-1 β, and the results that don’t significantly different, so that these both materials can to inhibit bone resorption and osteoporosis fracture healing don’t get delayed union.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of pomegranate extract of 40% ellagic acid on blood profile of albino rats that had nephrotoxicity after included with Gentamicin. a total of 32 white rats were divided into four treatment groups, each consisting of eight rats. the four treatment groups were healthy rats (P0), Gentamicin induced rats (P1), Gentamicin induced rats and ellagic acid treatment (P2) and Gentamicin induced rats and standardized Pomegranate extract therapy 40% ellagic acid treatment (P3). After seven days of treatment, blood was taken for blood profile tests. The results showed that in the Gentamicin-induced group (P0), a decrease in blood profile allegedly caused by Gentamicin that could cause damage and impaired renal tubular function. Givibg ellagic acid and pomegranate extracts of 40% ellagic acid proved to improve the blood profile of Gentamicin induced rats. This is due to inhibition of renal damage and improved renal function due to antioxidant activity possessed by ellagic acid and pomegranate extract of standardized 40% ellagic acid.

Ujung Pangkah, Gresik was became the most habitat of fowls such as Cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis). The aim of this research were to find out the type of worm that infected digestive tract of Cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis) in Ujung Pangkah, Gresik. The examination of worm in digestive tract was done by dissection and fecal examination. The identification based on morphological of the eggs and worms. The samples of digestive tract organ collected from restaurant that preserve Cattle egret as a main menu. Whereas the fecal sample collected by swab from the intestine. Cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis) has positive infection by worm parasite if there were worm or egg inside the digestive tract. Fecal samples were examined by native, sedimentation, coconut-sugar floating method and EPG counting with Lucient Brumpt. And the worm morphology from dissection of digestive tract would be identify with source book, journal, and discussed with supervisor. The result showed that 20 of digestive tract dissection and 20 fecal samples, there were three types of worm, Contracaecum sp., Cosmocephalus sp., Capillaria sp. and egg of Contracaecum sp. with 200 EPG

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the potency of anting-anting leaf extract (Acalypha indica L.) as an acaricide against larval and adult Boophilus microplus in vitro by observing the mortality rate of B. microplus. The present study design was a completely randomized design. This study used five treatments, including: Tween 80 1% and aquadest (K-), Neguvon (K+), anting-anting leaf extract with a concentration of 3.125% (P1), 6.25% (P2), and 12.5% (P3 ). Each treatment used 5 repetitions and each repetition used 6 B. microplus larval stages and 5 B. microplus adults. Observations were made for 5 hours for the larval stage of B. microplus and 24 hours for the adult stage of B. microplus. Boophilus microplus is declared dead if there is no movement at all when touched with a needle. The data obtained were analyzed using factorial ANOVA and continued with Duncan's multiple distance test. The results showed that the 12.5% anting anting leaf extract treatment showed no significant difference with the treatment using Neguvon. (p>0.05) in larval stage B. microplus, but in adult B. microplus showed a significant difference with Neguvon (p<0.05). The results of the statistical test can be concluded that the extract of anting-anting leaf (A. indica L.) has the potential as an acaricide of B. microplus larval stage in vitro. The higher the concentration of anting anting leaf extract, the higher the acaricide activity.

Abstract

Burns is now considered one of the most destructive forms of trauma affecting humans and animals. This study aimed to determine the effect of Madeira vine leaf extract combined with 2% Turmeric rhizome extract (MVLTR) gel administered topically on second-degree burn wound in albino rats based on the number of fibroblasts. A total of 25 male rats weighed 200–300 grams were divided into five groups i.e. (C-) was normal skin, (C+) was burn and treated using 1% silver sulfadiazine, (T1) was burn and treated using 1.25% MVLTR gel, (T2) was burn and treated using 2.5% MVLTR gel, and (T3) was burn and treated using 5% MVLTR gel. The burn wound was performed on the right gluteus of rats, and the therapy was applied twice a day topically, starting after the burn wounds were made. Skin samples were collected on day 15. The histopathological examination was performed by counting fibroblast cells and then analyzed using One-way ANOVA, continued with the Duncan test. Based on the results showed that the C- group was significantly different compared to C+, T1, T2, and T3 groups. C+ had a significant difference with the T1 and T3 groups, meanwhile not significantly different from the T2 group. T2 was not significantly different from the C+ and T3 groups. In conclusion, MVLTR gel at 5% concentration has the potential to be an effective treatment for second-degree burns, as indicated by the increased number of fibroblasts.

Abstract

Strategic infectious animal diseases have a great impact on the national economy as they may cause great economic loss, public anxiety, and high mortality. In Indonesia, among the diseases considered as strategic infectious animal diseases is foot and mouth disease (FMD). This study reported the incidence of strategic infectious animal diseases in Balongpanggang district during 2023. Throughout 2023, FMD only accounted for 4% of the total diseases of the year and was the only strategic infectious animal disease reported that year. Meanwhile, bovine ephemeral fever (BEF) incidence reached 57% (876/1546) of the total diseases in beef cattle in 2023. In addition to BEF, official veterinary services reported a total case of 1546 throughout 2023 that comprises; diarrhea (99), limping (24), helminthiasis (91), ectoparasite (11), hematochezia (3), wound (3), mastitis (4), allergy (1), dystocia (28), vaginal prolapse (11), dermatitis (45), enteritis (27), tympani (11), scabiosis (122), arthritis (67), ophthalmic problem (11), endometritis (1), uterine retention (13), indigestion (2), pneumonia (21), hypoglycemia (5), abscess (21), ovariohysterectomy (1), orchitis (1), intoxication (1), and papilloma (1). In conclusion, the only strategic infectious animal disease reported in 2023 in Balongpanggang was FMD with the incidence as high as 3% as compared to the non-strategic infectious animal diseases, BEF, which reached 54% of the total cases during 2023.
