Abstract

Independent oil palm farmers in Landak Regency face challenges in managing production inputs, such as suboptimal fertilization schedules, types, and dosages, which may affect productivity and technical efficiency. This study aims to analyze the technical efficiency of independent oil palm farming in Landak Regency using a stochastic frontier production function approach. The study employed a quantitative approach with a purposive sampling technique, involving 50 independent oil palm farmers. Data were analyzed using the stochastic frontier production function with Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE). The average technical efficiency of independent oil palm farming in Landak Regency was 0.921 (92.1%). Input variables such as land area, dolomite fertilizer, and labor had a significant positive effect on production, while NPK fertilizer and herbicide did not show significant effects. Inefficiency factors such as farmer age, education, and experience were not statistically significant. Independent oil palm farming in Landak Regency is technically efficient. To enhance productivity, farmers are encouraged to optimize the use of land, dolomite fertilizer, and labor, while improving NPK fertilizer dosage and pesticide application practices.

Abstract

Food waste is a serious global issue in countries, including in Indonesia. Various factors contribute to food waste at the household level, which is a primary sector in the food supply chain. According to the data from BAPPENAS and SIPSN, household food waste accounts for a significant portion of the total food waste in Indonesia, with household consumption reaching up to 19 million tons per year.  This study aims to examine the food waste behavior of consumer households in highland areas, in Simpang Hulu District. The number of samples examined in this study consists of 63 respondents. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method. Based on the results concerning personal norms,  awareness of consequences, and a sense of responsibility related to food waste behavior in highland households, it is concluded that food waste is considered undesirable. Housewives in highland areas demonstrate high awareness of impacts of food waste and are committed to manage food efficiently for  the welfare of their families. Various age groups also show positive awareness of the importance of reducing food waste, and  start to plan meals properly. Additionally, various income classes exhibit a positive understanding of the responsibility to reduce  food waste, indicating that economic factors do not hinder acting responsibly towards the environment and food.  Household food expenditure and the number of family members do not affect the awareness, regarding the shared responsibility in managing food and protecting the environment.  Overall, food waste behavior in highland households is driven by high awareness and shared responsibility to minimize food waste and maintain environmental sustainability.    Key words: Food Waste, Household, NAM

Abstract

As Indonesia's economy continues to grow, the poultry industry is expected to adapt and innovate to meet the increasing demand. This research aims to analyze the relationship between consumer characteristics and purchasing decisions regarding chicken meat in modern markets. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to elucidate the research findings, utilizing data from 120 respondents analyzed through Spearman rank correlation. The results indicate that the variables of education level, type of occupation, and income level are significantly correlated with purchasing decisions for chicken meat products in modern markets, exhibiting a positive relationship. These findings suggest that consumers with higher incomes, specific types of occupations, and better education are more inclined to prefer high-quality chicken meat in modern markets.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to measure the supply chain performance of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional V located in Ngabang District, Landak Regency. The research was conducted purposively over one month with a population of 97 employees, all of whom were included as the sample (census sampling). Data were collected through observation, structured questionnaires, interviews, and documentation review. The analysis employed the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model combined with the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results indicate that the company’s supply chain performance falls into the excellent category, with a final score of 99.83. All five SCOR processes Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, and Return operate effectively and efficiently. Deliver and Return achieved the highest performance, while Plan and Make showed relatively lower scores, mainly due to challenges in yield prediction and production capacity adjustments. The findings also reveal that priority weights do not always correspond directly to performance outcomes. Overall, the company’s supply chain operates optimally, although improvements are still needed in planning and production aspects.

Abstract

Food loss and waste have become a critical global concern, particularly in the context of ongoing hunger issues worldwide. It is estimated that nearly one-third of all food produced for human consumption is ultimately discarded. In Indonesia, food waste occurs across multiple sectors, with households contributing the largest share approximately 63.64%, or around 77 kg per capita annually. Sambas Regency, a coastal area in West Kalimantan, is also confronted with challenges related to waste disposal behavior and management systems. In Paloh District, the volume of waste entering coastal areas reaches approximately 963.60 tons per year, indicating a significant level. This study is essential as it seeks to examine socio-demographic characteristics and household behaviors related to food waste among coastal communities in Sambas Regency. Data were collected through surveys and structured questionnaire interviews involving 100 respondents in Paloh District. The analysis employed the Spearman rank correlation method. The findings reveal that socio-demographic variables such as education level, income, expenditure, and household size are associated with food waste behavior. Key drivers of food waste include excessive cooking practices, inadequate storage methods, poor meal planning, inaccurate estimation of food needs, and cultural practices during certain events that encourage food disposal behavior.
