Abstract

Abstract

Crystal guava is a fruit that can be processed into candied fruit. Calcium chloride (CaCl₂) is a food additive that functions as a firming agent and may affect the final quality of the candied guava. This study aimed to determine the effect of CaCl₂ concentration, soaking duration, and their interaction on the characteristics of candied crystal guava. A Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) was used with two factors and three replications. The first factor was CaCl₂ concentration: K1 (1%), K2 (3%), K3 (5%). The second factor was soaking duration: L1 (1 hours), L2 (2 hours), L3 (3 hours). The parameters observed included texture, moisture content, pH, sensory properties (texture, taste, and overall acceptance), and calcium content. Data were analyzed using Bartlett‟s and Tukey‟s tests, followed by ANOVA and HSD (Honestly Significant Difference) at a 5% significance level. The results showed that CaCl₂ concentration significantly affected pH and had a highly significant effect on moisture, texture, and sensory characteristics. Soaking duration had a highly significant effect on moisture, texture, and sensory properties, but not on pH. The interaction between both factors had a highly significant effect on sensory properties, but no significant effect on pH, moisture, or texture. The best treatment was 5% CaCl₂ with 3 hours of soaking (K3L3), resulting in a texture of 783.917 gf, moisture content of 79.83%, pH 4.21, texture score of 4.4 (crunchy), taste score of 4.12 (liked), overall acceptance of 4.46 (liked), and calcium content of 339.2 mg/kg.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and test the influence of job placement, supervision, and the work environment on employee performance at the Makassar City Communication and Informatics Office. It is hypothesized that job placement, supervision, and the work environment each have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consists of all 97 employees of the Makassar City Communication and Informatics Office, with a saturated sampling technique applied, meaning the entire population is used as the sample. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to respondents. The variables examined include job placement, supervision, and work environment as independent variables, and employee performance as the dependent variable. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS. The results indicate that job placement has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Similarly, supervision shows a positive and significant influence on employee performance. The work environment also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. These findings demonstrate that all three independent variables simultaneously and partially contribute to improving employee performance. The implications of this study suggest that organizations, particularly the Makassar City Communication and Informatics Office, should enhance human resource management practices by ensuring appropriate job placement, strengthening supervisory functions, and creating a conducive work environment. These efforts are expected to improve employee performance and ultimately enhance the quality of public services. Future research is recommended to include additional variables or broader organizational contexts to enrich the findings.

Abstract

Employee performance remains a critical issue in public sector organizations, particularly in agencies responsible for delivering technical and community-based services. In the Fisheries Service Office of Bulukumba Regency, the need to strengthen coordination, task clarity, and service responsiveness provides the organizational context for examining factors that influence employee performance. This study aims to analyze the influence of interpersonal communication and work environment on employee performance. A quantitative explanatory design was applied using a census sampling technique involving all 60 employees as respondents. Data were collected through structured questionnaires measured with a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. The results show that interpersonal communication has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (? = 0.307; p = 0.001). The work environment also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (? = 0.146; p = 0.003). Simultaneously, interpersonal communication and work environment significantly affect employee performance (F = 16.465; p = 0.001), with an R² value of 0.221, indicating that 22.1% of employee performance variation is explained by the model. These findings imply that management should improve employee performance by strengthening regular coordination meetings, establishing clearer feedback mechanisms, improving workplace facilities, and creating a more supportive organizational climate. Therefore, interpersonal communication and work environment are important determinants of employee performance in the Fisheries Service Office of Bulukumba Regency.

Abstract

The urgency of this study is to identify how work loyalty contributes to improving employee productivity and organizational performance at PLN UP2D Makassar.. In the context of increasing organizational demands for efficiency and service reliability, particularly in public utility sectors, employee productivity has become a critical factor in ensuring sustainable performance. One of the key determinants influencing productivity is work loyalty, which reflects employees’ commitment, responsibility, and emotional attachment to the organization. However, empirical evidence on the role of work loyalty in enhancing employee productivity in state-owned enterprises remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of work loyalty on employee productivity at PLN UP2D Makassar. This study employs a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 43 employees selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires based on a Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The findings reveal that work loyalty has a positive and statistically significant effect on employee productivity, as indicated by a t-value of 7.413 and a significance level below 0.05. The regression analysis shows that an increase in work loyalty leads to a proportional increase in productivity, with a regression coefficient of 0.757. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R² = 0.573) indicates that 57.3% of the variation in employee productivity can be explained by work loyalty, while the remaining 42.7% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These results highlight the importance of employee commitment, responsibility, and emotional attachment in enhancing work performance. The study contributes to human resource management literature by providing empirical evidence on the role of work loyalty as a key driver of productivity, particularly in public service organizations. In conclusion, strengthening work loyalty is essential for improving employee productivity and achieving sustainable organizational performance.
