Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic medical condition that requires continuous management to prevent life-threatening complications, especially in the elderly population. This article discusses a community service program involving education and hypertension exercise in the working area of the Berbah Health Center, Yogyakarta.  The program addresses key issues such as low community awareness about blood pressure control and limited access to healthcare facilities. The methods used include three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparation stage involved assessing the needs of the elderly, coordinating with the health center, and preparing educational materials and logistics. The implementation stage comprised interactive health education sessions and hypertension exercise led by professional instructors. Finally, the evaluation stage involved pre- and post-tests to measure knowledge improvement and blood pressure reduction. The program targeted 60 elderly individuals, with 12 participants actively engaging in the activities. The results demonstrated that 75% of participants experienced significant improvement in their understanding of hypertension and a measurable reduction in blood pressure, highlighting the effectiveness of combining education and physical activity in community-based health programs.

Abstract

Introduction: The high prevalence of smoking among Madurese adolescents reflects a complex public health challenge. This study aims to analyze the influence of social capital and elements of the Theory of Planned Behavior on smoking cessation intentions among Madurese adolescents within their local cultural context. Methods: A cross-sectional path analysis was conducted with 200 adolescents aged 15–19 years in Sumenep, Madura, using a structured questionnaire to measure attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and smoking cessation intention. Social capital was assessed through three dimensions: trust, social networks, and reciprocity norms, within the context of adolescents' relationships with family, peers, and the broader community. Results: The findings reveal that strong social support from family and peers significantly influences adolescents' intentions to quit smoking, strengthening the effectiveness of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) factors in driving positive behavioral change. Path analysis showed that the intention to quit smoking had a direct and significant effect on actual smoking cessation behavior (? = 1.56; p < 0.001). Attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control demonstrated indirect effects through intention. Adolescents with high perceived behavioral control and positive attitudes toward quitting were more likely to succeed in cessation efforts. Conclusion: These results emphasize the importance of social capital in anti-smoking interventions, especially in culturally cohesive societies such as Madura. Future interventions should leverage community and family-based support systems to enhance smoking cessation efforts among adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy-related anxiety can affect both the experience and length of labor. Self-efficacy, defined as an individual’s belief in their ability to perform the behaviors required to achieve desired outcomes, plays a vital role in managing this anxiety. The Family Bundle Birthing Care (FBBC) approach, which actively involves the mother and her family especially the husband is believed to help lower anxiety levels and strengthen the pregnant woman’s self-efficacy. This study aims to assess the effect of the FBBC approach on reducing anxiety and enhancing self-efficacy among pregnant women. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was employed with intervention and control groups, each consisting of 50 pregnant women. Data was collected using the childbirth education (W-DEQ-A), (W-DEQ-B), childbirth self-efficacy (CBSEI), and birth confidence (BCSQ) questionnaires to assess anxiety and self-efficacy. Data analysis was conducted using the fisher exact test and independent t-tests. Results: The results indicated that the intervention group had significantly lower average scores on the W-DEQ-A and W-DEQ-B, and higher scores on the CBSEI and BCSQ questionnaires compared to the control group. The differences were statistically significant, with p-values of 0.001, 0.01, 0.02, and 0.01, respectively, suggesting that the family-based antenatal education program was effective in reducing anxiety and enhancing self-efficacy among pregnant women. Conclusion: The FBBC program proved effective in reducing anxiety and enhancing self-efficacy in pregnant women. This approach could serve as an alternative method to improve mental preparedness and psychological support for expectant mothers as they approach labor.

Abstract

Introduction: The rapid growth of social media and internet use has increased the risk of cyberbullying, especially among adolescents. This issue became more prominent during the COVID-19 pandemic, as digital activity surged, creating greater opportunities for online harassment. The psychological impact of cyberbullying on students has become a global concern. This study aims to analyze global publication trends related to the impact of cyberbullying on adolescent mental health over the last decade. Methods: A bibliometric analysis was conducted using data from the Scopus database, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. A total of 636 relevant documents were identified, focusing on psychology, public health, medical science, and social sciences. The analysis was performed using VOSviewer and R Studio, with key terms such as cyberbullying, mental health, and psychological impact. Results: The results indicate a steady rise in publications on cyberbullying and adolescent mental health, with notable growth in recent years. The United States was the most productive country, with strong international collaboration patterns. Key research topics included cyberbullying, mental health, adolescents, and emotional outcomes such as anxiety and depression. The dominance of certain journals and keywords reflects increasing scholarly focus, particularly during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, which amplified both research interest and relevance. Conclusion: This study highlights the growing global research interest in the psychological effects of cyberbullying. It provides valuable insights into key contributors, research focus, and collaboration trends, serving as a foundation for future studies and prevention efforts.
