Abstract

Background: The occurrence of various deceptive news on COVID-19 vaccines adversely impact public mindset. Prior to the mass vaccination of Indonesian government, perception of the willingness to be vaccinated and its determinant were not widely explored. Objectives: This study is aimed at evaluating the determinants of willingness to receive and pay for COVID-19 vaccines, prior to the commencement of widespread vaccination in Indonesia.Method: This study applied a cross-sectional design to assess the inhibiting factors of both the willingness to receive and pay for COVID-19 vaccines. Statistical analysis was conducted using bivariate and multivariate methods. Furthermore, a qualitative approach was also adopted to categorize open-ended themes on the determinant of willingness to pay for COVID-19 vaccines. Results: Based on the determinants of willingness to be vaccinated, the following results were obtained, including the occupation of health workers (OR=3.638; p=0.000), civil servants (OR=1.776; p=0.030), perception on COVID-19 as dangerous (OR=2.161; p=0.010), perception on the vaccines as effective (OR= 13,156; p=0.000), perception on vaccine as safe (OR=15,769; p=0.000). In terms of the determinants of willingness to pay, the following results were recorded, including respondents’ age of 40 years (OR=2.048; p=0.000), income of IDR.2,500,000 (OR=1.631;p=0.002), experience from the interaction with COVID-19 patients (OR=1.422; p=0.013), perception on the virus as dangerous (OR=2.211; p=0.000), perception on health protocol discipline (OR=1.834; p=0.014), and perception on the vaccine as effective (OR=1.760; p=0.011). Furthermore, 6 concerns were raised on the willingness/reluctance to pay for the vaccine, such as the perception of the vaccines’ effectiveness and safety, equity, suspicion surrounding the pandemic and vaccine, optional measures in combating the outbreak, personal circumstances and nationalism. Conclusion: The determinants of willingness to receive the COVID-19 vaccine included the occupation of health workers and civil servants, perception of the disease as dangerous, perception of the vaccine as effective and safe. Meanwhile, the factors of willingness to pay included the age range of 40 years, high income, interaction with COVID-19 patients, perception of health protocol discipline and the vaccines’ effectiveness.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is a public health problem, particularly in developing countries. Women during pregnancy are more likely to have anemia since many women go through their pregnancy without attaining the minimum required intake of iron. The age of the mother and high parity are linked to the psychological and biological elements of pregnant women. This study aims to determine the correlation between parity and maternal age with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. This study, conducted in Dr Murjani Sampit Hospital, used a cross-sectional design. There were 90 pregnant women involved in this study selected using a purposive sampling method. 58.9% of the participants were primigravid, 56.7% were high-risk age (age 20 years old and age 35 years old), and 54.4 % were anemic. The Chi-square test showed no relationship between parity and anemia in pregnant women (p 0.713); however, there was a significant relationship between age and anemia in pregnant women (p 0.001). The pregnant women with high-risk age had suffered anemia during their pregnancy.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: Toddler development is a condition of change in the form and function of organ and individual maturation. Under-five developmental disorders are still a case that requires special attention. The first 1000 days of a child's birth is the golden period for child development. Based on data Kemenkes in 2021 shows that there are 7,512.6 per 100,000 population (7.51%) of toddlers in Indonesia who experience developmental disorders. There are several factors that influence development, including nutritional status and family environmental sanitation. Nutritional status as measured by Body Mass Index (BMI) affects the development of toddlers. The relationship with nutritional status, if the nutritional status is poor then it becomes a factor that further disrupts the physical development of toddlers with optimal nutritional status. Methodology: This study used a analytic design, with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling using fixed disease sampling method from Development Pre-Screening Questionnaire and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior questionnaire data and medical records of toddlers at Gatak Health Center. Data analysis using the chi-square test with SPSS 25. The sample size used was 91 samples. Results: The results of chi-square nutritional status with the development of toddlers obtained OR = 6.618 (with p = 0.050). While the relationship between family environmental sanitation with the development of toddlers obtained OR 5.661 (with p=0.022). Conclusion: Nutritional status and environmental sanitation are significantly associated with the development of toddlers.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to identify patient perceptions, influencing factors, patient efforts, and increasing compliance with healthy lifestyles in hypertensive patients. Methodology: This study uses a qualitative approach method with a phenomenological design to explore in-depth information based on patient knowledge and understanding. The study was conducted on hypertensive patients from October to November 2024 at the Gatak Health Center. Results: Each patient has the same perception and knowledge about hypertension, but differs in the implementation of a healthy lifestyle and knowledge about complications of hypertension. Most patients agree that hypertension is dangerous and requires the implementation of a good lifestyle to prevent the development of hypertension, but some patients think that hypertension is not dangerous as long as they implement a good and correct healthy lifestyle. If this is put together, it will become the same core, only different in understanding, it is natural that this happens because each patient has a different mindset and understanding. All patients have learned information about hypertension from medical personnel education, television broadcasts, and personal experiences with the motivation of wanting to recover from hypertension. Applications/Originality/Value: Exploring how patients themselves perceive and understand these steps. Knowing the patient's perception will help in designing an educational program that is more targeted and in accordance with their needs and understanding.

Abstract

Purpose: Fibroadenoma mammae (FAM) is a common benign breast tumor predominantly affecting young women. While obesity and location of residence are thought to influence the risk of FAM, evidence remains inconclusive. The aim to analyze the relationship between obesity, location of residence, and the incidence of FAM in Central Java, Indonesia. Methodology: This observational analytical study employed a case-control design using retrospective medical record data. The study included patients with breast tumors who underwent surgery and histopathological examination. Patients were categorized into the FAM group (cases) and non-FAM group (controls). Data on body mass index (BMI) and location of residence (urban or rural) were analyzed to determine their relationship with FAM. Results: The study revealed that FAM patients had a significantly younger median age compared to non-FAM patients (30 vs. 36 years; p = 0.015). Obesity was significantly less common in FAM patients than non-FAM patients (p = 0.001), with obese individuals having a 0.2 times lower risk of developing FAM (OR = 0.2). There was no significant association between location of residence and FAM incidence (p = 1.000; OR = 1.0). Applications/Originality/Value: There is a relationship between obesity status and the incidence of FAM. Obese women have a 0.2 times lower risk of experiencing FAM than non-obese study subjects, it can be considered that obesity is a protective factor against the occurrence of FAM. There is no relationship between location of residence and the incidence of FAM.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The independence of kindergarten (TK) and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) students is still low. Teachers act as mentors and substitutes for parents are required to have academic and non-academic skills related to the health of students during activities. A healthy school environment, the availability of health equipment, and teaching staff who are competent in School Health Services (UKS) and First Aid (P3K) are some of the factors that contribute to creating a conducive environment for students. Teachers in charge of UKS at Muhammadiyah kindergarten and MI levels in Gondangrejo Subdistrict have never received special training on UKS and P3K. Based on this, we held a community service program through training on School Health Efforts and First Aid for Accidents for teachers. The methods used were seminars, workshops, the creation of UKS guidebooks and posters, and the distribution of UKS and P3K equipment. The training participants were teacher representatives from Muhammadiyah kindergartens and elementary schools in the Gondangrejo sub-district of Karanganyar Regency. Competency improvement can be achieved through the provision of knowledge and training. The post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores. Creating a healthy school is the responsibility of the entire school community, including teachers, students, school employees, and parents.
