Abstract

Serial communication is a fundamental method for data transfer in electronic devices, particularly in Arduino-based systems. However, existing protocols, such as Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART), often lack robust error detection mechanisms, leading to potential data integrity issues. This study aims to address the knowledge gap regarding error detection in UART communication by implementing Hamming Code, a well-established method for detecting and correcting single-bit errors. The research employs a systematic approach, including data encoding before transmission and decoding with error correction at the receiver end. The results demonstrate that the integration of the Hamming Code significantly enhances the reliability of data transmission, reducing error rates and improving overall system performance. The implications of this research extend to various applications requiring high data integrity, such as industrial control systems and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. By providing a practical solution to the challenges of error detection in serial communication, this study contributes to the advancement of reliable communication systems in modern technology.

Abstract

Scam threats on digital platforms continue to rise alongside the rapid adoption of technology in Indonesia. The unique characteristics of Indonesian digital users, such as low digital literacy and high social media usage, make them particularly vulnerable to various forms of scams, including phishing, impersonation, and emotional manipulation. This study aims to develop a machine learning-based model for predicting and detecting scams by identifying threat patterns within a local context. The methodology involves collecting a survey-based dataset from Indonesian digital users, capturing language patterns and user interaction behaviors. The dataset was processed through text-cleaning techniques, tokenization, normalization, and representation using TF-IDF and Word Embeddings. The machine learning models employed in this study are Random Forest and Support Vector Machine (SVM), evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. Hyperparameter tuning was conducted to optimize model performance, while k-fold cross-validation was utilized to minimize the risk of overfitting. The results indicate that the Random Forest model achieved the best performance, with an accuracy of 92.5%, precision of 90.7%, recall of 94.1%, and F1-score of 92.4%. The use of local datasets improved detection accuracy by 7.8% compared to global datasets, highlighting the critical importance of contextual representation in identifying scam patterns specific to Indonesia. The model was also effective in recognizing unique threat patterns, such as the use of informal language and manipulative phrases in scam messages. This study makes a significant contribution to the field of digital security by providing an effective machine learning-based approach to detecting scam threats in Indonesia. Moreover, the findings underscore the importance of developing local datasets and educating users as part of a holistic solution to enhance digital security. These insights emphasize the necessity of incorporating cultural and contextual factors into technology-driven approaches for combating scams in developing countries like Indonesia

Abstract

Magelang City UMKM actors operate in three fields, namely industry, services and trade. The development of UMKM actors in Magelang City from 2020 to 2022 experienced fluctuations. UMKM players are encouraged to expand their marketing through market places. The emergence of various digital platforms indicates that UMKM players are in the era of globalization. The development of UMKM which is accompanied by environmental changes must be adjusted to approproate strateges such as SWOT analysis approach. The aim of this research is create a model or framework for implementing UMKM development strategies in Magelang City. The research method is qualitative with a SWOT analysis approach (identification of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats). The location of the research was in Magelang City. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, including heads of UMKM associations, trader coordinators and regional apparatus organizations related to UMKM empowerment. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. This research identified 6 strengths, 7 weaknesses, 7 opportunities and 4 threats. From this identification, 16 strategies were produced in the form of 7 SO strategies, 3 WO strategies, 3 ST strategies, and 3 WT strategies. After that, a strategy implementation framework was formulated which focused on the classification of action planning for UMKM actors by paying attention to SO, WO, ST and WT strategies. All of these strategies are classified into four components, including optimizing the availability of human resources, utilizing external programs and technology, obtaining and using business legality, and forming branding and business characteristics.

Abstract

Abstract

Irrigated rice fields serve as the primary land for rice production. Whether continuous rice cultivation or alternating with secondary crops, the cropping pattern in these filelds depends on water supply. These differences in cropping patterns will affect the soil's nutrient dynamics and rice productivity. This research aims to analyze the soil fertility dynamics and rice productivity in irrigated rice fields under different cropping patterns. The study used an oversite design with two factors, namely cropping patterns (rice-rice-rice (R-R-R), rice-rice-corn (R-R-C), and rice-rice-soybean (R-R-S)), and superior varieties (Inpari 23 and Mentik wangi). The results showed that the overall fertility of irrigated rice fields was low, with crucial limiting factors being deficiencies in total N, available P, and K nutrients. Differences in cropping patterns on Inceptisol significantly affect available P. The R-R-R cropping pattern, including the Inpari 23 and Mentik wangi varieties, provided the highest productivity, reaching 6.5-6.9 t ha-1. Selecting the right superior varieties and those by cropping patterns can increase the dry milled grain (MDG) yields by 23.52-30.1% compared to other superior varieties. Sufficient water availability throughout the growing phase can increase rice productivity by 33.3 -56.2% (1.5-2.3 times). Therefore, the key to intensive rice field management is not only to pay attention to soil fertility (nutrient dynamics), fertilization (organic and inorganic), and pest and disease control, but also to ensure the availability of sufficient water during cultivation and to use superior varieties. This research is beneficial for farmers, stakeholders, and the government in efforts to increase food security.
