Abstract

This research aims to measure the quality of semen and morphology of spermatozoa cells in male goats as a basis for making frozen semen. The increase in the goat population in North Central Timor Regency is still relatively low. The rearing system carried out by the community is still traditional and the goat farming business is used as a side business with livestock ownership ranging from 5-10 heads with 1-2 males. The limited number of male peanut goats greatly limits livestock breeding, so efforts need to be made to groom goat semen in the form of frozen semen. Before freezing semen, it is necessary to know the characteristics of peanut goat semen which are related to the quality of the fresh semen produced as a condition for making frozen semen. Semen collection is carried out 5 times at intervals once a week in the morning using an artificial vagina. The results of macroscopic evaluation of spermatozoa showed that the average volume of semen ejaculated was 0.7 mL ± 0.06; the color is yellowish cream, has a typical smell of peanut goat farming, the consistency is thick, average pH: 6.647 ± 0.11. Meanwhile, microscopically, the mass motility value is: +++ (good), individual motility value: 85% ± 3.07, viability value: 82.5% ± 2.51, concentration: 1.763 x 109/mL ± 0.30 and abnormalities spermatozoa: 11.5 ± 2.16. Results of measurements of spermatozoa cell morphology in male Peanut goats mean head length 7.17 ± 0.65 μm, head width 4.11 ± 0.60 μm, tail length 33.82 ± 3.77 μm and total length of spermatozoa cells 40.99 ± 4 .42 μm . The results of this study can be concluded that male Timor bean goats have high spermatozoa quality and good spermatozoa cell morphometry to be continued in the retail and semen freezing stages.

Abstract

Kombucha from honey pineapple can be used as an active ingredient in formulations and preparations for shower gel as a pharmaceutical biotechnology product which has pharmacological activity in vitro in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Psedomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli bacteria. This study aims to make formulations and preparations for shower gel with active ingredients from kombucha fermented pineapple madu subang solution which includes concentrations of 15%, 25% and 35%. This research method is laboratory experimental in nature where the first step is to make a shower gel base without the active ingredient as a negative control. The second step is to make a gel soap base with the active ingredient, kombucha fermented pineapple honey subang at concentrations of 15%, 25% and 35%. Providing widely available commercial body wash as a positive control. Disc diffusion is a popular method for testing the activity of an antibacterial. One way ANOVA and post hoc follow-up test are the parts used in the analysis of each shower gel formulation along with the two positive controls for the overall test bacteria. The results of this study proved that based on a P value <0.05 through a one way ANOVA test and continued through post hoc analysis, namely the formulation and preparation of kombucha shower gel, pineapple madu subang at a concentration of 35%, significantly different from 20% and 30% to the growth of the four test bacteria and 35% concentration of kombucha bath soap pineapple honey subang was the best treatment compared to the two controls and other treatments in inhibiting the growth of the four test bacteria.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan edukasi sosialisasi kepada peternakan Unit Pertanian-Peternakan SVD Halikelen tentang Sosialisasi metoda pembuatan kolostrum buatan pedet sapi perah. Hal ini dilakukan mengingat sangat kurangnya kesadaran peternakan akan pentingnya kolostrum buatan dalam mengatasi masalah induk tak menyusui , sehingga perlu dilakukan  Pengabdian Pada Masyratakat tentang “Sosialisasi metoda pembuatan kolostrum buatan pedet sapi perah di unit pertanian-peternakan SVD Halikelen desa Naekasa Kecamatan Tasifeto Barat kabupaten Belu” akan dilaksanakan tanggal  1 Maret 2023. Pemahaman mengenai pembuatan kolostrum buatan sangat penting mengingat peran pasar sebagai kebutuhan utama adalah daging dan susu, maka perlu meningkatkan produktivitas ternak sapi perah. Unit Pertanian-Peternakan SVD, Halikelen merupakan salah satu peternakan yang berada di Desa Naekasa Kecamatan Tasifeto Barat Kabupaten Belu dan berdiri pada tahun 2021 oleh para biarawan SVD. Hal ini merupakan salah satu perusahaan baru yang banyak mendapat perhatian dari akdemik melalui pelatihan-pelatihan yang berkaitan dengan sapi perah.Target khusus melalui pendampingan dan pelatihan diharapkan Unit Pertanian-Peternakan SVD, Halikelen dapat mengetahui pentingnya kolostrum buatan dalam mengatasi pedet yang tau menyusu dari Indyk atau sebaliknya. Hal ini dilakukan agar pedet bertumbuh dan berkembang dengan sehat. Metode yang digunakan dalam pencapaian hasil tersebut adalah pelatihan secara langsung melalui sosialisasi dan eksperimen di lapangan.

Abstract

Hewan ternak yang cenderung mengandung lemak dan dikonsumsi secara tidak terkendali merupakan salah satu potensi untuk meningkatkan kolesterol. Salah satu upaya dalam mencegah terjadinya kolesterol dan menghasilkan hewan ternak dengan kandungan kolesterol rendah adalah dengan pemanfaatan tanaman herbal sebagai zat aktif dalam mengurangi resiko terjadinya kolesterol. Daun bayam merah merupakan salah satu tanaman komoditas hortikultura dari jenis sayur-sayuran yang dirancang dalam penelitian ini untuk memberikan skrining awal dalam mencegah kolesterol yang tinggi bagin hewan ternak secara in vitro baik dari diambil dari sampel budidaya tanaman secara konvensional maupun hidroponik. Hasil penelitian ini telah membuktikan bahwa berdasarkan nilai Effective Contentration (EC50) ekstrak etanol 96% dari daun bayam merah baik yang diperoleh dari hasil budidaya tanaman secara konvensional maupun hidroponik berpotensi dalam menurunkan kolesterol pada hewan ternak secara in vitro. Nilai EC50 yang dihasilkan dari ekstrak etanol 96% daun bayam merah adalah sebesar 60.28% dan 40.26% dari ekstrak etanol 96% daun bayam merah yang dibudidayakan dari metode hidroponik.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui analisis morfometrik dalam penentuan score babi Duroc Betina. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan di Mitra Tani Farm Kecamatan Wewiku, Kabuapten Malaka. Ternak yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah babi Duroc betina berumur 1 tahun berjumlah 80 ekor.  Peubah yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah cumulative index Salako yang terdiri weight index, height slope index, length index, width slope index, depth index, foreleg length index, balance dan cumulative index yang akan dianalisis menggunakan rumus Salako (2006) untuk melihat kumulatif indeks untuk menentukan score indeks dari ternak tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukan rata-rata ukuran morfometrik babi Duroc betina Byaitu bobot badan (42,43±24,16 kg), panjang badan (56,09±16,97 cm), tinggi pundak (49,13±13,98 cm), tinggi pinggul (49,75±13,98 cm), lingkar dada (74,78±27,39 cm) lebar dada (17,18±6,18 cm), dalam dada (33,64±14,12 cm), panjang pinggul (15,70±5,15 cm), dan lebar pinggul (13,24±2,11cm). Rata-rata cumulative index Salako betina yang terdiri dari weight index (14000,64±7978,14), height slope index (0,63±1,84), length index (1,14±0,13), width slope index (0,92±0,44), depth index (0,67±0,15), foreleg length index (145,49±8,17), balance (1,66±0,096), dan cumulative index (4,80±2,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh maka dismpulkan bahwah semakin tinggi nilai cumulative index betina, maka nilai tersebut digunakan untuk menentukan score index tubuh dalam seleksi terutama ternak babi betina dalam meningkatkatkan jumlah kelahiran dan kualitas daging yang bagus terutama pada betina afkir. Hal ini merupakan salah satu proses seleksi dalam mempertahankan kualitas ternak babi Duroc yang ada di Mitra Tani Farm Wewiku Kabupaten Malaka.Kata kunci: Babi duroc, cumulative index, morfometrikMorphometric Analysis in Determining Body Score Index of Female Duroc Pigs in Mitra Tani Farm, Wewiku District, Malaka RegencyABSTRACT. This research determine the morphometric analysis in determining the score of female Duroc pigs. The research was carried out in Mitra Tani Farm, Wewiku District, Malaka Regency. The livestock used in this research were 80 1 year old male Duroc pigs. The variable observed in this research is the Salako cumulative index which consists of weight index, height slope index, length index, width slope index, depth index, foreleg length index, balance and cumulative index which will be analyzed using the Salako (2006) formula to see the cumulative index to determine the index score of the sow. The results of the study showed that the average morphometric dimensions of female Duroc pigs were body weight (42.43 ± 24.16 kg), body length (56.09 ± 16.97 cm), shoulder height (49.13 ± 13.98 cm) , hip height (49.75 ± 13.98 cm), chest circumference (74.78 ± 27.39 cm) chest width (17.18 ± 6.18 cm), chest depth (33.64 ± 14.12 cm ), hip length (15.70±5.15 cm), and hip width (13.24±2.11cm). The average cumulative index of Salako Brtina consisting of weight index (14000.64 ± 7978.14), height slope index (0.63 ± 1.84), length index (1.14 ± 0.13), width slope index (0.92 ± 0.44), depth index (0.67 ± 0.15), foreleg length index (145.49 ± 8.17), balance (1.66 ± 0.096), and cumulative index (4, 80 ± 2.05). Based on the research results obtained, it was concluded that the higher the female cumulative index value, the value is used to determine the body index score in selection, especially female pigs, in increasing litter size and good meat quality, especially inculled females.  This is one of the selection processes in maintaining the quality of duroc pigs in Mitra Tani Farm Wewiku, Malaka Regency.

Abstract

Ulva lactuca is a type of seaweed that grows in the coastal areas of East Sumba Regency and its use is still limited. One of the efforts made to increase its economic value is to use it as a raw material for nori. Nori made from seaweed has disadvantages such as not being elastic, easily tearing and cracking. Therefore, it is necessary to add Carboxylmethyl cellulose (CMC) which functions as an emulsifier and stabilizer so that it can reduce surface tension so that the resulting nori has good elasticity, does not crack or tear. The CMC concentrations used in this research were 1%, 3%, 5%. The research results showed that Ulva lactuca nori without CMC treatment (P0) had a fairly high crack or tear size, reaching 97.23 mm. In contrast, cracks were not identified in nori products treated with 5% CMC (P3). The proximate composition of Ulva lactuca seaweed nori with different CMC concentrations obtained an average value of water content ranging from 17.49%-30.69%, ash content 10.55%-14.55%, fat content 0.65%-3 .94%, protein content 2.12%-3.04% and carbohydrate content 48.87%-61.89%. Based on the results of statistical analysis, the use of different CMC concentrations had a significant effect (P0.05) on water content, ash content, fat content, protein and carbohydrate content. Optimization of the resulting nori was obtained using 5% CMC (P3) treatment, this is because the physical characteristics of the nori produced have a good level of elasticity (no cracks or tears), have a water content of 30.69%, ash 10.55%, lipid 0 .65%, protein 2.65% and carbohydrates 55.44%.

Abstract

Telang flower kombucha has been widely studied as a probiotic drink that can boost the immune system which in recent research has various pharmacological activities as a source of antimicrobials, especially in health problems related to dental disease. Previous studies and this is still a renewable research has found that mouthwash formulations and preparations made from an active ingredient of seagrass kombucha fermented solution have been shown to be able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, and Streptococcus mutans. This study aims to make toothpaste formulations and preparations with an active ingredient of telang flower kombucha fermented solution as a pharmaceutical biotechnology product designed to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and mutant Streptococcus bacteria as well as pathogenic fungi in the form of Candida albicans species. This type of research is a laboratory experiment in which we make a toothpaste base without the active substance as a negative control. Provide toothpaste that is sold in the market as a positive control. Make formulations and preparations of toothpaste with active ingredients from the fermented butterfly pea flower kombucha solution which includes concentrations of 20%, 30% and 40%. Data analysis was used through one way ANOVA where in the results of the study each preparation had a P value <0.05, so that further tests could be carried out through post hoc analysis. eggplant at a concentration of 40% was significantly different from 20% and 30% as a pharmaceutical biotechnology product in inhibiting the growth of the three test microbes and the results of this study it can be concluded that the formulation and preparation of toothpaste made from the active ingredient of butterfly pea flower kombucha fermentation solution is the best treatment as an antimicrobial and pharmaceutical biotechnology products.
