Abstract

These industrial activities produce waste that has the potential to pollute waters, which has a negative impact on the environment and public health. One type of water pollution is Total Suspended Solid (TSS) with the number of undissolved particles measuring less than 0.004 mm to 1 mm. The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the level of industrial waste pollution in Pengambengan Waters in 2020 to 2022 using Google Earth Engine. The method used in analyzing data uses the Google Earth Engine platform with sentinel-2 imagery, then in obtaining total suspended solid results using the Laili (2015) algorithm conducted in a case study of Poteran Waters, East Java. The results of industrial waste monitoring can be seen that the miminal suspension results in Pengambengan Waters are 16.1296 mg/L to a maximum of 20 mg/L while in the second class, the total suspended solid reaches 22.0348 mg/L from a maximum total of 40 mg/L. This suspension result is still relatively low due to the classification class only reaching class two. The absence of areas that fall into class 3 and above indicates that the level of pollution has not reached critical levels.

The ADO-ODTWA guidelines, provided by the Indonesian Department of Forestry, were used to evaluate the tourism potential of the study area. The findings reveal that Coban Canggu achieved an index of 73.7%, indicating the area is highly suitable for future tourism development. The key strengths of the area include its natural charm, diverse tourism activities, sufficient tourism accommodations, and accessibility. However, the site also faces challenges such as inadequate water supply, suboptimal cleanliness, and poor management practices that hinder its full potential. The site’s cleanliness is affected by limited waste management facilities and visitor behavior, while water supply remains insufficient and poorly managed. The research emphasizes the importance of improving infrastructure and facilities, optimizing management practices, and implementing sustainable tourism strategies. In addition, enhancing the promotion and integrating other attractions or services are recommended to boost its competitiveness. In conclusion, the study highlights Coban Canggu’s potential as significant and vital towards regional economic growth and tourism development, while advocating for sustainable practices to preserve its environmental and cultural value.

Abstract

The landscape appearance of Srigonco Village is unique. This uniqueness can be used as a means of learning geography. This study aims to analyze the tourism potential and landscape appearance of Srigonco Village as a means of supporting geography learning. The method used is a field survey by making a working map which is then used to identify tourism potential and landscape appearances. Analysis of natural tourism potential was carried out using neighborhood analysis and analysis of landscape appearance using qualitative descriptive. The study's findings indicate that the tourism potential of Srigonco village is dispersed, with clusters of caves and ponor in the center, an elongated area to the south with beaches, and scattered springs around the community. In addition, the research location has fluvial, karst, and marine landscape elements such as caves, rivers, beaches, waterfalls, and biodiversity preservation, can also be utilised for natural tourism. Srigonco Village's topography can be utilized to teach geography, particularly in the study of geomorphology, hydrology, biogeography, disasters, tourism, and socio-culture. The application of geography learning can be carried out through field activities, research, or project-based learning to provide students with the opportunity to learn directly from the environment.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) assisted by Google Sites in improving students' analytical thinking in lithosphere topics. A quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design involved 68 tenth-grade students, divided into an experimental (PBL and Google Sites) and a control (conventional instruction) group. Analytical skills were measured with a validated essay test targeting the indicators of differentiating, organizing, and attributing. Data were analyzed with the Mann–Whitney U test due to non-normality. Results showed a significant difference (p < 0.05), with the experimental group achieving higher mean scores and a large effect size (r = 0.79). The findings indicate that integrating PBL with a web platform effectively enhances analytical competence in geography learning. Practical implications suggest that teachers can use Google Sites to structure problem scenarios, learning tasks, worksheets, and assessments. Limitations include single-school sampling and short treatment duration; future research should apply N-gain analysis, test other topics, and compare platforms.
