Abstract

Acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) is a serious clinical condition that can be an early sign of polio disease. Since the discovery of a new polio case in Aceh in late 2022, Indonesia has experienced another polio outbreak after being declared polio-free in 2014. Early detection of AFP is critical to ensure no transmission of wild polio cases in the community. AFP case finding in Ophir health center working area of West Pasaman district is low. Therefore, cadre strengthening is needed to improve their capacity to detect and report AFP cases. Through this activity, cadres gained knowledge and practical skills to recognize AFP signs and symptoms, conduct early reporting, and support rapid case follow-up. This activity was conducted in Jorong Pujorahayu in September 2025 involving 20 posyandu cadres. Methods used were pre-test, education through interactive lecture, discussion, reporting simulation, and post-test. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge, attitudes, and actions of cadres after the intervention (p<0.05). The average knowledge increased from 3.65 to 5.00, attitude from 4.40 to 5.00, and action from 4.30 to 5.00. Interactive education was effective in building cadre readiness to detect and report AFP cases early. In addition, the activity had positive impacts such as strengthening polio surveillance network and providing educational media. In conclusion, this activity has successfully improved cadre capacity and strengthened community-based reporting system. It is recommended that similar activities be conducted continuously at the PHC level to prevent wild polio transmission in the community.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) and tobacco use represent two of the most pervasive global health challenges, with a particularly profound impact in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). Although numerous reviews have explored the clinical and epidemiological associations between TB and smoking. A systematic analysis of publication trends is lacking. This study aims to address this gap by providing a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the intersection between TB and tobacco use, mapping its evolution, key research themes, collaboration networks, and underexplored areas. This study utilized a bibliometric method. Data from 13,876 articles indexed in Scopus were analyzed using RStudio, VOSViewer, and OpenRefine. PLOS ONE emerged as the most prolific journal, with Wang Y being the leading author, having published 178 articles. The University of California was identified as the leading institution with 707 publications. Emerging research topics include mathematical modeling and numerical simulation, reflecting increasing attention to computational approaches in respiratory disease research. Country collaboration networks revealed the United States as the dominant contributor, with significant partnerships with African countries. These findings emphasize the importance of smoking prevention in TB control strategies, offering insights to inform public health policies and guide future research on TB and smoking’s health impacts.

Abstract

Leprosy remains a global health problem with more than 200,000 new cases each year in the world, and Indonesia ranks third highest after India and Brazil. Community stigma against leprosy is still a major obstacle in the elimination of this disease, including in West Pasaman District, West Sumatra, which recorded 11 cases in the 2023-2024 period. The aim of this activity was to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of posyandu cadres in reducing community stigma towards leprosy through health education and socialization. The method used was a pre-test and post-test design involving 40 posyandu cadres. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test to measure changes in knowledge, attitudes, and actions before and after the intervention. Results showed significant improvement in all variables measured: knowledge (p=0.000; mean 4.90 to 6.85), attitude (p=0.014; mean 2.68 to 3.35), and action (p=0.000; mean 2.43 to 3.25). The discussion shows that education on leprosy recognition and stigma reduction is effective in improving the capacity of posyandu cadres as agents of change in the community. In conclusion, this activity not only improved the cadres' individual skills, but also had a real impact on the community through increased acceptance of leprosy survivors. Similar interventions can be replicated in other endemic areas to strengthen the national leprosy elimination program and promote inclusive and stigma-free communities.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a major non-communicable disease and remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia, including in Bukittinggi City. Situation analysis in 2022 and health problem review in 2024 showed that DM consistently ranks within the top five health priorities in this region. Health Office reports indicate increasing DM cases from 2022 to 2024, while the Minimum Service Standards achievement exceeded 100%. This suggests that administrative achievement does not fully reflect effective program implementation. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of the DM control program in Bukittinggi City. A descriptive evaluation was conducted through structured interviews with 12 program officers from the Health Office and community health centers. The assessment covered four evaluation components: input, process, output, and outcome. Results showed that the program generally followed national guidelines but encountered several challenges. For input, human resources, facilities (63.6%), and funding (54.5%) were considered adequate; however, most officers had not received specific DM training (81.8%) and still had multiple responsibilities (66.7%). Regarding process, early detection, education, and monitoring activities were implemented, yet planning involvement remained limited (72.7%). At the output level, core activities were running, but some health centers had not conducted DM surveillance or developed community referrals (28.6%). Regarding outcomes, the program contributed to improved patient quality of life (54.5%), although community participation was still low. Strengthening the program is expected through improved staff capacity and proportional task assignment, greater involvement in planning, strengthened surveillance and community networks, and increased community participation through education.

Abstract

This study examines reconciliation communication through the Mangan Murum tradition in Bener Meriah Regency as a sociocultural space for rebuilding relationships among post-conflict multiethnic communities, particularly the Acehnese, Gayo, and Javanese. It analyzes how reconciliation communication is constructed through local cultural practices involving multiple social actors across the stages of initiation, dialogue, and collective ritual enactment. Using a qualitative approach with critical autoethnography, the researcher actively participated in the reconciliation process from stakeholder engagement to the implementation of the Mangan Murum ritual on August 10, 2025. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and reflective field notes. The findings show that reconciliation is gradually constructed through communication processes embedded in social interactions and cultural rituals rather than formal institutional mechanisms alone. The Mangan Murum tradition functions as a symbolic communicative space that restores trust, solidarity, and collective identity among communities affected by conflict. This study proposes the concept of Ritual Reconciliation Communication, defined as reconciliation enacted through communal ritual practices that reconstruct post-conflict social relations. The concept extends ritual communication and conflict transformation perspectives while highlighting indigenous cultural traditions as sustainable instruments for peacebuilding in multicultural societies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of E-Service Quality on patient satisfaction at Nofi Triani Dental Clinic, Payakumbuh. The study was motivated by a decline in patient visits from 2,616 visits in 2024 to 1,410 visits in 2025, indicating the need to evaluate the quality of services provided. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study population consisted of all patients receiving treatment at Nofi Triani Dental Clinic, while the sample was selected using an accidental sampling technique. The independent variable was E-Service Quality, which comprised the dimensions of Fulfillment, Responsiveness, Contact, System Availability, and Privacy, while patient satisfaction served as the dependent variable. Data were analyzed using binary logistic regression. The results revealed that E-Service Quality significantly influenced patient satisfaction. The Fulfillment dimension had a significant effect on patient satisfaction (p=0.038), Responsiveness had a significant effect and was identified as the most dominant factor (p=0.013; Exp(B)=1.395), and Contact also significantly affected patient satisfaction (p=0.046). Meanwhile, System Availability and Privacy did not show significant effects. The Nagelkerke R Square value of 0.217 indicates that E-Service Quality explains 21.7% of the variance in patient satisfaction, while the remaining 78.3% is influenced by other factors outside the research model. It can be concluded that improving service quality, particularly in terms of responsiveness, service fulfillment, and communication, can enhance patient satisfaction and support increased patient visits at Nofi Triani Dental Clinic, Payakumbuh.
