Abstract

In today’s rapidly evolving digital era, the ability to think computationally is no longer confined to computer science it has become essential across disciplines, including mathematics. This study integrates computational thinking (CT) into mathematics learning by analyze its development, benefits, and implementation challenges. Computational thinking which includes abstraction, algorithms, decomposition, and pattern recognition, is considered a crucial component in improving students' mathematical learning. These insights are intended to inform educators, policymakers, and researchers seeking to align mathematics instruction with contemporary technological and pedagogical advancements. Utilizing a systemic literature review as a qualitative method, by 37 peer-reviewed articles published between 2019 and 2024 in the Scopus database were examined. Through qualitative thematic analysis, key insights were identified across cognitive and affective dimensions. The review suggests that CT may support students’ development in problem-solving, logical reasoning, and conceptual abstraction, while also contributing to affective aspects such as motivation, self-confidence, and self-regulated learning. However, several barriers hinder its effective implementation, including insufficient teacher training, limited infrastructure, and curricular constraints. The study highlights the necessity for targeted teacher training initiatives and institutional support to facilitate CT integration.

Abstract

Enhancing Students' Mathematical Literacy through Ethnomathematics-Integrated Problem-Based Learning: A Study on Learning. This study addresses the issue of low mathematical literacy among junior high school students, particularly in relation to their learning independence. Objective: This study aims to (1) examine the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with an ethnomathematics approach in improving students’ mathematical literacy, (2) analyze the relationship between mathematical literacy and learning independence, and (3) analyze their literacy levels based on the degree of learning independence. This combination is important to investigate because it not only contextualizes mathematics within students’ cultural practices but also strengthens their learning independence, both of which are essential for the sustainable improvement of mathematical literacy. Method: A mixed-methods approach was employed using a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative analysis was conducted through a true experimental design with a posttest-only control group, while qualitative analysis was based on test results and interviews with students. Findings: The findings indicate that students in the experimental class using the ethnomathematics-based PBL model achieved higher mathematical literacy compared to those in the control class, which only used a Discovery Learning (DL) model. Additionally, learning independence has a positive effect on mathematical literacy. Students with high learning independence showed better fulfillment of literacy indicators, while those with medium and low learning independence showed varied levels of achievement in mathematical literacy. Conclusion: This study concludes that (1) the ethnomathematics-based PBL model is effective in improving mathematical literacy, (2) there is a relationship between mathematical literacy and learning independence, and (3) students with high, medium, and low learning independence have varying mathematical literacy. These findings highlight the importance of implementing a culturally integrated PBL model to enhance both cognitive and affective learning outcomes, while also emphasizing learning independence as an internal factor in supporting mathematical literacy development. Keywords: mathematical literacy, learning independence, PBL, ethnomathematics.

Abstract

Mathematics anxiety will cause students to become depressed during mathematics learning. This results in students not being able to receive and understand the lesson well. The next thing that happens is that students' solving abilities cannot develop and eventually their learning outcomes become less complete. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of mathematics anxiety on students' problem solving abilities. This study uses the SLR (Systematic Literature Review) method. The result of this research is the effect of math anxiety on problem solving ability is negative. Based on the studies reviewed, it can be concluded that the high level of students' mathematics anxiety means that the problem solving ability produced is low, and vice versa. Problem solving ability is strongly influenced by students' mathematical anxiety. Then the math anxiety arises, one of the causes is that students are less able to understand the concept of the material presented. So as a teacher or teacher, the first thing to fix is to instill in students not to be afraid of mathematics, because mathematics is not as difficult as imagined.

Abstract

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, mathematical literacy has emerged as a crucial competency for students navigating data-intensive environments. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data in education holds transformative potential to enhance personalized learning and support data-driven teaching strategies, yet it also raises critical concerns around Cybersecurity, particularly in safeguarding student data and ensuring trust in digital platforms. This study aims to analyze the effects of AI and Big Data on mathematical literacy, while examining the moderating role of Cybersecurity. Using a quantitative research approach, data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 3. The results indicate that both AI and Big Data have significant positive effects on students’ mathematical literacy, with Big Data exerting the strongest influence through its ability to provide deep insights into student performance. AI also contributes effectively by enabling real-time feedback, adaptive learning, and personalized instruction. Although Cybersecurity demonstrated a weaker direct effect on mathematical literacy, it remains an essential enabler of a secure digital learning environment, fostering user trust and system integrity. This research highlights the importance of aligning educational technology implementation with strong digital safeguards to maximize learning outcomes. The findings offer managerial implications for educational institutions to invest in intelligent learning platforms supported by robust cybersecurity protocols. Ultimately, the study reinforces the relevance of SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting inclusive, safe, and tech-enhanced learning ecosystems suited for the demands of 21st-century education.
