Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between strategic management, teacher participation, and school performance in public elementary schools, focusing on how leadership practices influence institutional outcomes. The research addresses a growing need to understand how strategic decision-making processes can be effectively aligned with grassroots teacher involvement to enhance educational quality and accountability. This study employs a quantitative correlational design using a validated and reliable 5-point Likert scale questionnaire administered to randomly selected public elementary school teachers. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test the hypothesized relationships among the three key variables. The results show that strategic management has a strong positive influence on teacher participation, with a contribution of 81.1%, and significantly impacts school performance with a contribution of 68.5%. However, the rejection of the third and fourth hypotheses which posited that teacher participation would mediate the relationship between strategic management and school performance suggests that teacher involvement in strategic planning is still peripheral rather than integral. External factors such as educational policy limitations, resource disparities, and administrative rigidity are identified as contributing barriers. This study introduces a novel model that maps the strategic alignment between management practices and teacher engagement, offering a deeper understanding of why participatory leadership may fail to translate into improved outcomes. It recommends a collaborative strategic management framework that genuinely embeds teacher input to optimize school performance and create sustainable educational change.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on the learning outcomes and critical thinking skills of grade V elementary school students on the intrinsic elements of the story. The study used a pseudo-experiment method with a fixed group design and involved 90 students of SD Khadijah 3 Surabaya who were proportionally divided into experimental and control groups. The research instruments include multiple-choice tests, essays, documentation, and questionnaires. The results showed that the application of PjBL could significantly improve students' critical thinking skills, with the N-gain score of the experimental group reaching 57.6% (the category of quite effective), compared to the control group of 15.46%. However, the effectiveness of PjBL on academic learning outcomes based on conventional tests is still low, with the average N-gain of the experimental group of 12.49% and the control group of 18.58%. Thus, PjBL is recommended to improve students' critical thinking skills, but it is still necessary to develop assessment strategies so that academic learning outcomes can also be optimal.

Abstract

The problem in class V of SDN Tanggungan is the low listening skills of the participants or only twelve students (48%) are complete. This study aims to describe the development of appropriate Audio-Visual Media (valid, practical, and effective) on the subtheme of Humans and the Environment to improve the skills of listening to factual problems of grade V elementary school students. The type of research is research and development (R&D) with the Borg & Gall development model. The subject of the study was grade V students of SDN Tanggungan which totaled thirty. The instruments used were validation sheets, observation sheets, questionnaire sheets, and listening skill test sheets. Data analysis refers to the criteria of validity, practicality and effectiveness. Based on the results of the research and discussion, the following were obtained: (1) The results of the validation of Audio-Visual Media experts obtained a score of 88.75% and were within the criteria of being very valid; (2) The results of observation of the implementation of learning and the questionnaire of students' responses to Audio-Visual Media obtained scores of 89.5% and 97.36% respectively and were in the good and very good criteria; and (3) The results of the pretest and posttest scores after the implementation of learning using Audio-Visual Media obtained  a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.00 < 0.05, so that there was a difference in students' listening skills between the experimental and control classes.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) on enhancing critical thinking skills in an open and distance learning (ODL) environment, focusing on a biology education program. The research employed a pre-experimental one-group posttest-only design with 35 students participating in online sessions. These sessions involved formulating questions, designing experiments, conducting observations, and analyzing data. Quantitative analysis using percentages, means, standard deviations, and regression revealed that over 75% of students achieved very good performance in key areas like formulating hypotheses and designing experiments. The regression analysis confirmed that IBL significantly affected critical thinking skills (R² = 0.849; p = 0.05). The study concludes that a systematic learning design that encourages active learning and provides continuous feedback is crucial for developing critical thinking skills in ODL settings. These findings provide insights for curriculum developers and educators to optimize IBL implementation, thereby enhancing educational outcomes and fostering independent learning in distance education environments. Further research is suggested to refine this approach and ensure deeper understanding and application of scientific principles.

Abstract

The phenomenon of ghosting in synchronous online learning, which indicates student disengagement, negatively affects student achievement. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in improving student academic achievement, creative thinking skills, and engagement in synchronous online learning environments. A mixed-method, pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was employed. The participants were enrolled in an Environmental Education course delivered through synchronous online tutorials (webinars). The PjBL model was implemented in six stages: posing essential questions, designing project plans, scheduling tasks, monitoring project activities and progress, assessing outcomes, and evaluating the learning experience. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results revealed that the PjBL model improved student learning outcomes at a low level, significantly enhanced creative thinking skills, and greatly increased student engagement. The study concludes that the PjBL model is a promising pedagogical approach for enhancing synchronous online learning experiences and fostering student cognitive development.

Abstract

This research describes the science learning outcomes of elementary school students who have high self-effecacy learning using the guided inquiry method assisted by books. The research was conducted on grade elementary school students in four public elementary schools in Tambora District,West Jakarta. Data collection was crried out using self-efficacy instruments (questionnaires) and science learning outcomes instruments (tests). The research results show that students with high self-efficacy learn using the guided inquiry method with the help of videos, and student with low self-efficacy learn with the help of books. Students with high self-efficacy get higher results ompared to students with low self-efficacy.The conclusion is that learning science using the video-assisted guided inquiry method for students with high self-efficcy get higher science learning outcomes compared to student with low efficacy.

Abstract

Disasters including earthquakes can traumatize people, especially children. One of the impacts is impaired concentration, making it difficult for children to learn or study. Hopefully, the right learning model can help students continue to participate in learning and heal the trauma. To find out this learning model, it is necessary to carry out a process of characterizing students in post-disaster areas. Based on the results of questionnaires and interviews with teachers and students in post-disaster areas, it is known that some students are still experiencing trauma, as indicated by 51.80% of students still having difficulty concentrating on studying. It is also known that the learning style of most students is auditory because 91.10% of students learn happier when they hear the teacher telling stories. Furthermore, student’s learning styles are visual as shown by 83.90% of students enjoying reading, 80.4% of students enjoying seeing pictures, and 57.10% enjoying seeing animations. Judging from the tendency for collaboration, students prefer to study in groups. Based on these characteristics, students enjoy learning with active, interactive, and fun activities, so the AICEF learning model can be an alternative that can be used as a learning model for elementary school students in post-earthquake areas
