Abstract

Conceptual knowledge is an important component in learning biology as one of the achievements of the cognitive domain. This study aimed to describe students' conceptual knowledge in learning biology. This research was descriptive research using the survey method. This research was conducted at the Public Senior High School, Aceh Besar, Aceh in 2019. The research subjects were 135 students of class X SMAN in Aceh Besar. The sampling technique was the total sampling technique. Data collection was done through test techniques. The test technique was carried out to measure the achievement of conceptual abilities. The test instrument used was multiple choice taken from ecosystem material. The data analysis used was inferential analysis to determine the difference in the achievement of students' conceptual knowledge in schools with the accommodated variables, namely based on gender. The results obtained indicate that the results of the study obtained a value of p = 0.000 (p 0.05), so there is a significant difference between the gender of female and male students. The average value of the achievement of conceptual knowledge of students of class X IPA SMA Negeri in Aceh Besar where the female students were 7.56 and male students were 4.32. It can be concluded that the conceptual knowledge of female students is higher than male students

Abstract

Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Indonesia plays an important role as central position in the development of science and technology in general and the improvement of human resources in particular. Rapid change in the world current economic condition and else digital technology transformation has tend the higher education to adapt and adjust with such phenomenon. The objective of this research is to remind the practitioners of higher education sector to be fully responsive to the change occurred in global. The research method is analytical descriptive analysis. The data gathered and obtained from the books, journals, and other sources which relevant to the topic of research. The result of analysis found that quick anticipation (QA) is required and top management of higher education must adopt change management and innovation in order to compete with others, attract the students, and gain excellence performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see how the inquiry-based nature of science (NOS) argumentation (IB-NOSA) instructional model affects scientific literacy skills. This research used a quasi-experimental method. The design of this research is a pretest-posttest control group design. This study describes the significance of the differences between participants who learn through IB-NOSA, guided inquiry, and discovery learning model. The subjects of this study were 288 students of grade VIII in the 2022/2023 academic year from three junior high schools in Sleman, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data analysis in this study used an analysis of variances (ANOVA) mixed design. The result showed that there was a difference between the pretest-posttest scores of scientific literacy skills in each group. There was a significant increase in the pretest-posttest scores of scientific literacy skills in each group. Effect size showed that the IB-NOSA in increased scientific literacy skills was 0.79; the guided inquiry was 0.76; and the discovery learning was 0.71. The IB-NOSA was the most effective in improving scientific literacy skills with a gain score of 0.49 (medium). So, it can be concluded that the IB-NOSA instructional model can be used as an alternative solution in improving scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

Teaching materials are one of the components needed and used by teachers when teaching. With the use of appropriate teaching materials during teaching and learning activities, it will make it easier for teachers and students to achieve competencies and learning objectives. This study aims to determine the feasibility and practicality of SETS Integrated Interactive E-Module. The type of research used is research and development with research procedures using the 4D model. The research will only be carried out until the Design stage. The results showed that the SETS Integrated Interactive E-Module is feasible to use as teaching material on environmental change material with a percentage of feasibility of 80.21% by material experts and 96.25% by media experts; SETS Integrated Interactive E-Module is practical to use as teaching material on environmental change material with a percentage of practicality of 82.11% by students, and 83.33% by biology teachers. Based on the results of the feasibility and practicality tests that have been carried out, the SETS-integrated interactive e-module is feasible and practical to use.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan LKPD IPA dengan pendekatan guided inquiry pada materi Tata Surya yang telah dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses siswa. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode RD (Research and Development) yang dikemukakan oleh Thiagarajan (1974). Hasil penelitian 1) LKPD telah memenuhi kelayakan berdasarkan penilaian oleh dosen ahli dan guru IPA dengan kategori sangat baik (A) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses siswa. 2) LKPD dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses siswa dengan kategori sedang berdasarkan indikator mengamati, mengklasifikasikan, mengukur, menyusun hipotesis, menyimpulkan,dan mengkomunikasikan. Kata Kunci : LKPD, Keterampilan Proses Siswa, IPA, Tata Surya

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan LKS IPA berpendekatan inkuiri terbimbing yang layak menurut dosen ahli dan guru IPA, serta (2) mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan problem solving siswa sesudah menggunakan LKS IPA berpendekatan inkuiri terbimbing. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian pengembangan (research and development) dengan model 4-D (Four D), yaitu: tahap define (pendefinisian), design (perancangan), develop (pengembangan), dan disseminate (penyebarluasan). Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) telah dihasilkan LKS IPA berpendekatan inkuiri terbimbing yang layak berdasarkan penilaian dosen ahli dan guru IPA dengan memperoleh skor rata-rata 3,68 (kriteria sangat baik), serta (2) LKS IPA berpendekatan inkuiri terbimbing dapat meningkatkan kemampuan problem solving siswa dengan skor gain ternormalisasi 0,53 (kriteria sedang).Kata kunci: lembar kerja siswa, inkuiri terbimbing, problem solving.The aim of this research to: (1) produce of science student worksheet on guided inquiry approach according by expert leacturers and science teachers, and (2) know the improvement of students problem solving after using science student worksheet on guided inquiry approach. The method used of research and development method with 4-D models (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The result of research are: (1) produced a viable science student worksheet on guided inquiry approach based on the assessment of expert leacturers and science teachers with average score 3,68 (very good category), and (2) used of science student worksheet on guided inquiry approach can improve students problem solving with normalized gain score 0,53 (medium category).Key Words: student worksheet, guided inquiry approach, problem solving.

Abstract

Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk; 1) mengetahui kelayakan media pembelajaran IPA model tiga dimensi (3D) untuk siswa difabel netra pada materi perbedaan sel hewan dan tumbuhan menurut para ahli dan guru IPA, 2) mengetahui kelayakan media pembelajaran IPA model tiga dimensi (3D) menurut peer reviewer dan 3) mengetahui kelayakan mengenai media pembelajaran IPA model tiga dimensi untuk materi sel hewan dan tumbuhan berdasarkan respon siswa. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) yang memodifikasi prosedur pengembangan model 4D Thiagarajan dengan menghilangkan langkah Disseminate (penyebaran). Produk penelitian pengembangan ini adalah media pembelajaran model 3D dengan materi sel hewan dan sel tumbuhan untuk siswa difabel netra. Berdasarkan penilaian ahli materi, ahli media, guru IPA, 5 peer reviewer menyatakan bahwa produk ini cukup layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran IPA dengan persentase keidealan produk secara berturut-turut 58,3 % (Cukup Baik); 71, 25% (Baik); 86,71% (Sangat Baik), 90% (Sangat Baik); 89,09% (Sangat baik) sedangkan berdasarkan tanggapan 8 siswa difabel netra di MTs/LB A Yaketunis Yogyakarta, produk ini memiliki kualitas yang Sangat Baik dengan persentase keidealan 89,09%.Kata kunci: media tiga dimensi, sel hewan dan sel tumbuhan, difabel netra

Abstract

Students' critical thinking skills in Indonesia remained a concern, as evidenced by suboptimal learning outcomes and low problem-solving abilities. This study aimed to (1) develop the feasibility of learning materials, (2) assess their practicality, and (3) determine their effectiveness in enhancing students' critical thinking skills. This development research produced educational tools, including teaching modules (lesson plans) and student worksheets (LKPD). The study used the 4D technique and took place at SMA Negeri 4 Tarakan with 36 students participating.  The results indicated that the learning materials received excellent ratings in content feasibility (81.4%), presentation feasibility (86.5%), language and readability feasibility (89.2%), and graphic feasibility (92.5%). All aspects, including material, language, graphics, and functionality, were classified as highly practical. In the control class, students’ critical thinking skills were classified as moderate (50%), good (11%), very good (13%), and very poor (25%), indicating a concentration within the medium to low range. Meanwhile, the critical thinking skills of the treatment group were categorised as moderate (33%), good (25%), and very good (42%), demonstrating that the developed learning materials were effective in facilitating the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method to enhance the critical thinking skills of Phase E students at SMAN 4 Tarakan
