Abstract

Cases of violence against children and women continue to increase, but the handling of reports is often hampered by the large volume of incoming reports and the lengthy manual classification process. This study aims to address these issues by developing a method for automatically classifying reports of violence using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm optimized with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Firefly algorithms. The main objective is to group types of violence accurately to facilitate faster and more effective identification and handling. The research dataset consists of 500 reports obtained from Kaggle, with stages including text pre-processing, implementation of optimization algorithms, and evaluation based on accuracy, precision, recall, and misclassification error. The experiments were conducted using Python on the Google Colab platform. The results showed that PSO-SVM achieved an accuracy of 87.00% and a recall of 80.42%, outperforming Firefly-SVM which achieved an accuracy of 86.00% and a recall of 78.75%. Although Firefly-SVM demonstrated slightly higher precision (92.63%) compared to PSO-SVM (91.53%), PSO-SVM had a lower misclassification error (13.00% compared to 14.00%). These findings indicate that PSO-SVM is more effective for applications requiring better case detection, while Firefly-SVM is more suitable for applications prioritizing precision in positive predictions.

Abstract

This research seeks to examine novel concepts in global carbon emission reduction initiatives. According to several kinds of literature, the mitigation of carbon emissions can be achieved through the Blue Carbon Ecosystem (EKB) idea.  EKB is a concept that enhances aquatic regions to sequester carbon emissions.  EKB aims to mitigate carbon emissions and positively influences the national economy, particularly benefiting coastal areas.  This study employs a normative legal research methodology utilizing a conceptual, legislative, and comparative law approach. Research findings indicate that Indonesia has established regulations regarding blue carbon in Presidential Regulation 98 of 2021 pertaining to Carbon Economic Value.  Nonetheless, the existing regulation has inadequately facilitated the implementation of blue carbon in Indonesia. The findings indicate that 1) The blue carbon concept in Indonesia presents a significant opportunity to mitigate emissions and serve as an economic resource through the Carbon Economic Value scheme; 2) Various countries have successfully implemented blue carbon initiatives to harmonize environmental and economic considerations, emphasizing legal protection, institutional frameworks, and community engagement; 3) The regulatory framework for blue carbon in Indonesia exhibits several deficiencies, including a lack of regulatory coherence, overlapping authorities, insufficient community involvement, and an absence of equitable benefit distribution

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of audit delay, auditor reputation, and market value on investor reaction in companies listed in the Kompas 100 index. The research sample consists of 96 observations obtained through purposive sampling during the period 2022 to 2024. Data were analyzed using panel regression to assess the influence of each independent variable on investor reaction. The findings reveal that audit delay has no significant effect on investor reaction, with an effect value of 0.01 and a significance level of 0.993. Similarly, market value does not affect investor reaction, with an effect value of 0.67 and a significance level of 0.505. In this study, market value refers to market capitalization, and the lack of significant effect can be explained by the fact that the companies included in the Kompas 100 index tend to have relatively stable capitalization, making it less of a key factor in short-term investment decision-making. In contrast, auditor reputation has a positive and significant effect on investor reaction, with an effect value of 2.71 and a significance level of 0.008, indicating that auditor quality is an important consideration for investors in making investment decisions. These results emphasize the crucial role of reputable auditors in maintaining market confidence and providing positive signals regarding corporate performance and transparency.

Abstract

In 2011, the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IAI) issued PSAK 64, which adopted IFRS 6 concerning exploration for and evaluation of mineral resources. It is assumed that this adoption will improve the quality of financial reporting. This current study examines the impact of PSAK 64 implementation and other related factors on financial statement conservatism. The data were collected by using data from extractive industries listed on the IDX over the period 2009-2010 and 2013-2014 to represent before and after IFRS-based PSAK mandatory implementation respectively. This study develops two regression models to analyze first, factors influence on conservatism before implementing PSAK 64 and second, the influential factors after implementing PSAK 64 by interacting among conservatism factors. The study found that exploration aggressiveness has influenced conservatism and there are no influential factors on conservatism when they interact. Generally speaking, there is a no different level of conservatism before and after implementing PSAK 64. This finding adds a body of literature on the accounting of extractive industry in Indonesia and is prospective for countries having yet adopted IFRS.
