Abstract

This study aims to increase students' learning motivation by using simple games in the subject of rounders (kasti) in Class VII A at SMPN 13 Banjarbaru. The background of this study is the low motivation of students in physical education learning, especially in the subject of rounders, indicated by the lack of active participation and enthusiasm of students during lessons. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles with 29 students as research subjects. Data collection was carried out using a learning motivation questionnaire consisting of 30 statements covering six indicators: desire and wish to succeed, drive and need for learning, hopes and future aspirations, appreciation in learning, interesting activities in learning, and a conducive learning environment. The Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) for motivation is set at ≥75% (High category). The research results show that in the pre-cycle, the average student learning motivation was 59.43% (Medium category) with 0% of students reaching the KKM. After the implementation of simple game-based learning in Cycle I, the average increased to 72.83% (High category) with 82.8% of students reaching the KKM (24 out of 29 students). In Cycle II, with improvements in the implementation of learning, the average motivation reached 80.18%.

Abstract

Through “the use of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) paradigm in Class VII B of SMPN 13 Banjarbaru during the 2025–2026 academic year, this study aims to improve students' learning focus. Based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of preparation, action, observation, and reflection stages, this study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design. Twenty-eight students participated in this study, which was conducted in two cycles”. A learning focus survey, observation, and documentation were used to collect data. Attention during learning activities, focus when completing tasks, active involvement in learning, persistence, and learning discipline are indications of learning focus. The results showed that students' learning focus was successfully improved by the application of the Problem-Based Learning approach. “The achievement of learning focus was assessed as good in Cycle I at 62%, and very good in Cycle II at 80%. This shows an increase of 18% between Cycle I and Cycle II”. Thus, it can be said that the problem-based learning paradigm is very effective in improving students' concentration while learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Treasure Hunt-based learning media using the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach on equivalent fractions material in elementary school and to determine its feasibility in the learning process. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg and Gall development model, which was simplified into seven stages: research and data collection, planning, initial product development, design validation, product revision, small-scale trial, and final product revision. The research subjects were students of SDN 57/IX Tangkit with diverse ability levels. Data collection techniques included expert validation questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the TaRL-based Treasure Hunt learning media is feasible for use in the learning process. The implementation of this media was able to improve students’ activeness, motivation, and understanding of equivalent fraction concepts. In addition, the TaRL approach helps students learn according to their respective ability levels, making the learning process more effective, engaging, and meaningful.

Abstract

This study sought to enhance seventh-grade students' floor gymnastics skills at SMP Negeri 13 Banjarbaru through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach. The employed research methodology was Classroom Action Research (CAR), executed in two cycles comprising planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. This study involved 31 students as subjects. The methods of data collecting comprised observation, skills assessments, and documenting. The findings indicated that the application of the Problem-Based Learning methodology enhanced students' floor gymnastics abilities. During the pre-cycle phase, the mean student skill score was 61.29, classified as adequate. Following the deployment of the PBL model in Cycle I, the average score rose to 74.19, classified as good. In cycle II, the average score rose to 76.67, which is also classified as good. The PBL methodology enhanced students' skills while simultaneously augmenting their engagement, confidence, collaboration, and participation in the learning process. Consequently, the Problem-Based Learning methodology is seen beneficial in enhancing floor gymnastics skills within physical education instruction.
