Abstract

nvestment performance is an important indicator in assessing the efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability of banking institutions, especially in comparing conventional and sharia systems that have different operational characteristics. This comparative quantitative research aims to analyze and compare the investment performance of conventional and sharia banking in Indonesia using Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) as representatives of each system. Investment performance is evaluated through Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) indicators. This study uses quarterly financial report data for the 2020–2025 period obtained from official bank reports and publications of the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Data analysis techniques include descriptive statistics, normality tests, and hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample t-Test with SPSS. The results show that the average ROA and ROE values of conventional banks tend to be higher than those of sharia banks. However, the Independent Sample t-Test produces a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.896 for ROA and 0.914 for ROE. Since this value is greater than the 0.05 significance level, it is concluded that there is no statistically significant difference between the investment performance of Islamic banking and conventional banking. This finding indicates that both banking systems have comparable capabilities in generating profitability and managing investments. The contribution of this study lies in providing the latest empirical evidence regarding the comparative investment performance of BSI and BRI post-merger during the 2020–2025 period, thereby enriching the literature on the competitiveness of Islamic and conventional banking and providing a reference for investors and bank management in making investment decisions and business strategies.

Abstract

The institutional framework and sustainability of waqf in Indonesia hold immense potential for supporting the social and economic development of the Muslim community. However, despite its promise, the sector remains fragmented, and its utilization has not yet been optimized due to the lack of specific legal regulations governing stock waqf. This study analyzes the regulatory framework for stock waqf from the perspectives of institutionalization and sustainability in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative method through normative legal research using a conceptual approach, this study examines the reconstruction of stock waqf from the perspectives of institutionalization and sustainability in Indonesia. The research findings emphasize the need for legal reconstruction regarding the institutional framework and sustainability of stock waqf to integrate collaborative legal regulations among the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the Financial Services Authority, and the Indonesian Waqf Board, as well as to strengthen Islamic financial literacy. Collaborative legal regulation is not only necessary for operational effectiveness but also to integrate waqf into a modern economic framework, including the integration of digital governance systems and the strengthening of electronic nazhir certification systems without compromising their ethical foundations. Recommendations include strengthening specific legal regulations for stock waqf, fostering synergy between the government and religious authorities, and implementing collaborative legal integration among the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the Financial Services Authority, and the Indonesian Waqf Board. These findings contribute to the reconstruction of the endowment system from an institutional perspective and to the sustainability of endowments that are responsive to national socioeconomic needs and the needs of the endowment itself.

Abstract

This study aims to design an Islamic investment portfolio framework that is integrated with sustainability principles (ESG) and evaluate its effectiveness in achieving halal and sustainable investment goals. The method used is a qualitative approach with a literature study, namely reviewing literature from books, journals, official reports, and websites of institutions related to Islamic investment. The analysis is done descriptively and through content analysis to find patterns of meaning and main principles in the management of Islamic portfolios. The results showed that Islamic portfolios that combine Islamic screening, ESG principles, and diversification strategies are able to provide competitive investment returns while being in accordance with Islamic values. The combination of assets such as Islamic stocks, green sukuk, money market instruments, and halal alternatives support portfolio stability. In addition, the use of technology such as Islamic robo-advisors and periodic rebalancing strengthens the effectiveness of portfolio management. In conclusion, a structured and sustainable Islamic portfolio can be a strategic solution for Muslim investors. It is recommended that Islamic financial literacy continues to be improved, ESG integration is expanded in Islamic products, and digital technology is strengthened to create an inclusive and competitive investment ecosystem.

Abstract

This study analyzes Yusuf Al-Qaradhawi's fatwa on boycotting Israeli products from an Islamic economic perspective. This fatwa calls for a boycott of products in response to political policies that harm Muslims, especially in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The study aims to understand the sharia legal basis underlying the fatwa, as well as its implications for consumption behavior and economic ethics in Islam. Through a qualitative descriptive analysis method, this study explores Al-Qaradhawi's argument that boycott is a legitimate form of economic jihad in order to defend the rights of Muslims, as long as it does not cause harm to the boycotters. The results show that this fatwa is based on the principles of justice, social responsibility and economic solidarity in Islam. Boycotts are seen as a means to protect the interests of the Ummah, reduce economic dependence on countries hostile to Islam, and encourage the growth of local industries. The findings also highlight the challenges and potential economic impact of implementing boycotts in the era of globalization.

Abstract

Green sukuk is an Islamic financial instrument used to finance environmentally friendly projects in supporting sustainable development. Indonesia became a pioneer in issuing green sukuk in 2018, reflecting its commitment to integrating economic and environmental aspects. This study aims to analyze the mechanisms, regulations, and implementation of green sukuk in Indonesia. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach. The results show that green sukuk plays a strategic role in financing green infrastructure and supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals. However, its development still faces challenges such as limited human resources, low public literacy, and risks associated with environmental projects. Therefore, stronger regulations and increased education are needed to support the optimal development of green sukuk.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of social commerce and e-payment services on the income of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the culinary sector in Panyabungan District. The research method used is quantitative research. The population in this study consists of all culinary MSMEs that use social commerce and e-payment services, with a total population and sample size of 30 respondents. Data analysis techniques used validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, t-tests, f-tests, and coefficient of determination tests. Data processing tools in this study used SPSS 24 software. The results showed that the t-test on the social commerce service variable had a significance value of 0.003 < 0.05 and a t-value of 3.228 > the t-table value of 2.051, so Ha1 was accepted and H01 was rejected, meaning that social commerce services partially had a significant effect on the income of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Mandailing Natal District. Then, the e-payment variable has a significance value of 0.028 < 0.05 and a t-value of 2.329 > the table t-value of 2.051. Thus, Ha2 is accepted and H02 is rejected, meaning that e-payment partially has a significant effect on the income of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Mandailing Natal District. The f test results show that simultaneously or together, the social commerce and e-payment variables have a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05 and an f value of 10.969 > the f table value of 3.35, so Ha3 is accepted and H03 is rejected, meaning that social commerce services and e-payment simultaneously have a significant effect on the income of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in Mandailing Natal District. Furthermore, the three main principles are in line with the practice of utilizing e-payment and social commerce services for halal culinary MSMEs in the Panyabungan sub-district. First, the principle of justice ('adl) emphasizes the fulfillment of the rights of all parties in a balanced manner. Second, the principle of transparency (al-amanah) requires the honest and trustworthy presentation of financial and non-financial information, as a form of accountability not only to fellow human beings but also to Allah. Third, the principle of benefit (maslahah) directs every business activity to provide broader benefits to society, not merely to pursue personal or group profits.
