Abstract

Renewable energy education empowers students to become creative and innovative agents of change in efforts to protect the environment. This study aims to determine the characteristics, validity, practicality, and effectiveness of learning tools on the topic of renewable energy oriented towards Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) - Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to improve creative thinking and environmental literacy skills. The research was conducted in two different classes using a research and development (R&D) approach. The ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) was used with stages of needs analysis and mini-research, device design and evaluation, as well as development, implementation, and results. The data collection methods used were interviews, tests, and questionnaires. Based on expert validation results, the category obtained was very feasible to use with an average validation of ATP 89%, Teaching Module 88%, Teaching Materials 87.10%, LKPD 94%, and Creative Thinking Instruments 85.25%. The research results showed an average practicality score of 96% in the very practical category. Meanwhile, the improvement in creative thinking skills and environmental literacy was quite effective.

Abstract

During modernization and the trends of modern medicine, the use of traditional medicines remains relevant, especially in rural and remote areas. This research aims to identify the types, relative abundance, benefits, and utilization of medicinal plants in the Ngesrepbalong Village, Kendal Regency. The research methods applied include field surveys and interviews to identify, record, and understand the benefits and utilization of various types of wild medicinal plants. The results of the research show that the Gunung Ungaran Protective Forest area harbors significant diversity in terms of types of medicinal wild plants. In the Gunung Ungaran Protective Forest area, Ngesrepbalong Village, Kendal Regency, there are 40 types of medicinal wild plants. The most abundant species include krinyu, pecut kuda, cakar ayam, and bandotan, while the least abundant species are tejo and kina. These plants are utilized as external medicines, such as for topical application or as ingredients in bathwater, as well as internal medicines, which can be consumed orally. This study is expected to serve as a foundation for environmental conservation efforts and the wise utilization of biological resources to support public health.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of learning to classify living things using ethnobotany-oriented Student Worksheets (LKPD) on the critical and creative thinking skills of junior high school students. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. This approach uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach. This method was chosen to determine the validity and practicality of developing learning media, as well as the effectiveness of using project-based learning media with an ethnobotanical approach to improve critical and creative thinking skills. Meanwhile, the development model used is the ADDIE model. The subjects were 33 seventh-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data collection was carried out through a validated critical and creative thinking ability test. The results showed that the use of ethnobotany-oriented LKPD significantly improved students' critical and creative thinking skills compared to conventional learning. Learning that integrates local wisdom is able to provide a real context that strengthens students' analysis, synthesis, and creativity in understanding the classification of living things. Thus, ethnobotany LKPD can be recommended as an alternative science learning media in junior high schools.

Abstract

The demands of 21st century learning require teachers to develop learning media that are not only in accordance with student learning needs but also adapt to the era, one of the relevant media alternatives is the website. The purpose of this study was to analyze the potential application of website-based learning media with a differentiated and ESD-oriented approach to Biotechnology material. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative, the research subjects are 10 biology teachers in Kebumen Regency and 95 students at SMAN 1 Karanganyar, Kebumen Regency. Data collection techniques through questionnaires for teachers and students and document analysis of teacher teaching modules, then analyzed descriptively based on the average value of each indicator. The scale categories are divided into 0-20% very poor, 21-40% poor, 41-60% fair, 61-80% good, and 81-100% very good. The results of the teacher questionnaire analysis showed that the indicators of teacher understanding of differentiated learning obtained an average of 73% (Good), teacher understanding of ESD 72% (Good), teaching habits of teachers 74% (Good), infrastructure conditions 81% (Very Good), and the potential of the Website 90% (Very Good). The results of the analysis of student questionnaires obtained results for the category of student learning habits average 76.3% (Good), habits of using the website 74.8% (Good), and supporting infrastructure 72.1% (Good). The results of the module analysis show that the implementation of differentiated learning is good but the integration of ESD has not been done explicitly. From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the development of ESD-oriented differentiated learning websites has the potential to be applied in learning Biotechnology materials.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in the number of dips and types of fixatives, as well as their interaction, on the color fastness of batik fabrics dyed using natural dyes based on Rhizophora mucronata propagules. The study used a quantitative approach with an experimental method and a two-factor factorial design, namely variations in the number of dips (3 times, 6 times, and 9 times) and the type of fixative (alum and iron mordant). The parameter observed was color fastness to washing based on the SNI ISO 105-C06:2010 standard. The data were analyzed using the nonparametric Aligned Rank Transform Analysis of Variance (ART ANOVA) test. The results showed that (1) the variation in the number of dips did not significantly affect the color fastness of batik fabric; (2) the type of fixative used also did not have a significant effect; and (3) there was no interaction between the variation in the number of dips and the type of fixative on color fastness. All treatments produced color fastness values in the fair to good category. These findings indicate that under the conditions and range of treatments used, variations in dyeing or the type of fixative did not significantly affect colorfastness, thus requiring further study with a wider range of treatments to optimize the mangrove-based natural dyeing process.
