Abstract

The air pollution that is occurring currently is main by caused by the use of motor vehicle that consequently it lead to the increasing fuel consumptions as the main source enrgy for transportation equipment. The fuel that is used in the vehicle comes in several types. In the market its differences show by the octane numbers that can contribute different effect to the environment due to their combustion processes. The road conditions through which the vehicles move are the major factors that can trigger the growth of pollution to the surrounding. It is predicted that about 70% of the air pollutions is caused by the motor vehicle emissions. This research was fully conducted in the laboratorium. Three types of fuel with different octane numbers were used in this research. Premium with octane number 88, Pertamax with octane number 92, and Biopertamax with octane number 91. The engine speeds were also varied from 500 rpm, 1000 rpm, 1500 rpm, 2000 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3000 rpm, 3500 rpm, to 4000 rpm. For every type of fuel, the engine was run five times for every engine speed in order to obtain the exhausted gas characteristics from the vehicles to the environment. The result of the research shows that at engine speed of 2500 rpm the CO emission for each type of fuel : Premium with octane number 88 is 0,415%, Pertamax with octane number 92 is 0,556%, and Biopertamax with octane number 91 is 0,273%. The octane number also effects the CO2, HC, and NOx emissions in small quantities. Statistical analysis shows both the engine speed and the octane number contribute significant effects on the exhaust emissions, the CO and HC emissions provided negative effects, while the CO2 and NOx emissions get positive effects. In comparisan to with the vehicle speed on the road from secondary data to represent the engine speed in the laboratorium, and assuming that the traffic density is identical to a factor that determining engine speed, it can be concluded that the air pollution by CO emission due to the characteristics of the road has negative influence. The octane number of the fuel and the engine speed gives a significant effect. The traffic density and the road conditions can trigger the level of the concentration of CO gas as pollutants to the surrounding air.

Abstract

Waste management in Jembrana District, had been handled by the Environmental Sanitation Department, which in 2012 the amount of garbage in Jembrana District it’s about 684.80 m3. The amount of garbage was large and continues to grow up every day, thus feared that TPA Peh will overload. This problem encourages the needed for Integrated Waste Sites Planning in TPA Peh, where it will accept the loads of Jembrana garbage. The Integrated Waste Site Planning in TPA Peh requires some studies, such as study of the technical aspects, financial aspects and environmental aspects. Based on technical analysis it was known that the garbage of Jembrana district in TPA Peh amounted to 150.56 m3/day. Recovery factor value was 80.33% with 19.87% residue. If this large amount of garbage is not processed, then TPA Peh predicted will be overloud in November 2015. By Integrated Waste Site Planning which is only the residue that wasted on landfill, then it could be extended the lifespan of the landfill until 9 (nine) years and 3 (three) month. Required area in the application of Integrated Waste Site Planning in TPA Peh is 13.701 m2. The total cost of investment in the implementation of the Integrated Waste Site in TPA Peh is Rp. 12.331.282.000.00. Total operational cost is Rp. 5.811.760.000, while the revenue potential of recycling such as composting and stalls selling stuff in 2022 is Rp. 18.390.154.291.56. Net Present Value (NPV) obtained positive value of Rp. 13.933.193.788 with a value of IRR is 45,23% and B / C ratio is 1,159. Environmental analysis on TPA Peh Jembrana by analysis of well water quality around the landfill, is known that most of the physical and chemical parameters are still under the quality standard. Biological parameters are still above the water quality standards based on Permenkes No. 416.Menkes/Per/IX/1990. From the analysis of landfill leachate water quality parameters known for Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Ammonium-free, BOD, COD and biological parameters are still higher then the effluent quality standards compared to Bali Governor Regulation No. 8 of 2007 on Environmental Quality Standards and Criteria Standard Environmental Damage.

Abstract

In the rapid development process, environmental problem has currently become a global issue. Natural environment is very important for people as the subject to development. The protest, friction, and conflict that are now happening in the development process is being caused by the people feel pushed in terms of social, economic, as well as environmental aspects. Some expert said that the development of hotels in Bali have been destroyed the enviroment. It should be noted that the development in Bali is hoped has currently been stressed in harmony. This is reflected in a Vision of Bali Development 2006-2026, that is: towards Bali Dwipa Jaya based on Tri Hita Karana. Its essence is the development of Bali expected to lead to the prosperity and welfare of the community. In the process for that purpose, however, should be based on the principles of harmony and togetherness, according nature of the concept of Tri Hita Karana (THK). Therefore, it is needed a research on environmental management based on THK in the hotels in Bali, including hotels within Sanur area. The implementation of THK will get harmony at subak, traditional villege, and hotels. The main objectives of this study are: developing criteria for the hotels based on THK, and to know the level of THK application in hotels within Sanur tourism region. Location of study was determined by purposive way. All hotels listed in Sanur Tourism Regions were selected as research subject. It means that it is done a census method. The respondents of the study are the management of each hotel. It was found that, the indicator of hotels based on THK could be seen from the three elements, namely parhyangan, pawongan, and palemahan. The elements of parhyangan indicator are: the existence of the temple in the hotel; management of the temple; implementation of ritual ceremony in the temple; maintenance of the temple; implementation of religious speech; and provide assistances to the temples in the vicinity of the hotel. Elements of pawongan indicator are: the harmony between the management and employees; presence of Letter of Working Agreement; harmony between the hotel and surrounding communities; and the number of employees supporting the local culture (Bali). Elements of palemahan inicator are: Green Open Space (RTH); garden park in the hotel area; wastewater management; waste management; emissions management; environmental management; Toxic Hazardous Materials management (B3); construction with typical Balinese; and utilization of CSR for greening activities. The score of THK application on hotels within Sanur Tourism Region is 79.2% (good). The application of each element of THK shown that parhyangan element score is 78.7% (good), pawongan element score is 87% (very good), and the palemahan element score is 73.6% (good). The criteria of good implementation of THK at the hotels, indicate through good implementation of all elements of THK and also the score of THK must also at good category. The indicator of hotel based on THK could be likely developed in the future, and continued to be tested in wider tourism areas, in order to get a standard criterion. Therefore, it will be used as a fundamental guide in assessing the application of THK in the hotels scattered in Bali, and possibly also in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the very high score of application of THK is only found in pawongan element. It thus the all element of THK should be developed in order to improve the environmental management of the hotel in Sanur Tourism Region.

Abstract

Collection and transportation of waste in the Distiict of East Denpasar have not run optimally due to lack of garbage collection and waste transport processes which are 1101 adequate. The research was conducted with a S\1tvey to determine the condition of existing operational waste transportation route followed by following the waste transport vehicles and calculate the time it takes to make one trip transportation and the number of trips in one day. The number of vehicles Uiat will be surveyed in the field is the number of vehicles that serve the Sef'\????ce area of East Dcnpasar DistJ·ict, which consists of dump trucks and arm roll truck. The results showed that the waste transportation operations in the District of East Denpasar have not nm optimally due to lack of bins for the community and a fleet of garbage that is not proportional to the volume of waste generated, the number of transport trip has not been able to reduce the waste. Transport route selection is currently not effective because it ha???? not minimized the di????-tance and travel time. The condition of access to TPA Sarbagita is unfit to be passed by a garbage truck, where the bumpy road conditions can cause damage and inhibit the rate of truck components.

Abstract

Installation of water treatment is the required infrastructure in meeting the needs of clean water. During the process of water treatment it produces waste water as a byproduct that could potentially cause pollution if not properly treated. The research purposes of the study are to determine the effectiveness of compliance procedures for waste water treatment, the quality and quantity of waste water and its impact to the environment, as well as providing alternatives for waste water management strategies. Determination of samples were conducted by using purposive sampling method. Samples were taken at two sewer sedimentation and filtration points antl the other four points were taken in the water body and then compared with Governor of Bali Regulation No.8 year 2007. Samples were analywd both in situ and in the laboratory. To determine the effectiveness of the waste water treatment to the conformity assessment procedures, the field conditions were analyzed with a force-field analysis. The effectiveness of waste water management was categorized as moderate. The quality of waste water from the sedimentation basin shows the parameters of TSS (4957.50 mg/I) and Mn (81.68 mg/I), of the tub filtration TSS (665 mg/I) and Mn (12.60 mg/I). The quantity of waste sedimentation basin discharge (Q) o.68 mg/sec, TSS pollutant load (3371.01 mg/sec), Mn (55.51 mg/sec), filtration basin discharge (Q) o.68 mg/sec, load TSS pollutant (332.50 mg/sec), Mn (6.30 mg/sec). Based on the force-field analysis conducted, some alternative strategies were proposed such as building facilities for waste management, environmental m.inagement implementation based on the appropriate planning, implementation of waste water disposal permit including fulfill the technical conditions as required, technical capacity building of human resources, and land use.
