Abstract

One of the essential components in the implementation of learning is instructional media. Instructional media can facilitate the learning process and spark students' interest in the material presented, particularly through media that is practical and accessible anytime and anywhere. However, current challenges in the field indicate a lack of engaging, effective, and practical instructional media for learning activities. This study aims to conduct a needs analysis among teachers and fifth-grade students as a reference for developing interactive instructional media for the "Indonesiaku Kaya Raya" topic in the (IPAS) subject. The method employed is descriptive with a quantitative approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and questionnaires for data collection. The results from interviews and observations indicate a demand for flipbook-based instructional media. Furthermore, questionnaires completed by 27 students revealed that 51.9% find IPAS subjects difficult to comprehend, 59.3% agree that the "Indonesiaku Kaya Raya" material is challenging, and 59.3% expressed a need for interactive media. Consequently, there is a clear necessity for technology-based, interactive, and practical instructional media. There is an urgent need for flipbook-based media that can be accessed anywhere and at any time a format that integrates images, audio, video, hyperlinks, and other engaging features.

Abstract

Abstract

Physical Education (PJOK) learning in elementary schools often produces uneven results when relying on conventional media. This study aimed to test whether modified learning media improve learning outcomes compared to traditional media, assess the influence of learning motivation, and examine the interaction between the two. A 2×2 factorial quasi-experimental design was implemented with fifth-grade students, with two learning conditions (modified vs. conventional media) and two levels of motivation (high vs. low). Learning outcomes were comprehensively measured across cognitive (multiple-choice test), psychomotor (performance rubric), and affective (observation) domains, while motivation was measured using a questionnaire. A two-way ANOVA revealed a significant main effect of media: the modified media group outperformed the conventional group in all three domains. The main impact of motivation was also substantial, with highly motivated students achieving better. There was a media × motivation interaction: the superiority of modified media was most pronounced among highly motivated students, while providing a buffering effect for lower-motivated students. The findings were supported by game-based task design, audiovisual modeling, developmentally appropriate tool adaptations, teacher training, and safety procedures. It is concluded that when well designed and implemented, modified media is practical and feasible to improve the quality of PJOK learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

The development of critical thinking as a key 21st-century competency is closely linked to computational thinking (CT), which requires systematic support through appropriate teaching materials. This study aims to analyse research trends in CT teaching materials published between 2021 and 2025 using a systematic review with a bibliometric approach following PRISMA guidelines. Data were collected from Crossref, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Semantic Scholar, resulting in 68 selected articles from an initial pool of 2,050 publications, which were analysed through content analysis and bibliometric mapping using VOSviewer. The findings reveal a significant increase in CT teaching material research in the post-pandemic period, particularly in 2023, with a predominance of empirical and research and development (R&D) studies. Most studies focus on computer science contexts, elementary education, and interactive digital teaching materials, indicating that CT is often positioned as an initial technical competency. In contrast, CT teaching materials for non-computer science subjects, other educational levels, and non-digital or unplugged contexts remain underexplored. Furthermore, existing research primarily emphasises product development and short-term effectiveness, while longitudinal studies examining the sustainability of CT learning outcomes are still limited. These findings highlight the need for pedagogically grounded, context-responsive, and interdisciplinary CT teaching materials, as well as future research employing longitudinal designs to support the equitable and sustainable development of CT as a core competence in 21st-century education.

Abstract

The Effect of Problem-Based Learning on Students’ Learning Motivation in Elementary School Physical Education Abstract This study aimed to analyze the effect of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on students’ learning motivation in Physical Education at SDN 2 Jembatan Gantung, Lembar District, West Lombok Regency. The study was motivated by the low level of students’ learning motivation, as reflected in limited interest, attention, participation, and self-confidence during Physical Education classes that were still predominantly conducted using conventional teaching approaches. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 60 fourth- and fifth-grade students divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire covering the indicators of interest and attention, persistence and perseverance, self-confidence, learning awareness, and learning environment and teacher support. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that all data were normally distributed and homogeneous. Hypothesis testing yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the implementation of PBL had a positive and significant effect on students’ learning motivation. The improvement was evident across all motivation indicators, particularly in interest and attention as well as self-confidence. These findings indicate that PBL can serve as an effective alternative instructional model for enhancing students’ learning motivation in elementary school Physical Education.
