Abstract

The quality of education is a crucial factor for the progress of the nation in forming a high-capacity and moral society. Pesantren, as boarding educational institutions in Indonesia, have more complex service demands than non-Islamic boarding schools because they manage formal and non-formal programs. Initial studies at Islamic Boarding School XYZ showed that there had been no improvement in services based on Voice of Customer. This study aims to maximize the quality of Islamic Boarding School XYZ services by focusing on the five dimensions of SERVQUAL (physical evidence, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy). Data collection was carried out through questionnaires distributed to students as respondents. Data analysis was carried out by implementing the SERVQUAL method to identify service gaps and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to formulate action plans based on improvement priorities. The results of the study identified 19 service attributes that needed improvement. These improvement recommendations were compiled based on a comprehensive analysis using SERVQUAL and QFD, providing concrete guidance for XYZ Islamic Boarding School to effectively improve the quality of services based on the needs of students.

Abstract

Working on shifts has the risk of being exposed to health problems, such as obesity and susceptibility to infections and hypertension. However, shift work is unavoidable for workers in sectors that require non-stop operations, such as health workers in the Health Service Providers. This article presented opinion about an optimal shift rotation pattern in reducing the health risks of shift health workers while increasing the effectiveness of the treatment of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases. In general, today’s pattern of shift work for health workers is schemed in the eight-day cycle, in which employees work two days in the morning service for seven hours, two days in the evening service for seven hours, and another two days in the night service for ten hours, then followed by two days off. This pattern has the potential to cause burnout and decrease reaction time. The article identifies a new work shift pattern that can accommodate the risk of burnout while simultaneously assisting in the emergency of the corona outbreak. It emphasises the Morning-Evening-Night-Holiday work pattern as an innovative work model that should replace the old work pattern. There are seven advantages of the new work pattern: biological balance, availability of transportation, rapid recovery, reduced risk of COVID-19 transmission, increased patient satisfaction, increased self-control, and improved performance.

Abstract

In hospital pharmacy installations, strategic logistics management has a very important role in terms of drug supply because of its routine and periodic nature. Researchers utilize various literature that is related and relevant to research as a source to obtain data. In obtaining sources for this research literature study, the authors conducted a search from selected databases such as Google Scholar that matched the research topic using the keywords logistics management, pharmaceutical installations, and strategy. At the input step, a condition evaluation is performed using value factors that apply as input to logistics management at pharmaceutical installations in hospitals, which may be analyzed with 5M. To eliminate or reduce unintended bias, inventory selection and assessment must be done properly and according to a strategy. Even after carrying out and applying standards to the input factor availability strategy and the processing process, logistics availability difficulties still arise often. This might happen owing to the effect of unknown variables. The process of implementing logistics management at pharmaceutical installations in several hospitals has been carried out well when viewed from the 5M management factor (man, money, material, machine, and method). SIMRS, or Hospital Management Information System, is utilized by hospitals as a pharmaceutical information system, which is highly significant and beneficial in creating reports connected to medication supplies; yet, there are hospitals where the information systems are not used efficiently. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are used to manage pharmaceutical installations in hospitals, although there are still flaws in their implementation.

Abstract

Hospital quality must be improved for the benefit of patients because the main task of a hospital or health care facility is to provide medical services to patients. The laboratory is part of the medical service that provides services such as making a diagnosis, providing treatment, monitoring the results of treatment, and establishing a patient's diagnosis. This article was prepared using the literature review method by outlining the contents of the research results that already existed and in accordance with the topic of discussion regarding the analysis of the application of lean six sigma in increasing the effectiveness of hospital laboratories with the lean method using Google Scholar, Emerald, and Pubmed with the keywords lean six sigma, laboratory, and hospital or lean six sigma, laboratory, and hospital. Based on the results of the literature review, it was found that the activities carried out in the laboratory still show activities that do not generate added value or waste. This is because the technique for handling examination specimens sent from inpatients and the emergency room has not been effective, and the mechanism for handing over specimens between health workers has not been effective. Research (Ibrahim et al., 2022) shows the implementation of lean six sigma can improve the timeliness of inpatients for routine CBC tests in the laboratory and minimize patient dissatisfaction.

Abstract

Long waiting time is one component that has the potential to cause patient dissatisfaction. If the waiting time is long, it will reduce patient comfort and affect patient utility in the future. The method used in this research is Literature Review, namely by collecting and processing research data that has existed before with the 2018-2022 range. The results of this study found that there was a waiting time for drugs, both concoctions and standard drugs, that were not in accordance with the minimum service standards, so that waste was found. There are various types of waste that are found resulting in long drug waiting times such as too many processes to the long process of submitting drug prescriptions to pharmaceutical installations, which causes many inefficient and ineffective activities to arise. Based on this, there is a waiting time for drugs, both concoctions and standard drugs, that are not in accordance with the minimum service standards, so that waste is found. Thus the length of waiting time in preparing the drug is influenced by several factors such as speed and completeness of patient data up to re-submission which takes a lot of time.
