Abstract

The coastal swamp is a tidal swamp part of the estuary ecosystem. Coastal swamp on the Cimandiri River, Sukabumi West Java is one of the estuarine ecosystems that have an important ecological role for the lives of sedentary aquatic biota and migratory fish such as eels. The objectives of this study were to determine the population biology of eels and influential environmental factors in the coastal swamp of the Cimandiri River. The study conducted partially in September-October 2016, March and December 2017 and January-November 2018. Eel fishing and water quality measurements were carried out in 4 selected locations based on different habitat conditions. Eel fishing is done at night with fishhooks and traps. There were two species of tropical eel, Anguilla bicolor bicolor (107 individuals) and Anguilla marmorata (4 individuals). The total length of A. bicolor bicolor is 15.7-57.0 cm and weight 5.8-347.2 g. The total length of A. marmorata is 17.0-29.5 cm and weight 6.9-33.7 g. The growth pattern of A. bicolor bicolor in the coastal swamp was negative allometric, with the condition factor values 0.99-1.03. Based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA), the preferences for the presence of eel in coastal swamp are characterized by parameters of depth, transparency, salinity, and water current. From this study, it is known that the coastal swamp has functioned as a habitat for yellow eels in the estuarine phase.

Abstract

Titlle:  Rights-Based Inland Water Fishery Management In Sebangau River, Sebangau National Park Central KalimantanThe Sebangau River, Central Kalimatan, consists of mainstream as common area and tributaries as controlled area of fishing ground by means of rights-based management. Abstract

The reference point of reproductive biology play an important roles in developing a baseline information for fishery management. Different waters will provide different overview of fisheries related to its biological aspects. The red bigeye (Priacanthus macracanthus) is one of economically important demersal fish species in Indonesia. To support the biological status of this species, a regular field observation were carried out during May 2016 to April 2017 in Palabuhanratu bay, south of West Java. The objective of this study is to estimate the spawning season and potential reproductive stages including to evaluate how the key management related to the species and its gear selectivity. Numbers of red bigeye (Priacanthus macracanthus) specimen was collected from bottom gillnetter and hand liner. Basic information related to length-weigth, bio-reproduction (maturity) were collected regularly to determine GSI, Fecundity and its impact of fishing (Lc, Lm) to evaluate the recent stock status. The result showed sex ratio no significant differences between males and females except in September to December. The growth pattern indicated negative allometric. The predicted of spawning seasons were around June-July and December-January. Mean of fecundity was estimated to be 230,000 ± 178,000 eggs. Management keys were obtained i.e. length at first maturity (Lm) value was to be 21.9 cm TL which is smaller than length at first capture (Lc) 22.4 cm TL for bottom gill netter and 23.1 cm TL for average fishes caught by hand liner. Therefore it is recommended to close the waters in the bay area during the spawning period. In the case of catch, it is important to apply the precautionary approach with emphasizes to the size of fish allowed to be captured more than the Lm value (above 21.9 cm TL).

Abstract

Longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol) is one of common economically important pelagic fish species in Indonesia. The objective of this study is examining the biology of reproduction, consisting of length of weight relationship, sex ratio, maturity stage, gonado somatic index (GSI), length at first capture, and length at first maturity and spawning pattern. A total of 633 longtail tuna, ranging 29-58 cmFL and consisting of 293 males and 340 females, were collected from the Java Sea between April 2018 and March 2019. The results showed that the longtail tuna growth pattern was isometric. The sex ratio was not significantly different between male and female. The length of first capture longtail tuna of drift gillnet (43.2 cmFL) was bigger than the length at first maturity (42,3 cmFL). This indicates that the most of longtail tuna caught by drift gillnet have already spawned. The peak’s spawning season occurred in May and November, with fecundity ranging from 783,597 - 1,579,160 eggs. Longtail tuna has multiple spawning pattern
