Abstract

Objectives: This study designs and evaluates a social intelligence-based learning model for social studies in modern Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia, addressing the lack of social-emotional integration in faith-based curricula. Methods/Analysis: A mixed-methods approach involved 150 participants from five pesantren, including students, teachers, and school leaders. Qualitative data were gathered via interviews, observations, documentation, and FGDs, while quantitative data were collected using a validated 25-item Social Skills Questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, paired-sample t-tests, and Cohen’s d assessed effectiveness, with methodological and theoretical triangulation ensuring qualitative validity. Findings: The model—integrating social values, interactive strategies, contextual materials, authentic assessment, and teacher facilitation produced significant gains in social intelligence. Problem-solving and tolerance improved most (+1.7 points each), and student participation rose from 42% to 88%. Both students and teachers reported high satisfaction with the collaborative, contextually relevant approach. The questionnaire demonstrated high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.87). Novelty/Improvement: This study introduces a culturally grounded, faith-based pedagogical framework embedding social intelligence into character-based education. By aligning Islamic values and Acehnese wisdom with 21st-century social competencies it provides a replicable model for enhancing social-emotional learning in similar educational contexts.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health issue, particularly among adolescents in densely populated school environments with poor ventilation. This community service aimed to strengthen TB prevention and control efforts through the establishment and empowerment of “PEKA TB” (Pencegahan dan Penanggulangan Tuberkulosis) cadres at SMPN 31 Padang. The activity employed a pre–post test design with an educational and participatory approach, involving 34 students from grades VIII and IX as peer health cadres. The intervention consisted of interactive lectures, discussions, and simulations on TB transmission, prevention, and the PEKA TB framework (Examine–Educate–Coordinate–Act). Evaluation using structured questionnaires measured knowledge, attitude, and practice before and after the intervention. The results showed significant improvements across all variables, indicating that peer-based education effectively enhanced students’ awareness, attitudes, and preventive behaviors toward TB. The empowerment of adolescent cadres successfully fostered active participation in school health promotion and strengthened collaboration between schools and local health authorities. This initiative demonstrates that student-centered, peer-led education is a sustainable strategy to create a healthy, TB-free school environment.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a major non-communicable disease and remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia, including in Bukittinggi City. Situation analysis in 2022 and health problem review in 2024 showed that DM consistently ranks within the top five health priorities in this region. Health Office reports indicate increasing DM cases from 2022 to 2024, while the Minimum Service Standards achievement exceeded 100%. This suggests that administrative achievement does not fully reflect effective program implementation. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of the DM control program in Bukittinggi City. A descriptive evaluation was conducted through structured interviews with 12 program officers from the Health Office and community health centers. The assessment covered four evaluation components: input, process, output, and outcome. Results showed that the program generally followed national guidelines but encountered several challenges. For input, human resources, facilities (63.6%), and funding (54.5%) were considered adequate; however, most officers had not received specific DM training (81.8%) and still had multiple responsibilities (66.7%). Regarding process, early detection, education, and monitoring activities were implemented, yet planning involvement remained limited (72.7%). At the output level, core activities were running, but some health centers had not conducted DM surveillance or developed community referrals (28.6%). Regarding outcomes, the program contributed to improved patient quality of life (54.5%), although community participation was still low. Strengthening the program is expected through improved staff capacity and proportional task assignment, greater involvement in planning, strengthened surveillance and community networks, and increased community participation through education.

Abstract

Education at the college level is a suggestion that students can get a degree in order to have knowledge in the field of computer science. Taking a decision from a BIG DATA for Predicting student graduation time is useful to provide a means of knowing the estimated time of a student's graduation by seeing which students fall into a certain cluster based on the parameters of the Cumulative Achievement Index (GPA) and attendance. It is hoped that it can help the campus and students to predict the graduation rate on time and to improve the reputation for the campus itself and timely graduation for students so that their graduation is not late, besides that the campus can do things that need to be done if they are predicted pass not on time like by making motivation and other things
