Abstract

In the era of globalization and increasingly fierce competition, some industrial companies are required to focus not only on product and distribution efficiency but also on post-consumer product management. Supply chain issues need to be considered because they are related to the productivity of the company, if the supply chain management of a company runs well, the company's goals will be achieved, and vice versa. In addition to helping implement the principle of reducing, reusing, and recycling, reverse logistics also acts as feedback from customers on the product (finished or unfinished), including the sustainability aspect of the product. The frequent return of kWh (kilowatt-hour) meters in households thatoccur returns/defects and are returned from the reporting of consumers or customers that still exist and also the handling of companies that have not met the standards and strategies for the future. The results of the analysis of the maturity level of the implementation of reverse logistics in these three companies can be categorized at level 3 (Developed Level) with the results of measurements using MSI (Method of Successive Interval) successively are 2.549; 2.292; 2.459; 2.932; 2.677. With the calculation of scores on IFE and EFE in the IE matrix, it is in quadrant II (medium-high).

Abstract

The leather industry is one of the fields that produces hazardous waste for the environment. One example is CV XYZ, a leather manufacturing company based in East Java, Indonesia. Liquid waste produced per production batch is over 4,000 liters and the electricity consumed is a maximum of 5,000 kWh per month. This study focuses on the environmental impacts in the leather production process of the CV XYZ using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method. Additionally, the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method is used to select alternative improvements given that it minimizes environmental impact. The method of research used in this study is descriptive quantitative, and the source of primary data is interviews and questionnaires, while that of secondary data comprises a company report. The data were processed with SimaPro software and using the Eco Indicator 99 method. The results of the study suggest that the greatest impact on the environment is respiratory inorganic, with a value of 221.69 Pt, being caused by the process of chrome tanning due to the application of the process based on the use of chromium fuel, using a chrome raw material. As an alternative improvement to reduce chrome tanning waste content in chromium, the addition of coagulants CaO and FeCl3 is prioritized. To do so, this study underscores how handling the environmental impacts in the leather industry in a clean production way is to preserve human health and the ecosystem of the places around this industry while attempting to achieve this objective.

Abstract

The industrial revolution and mass production directly increased human productivity and significantly impacted the environment. Amid these environmental problems, companies created environmentally friendly production strategies and prioritized economic factors (profit) and how they impact the social environment. This makes sustainable supply chain management in Sustainable Supplier Selection (SSS) increasingly in demand because it can affect the company's environmental performance. Companies that can improve their environmental and social performance will be able to increase their competitive advantage and impact, increasing revenue, market share, and a more positive green image of the company. There is no research on sustainable supplier selection in the sarong industry, especially in Indonesia. Therefore, research is needed on the sector because it dramatically affects environmental performance. One of the companies engaged in the sarong industry is XYZ company. This study aims to evaluate Supplier performance based on sustainable aspects (economic, environmental, social) using the cut-off point method for selecting sub-criteria, FAHP for assigning sub-criteria weights, and TOPSIS for ranking Suppliers based on predetermined sub-criteria. As a result of data processing, suppliers are ranked based on their preferences. Abstract

Inventory is one component that has an important role in a company. The smooth production process and demand fulfillment will be greatly influenced by how to manage this component properly. PT XYZ, as one of the strategic power generation units in Indonesia, is responsible for providing a stable supply of electricity. As a company that relies on the reliability of machines and spare parts, good inventory management is essential. The problems faced include the inaccuracy in the procurement of spare parts which causes overstock or stockout with a range of around 10% to 20% which can disrupt the operation of the plant. improvements in inventory control are made using the Min-Max Stock and Continuous Review methods, both of which maintain a balance between inventory costs and spare parts availability to compare the smallest total inventory cost including ordering costs and storage costs. In addition, this research has novelty by providing recommendations for mitigating downtime risks to optimize spare parts inventory control in the power generation industry. Based on the results of the calculation of total inventory costs, the min max stock method is proven to be able to produce lower inventory costs and get savings of Rp 159.961.310 or around 25%. This efficiency proves that the application of Min-Max Stock can optimize spare parts inventory costs.

Abstract

This company is a light steel processing manufacturing company that specializes in the production of hollow structural sections. A warehouse is the main component that enables a company's operational functions. The role of the warehouse is not only focused on storage and distribution but also on operational efficiency which can have an impact on business competitiveness. Warehousing activities at this company ain’t been optimal due to waste. Waste that occurs such as searching for empty areas for storage, waiting time for the next process, repeated product inspections, has an impact on the flow of warehousing activities. This study seeks to assess the amount of waste and provide recommendations to minimize waste within the finished product warehousing operations at this company. This study uses the Lean Warehousing method consisting of Value Stream Mapping, Process Activity Mapping, and 5 Whys Analysis. The results of this study identify 4 wasteful activities with the highest time such as waiting for the customer’s cargo truck to pick up products (I10), moving products to the truck loading bed (C5), moving products from the production floor to the storage area (S5), waiting for the next process in order to move products (P2). The proposed improvements can reduce 8 non-value-added activities and trim activity time by 1015 minutes. The suggested improvements also increase Process Cycle Efficiency by 15.32% from 11.17% to 26.49%. This proves that the implementation of lean warehouse can improve efficiency and service quality as a whole.

Abstract

Currently the industry is experiencing an increase every year. One of them is the furniture production industry. In East Java there is a furniture industry which experiences an increase in production demand every year. This does not only apply to local consumers but also foreign consumers. PT XYZ implements a make to order system, namely products are made when consumers order them. The amount of production demand is directly proportional to the amount of industrial waste produced, but the company has never carried out an analysis of the impacts. Therefore, this research will discuss environmental impact analysis using life cycle assessment to calculate the life cycle value of the production of a furniture product with cradle to gate limitations. This research was assisted by OpenLCA 2.1.0 software using the Agribalyse_301 database and then for impact assessment using the EDIP 2003 method. After calculating, recommendations for improvement were looked for to reduce the resulting environmental impact. The results of this research for 1 unit of table product production are 3.51166 Pt. The highest impact was produced by the production process, namely Ozone depletion of 0.58215 Pt. This impact can pollute the environment due to the large use of electricity. It is best for companies to use electricity from renewable sources.
